It's fun to threaten your friends! Hee hee.

In this swap you'll receive one partner, to whom you'll send one ransom note. The note can be based on a real life event (think Patty Hearst, Jon Benet Ramsey, etc.) or a story line entirely of your own creation.

If you are feeling lazy, or you have a particularly busy kidnapping schedule, you can use the Ransom Note Generator, but of course your note will be much more fun, colorful, and, umm, likely to get results (i.e., the booty) if you design the threat yourself.

The sign-up date is fast approaching, but you'll have five whole weeks to dream up your demands. Also, I've made sure that the send-by date doesn't fall on Shabbos. As you are well aware, we don't roll on Shabbos.

I don't mean, "Yes, I'll meet you on the third level of the parking deck with the microfilm and a briefcase of unmarked bills. Just bring Fiffy back safe!" Or maybe I do.

Dear TíaBel,

I would like to begin this letter..and feel free to tell me to "Shut the fuck up Donny!" at any time...by apologizing for not sending out your ransom letter on time. I realize that the victim wants to return to you. But the loss of my car for these past few days has hindered the kidnapping process. How did I kidnap the victim if I have no car? Well you see that's what I would like to explain. During the process of carting off the victim, I saw that my engine light was lit. I safely transported the victim to a "safe" place. Where the victim is enjoying themselves while watching A-Team re-run episodes on the telly. And oh boy how the victim loves mole enchiladas. However, on Saturday I will borrow my nana's car to deliver the letter to the post office.

Okey doke. As the fellas at Sing Sing say, here's my piece:

I can make it to LA/the LA area either Friday night or early Saturday morning. I will probably fly down (into any area airport) because I have to work on Friday and Monday, regular worky hours. E. may come with me, or I may meet him down there. We'll prolly stay at his friends' place, which is near Cantor's Deli, if that means anything to any of you.

Here are my other October 12-14 dreams:

  • Participate in at least some part of the Lebowski Fest

  • Meet, laugh, and make fun of shit with y'all

  • Eat eggs a la fisdale with Chappykat

I plan on making it to downtown LA by Friday morning. That way I can shop it up with Eon's Momma. She offered when she heard my desperate pleas for crafty embellishments ;) I'm sure she'd be coo' with more people showin' if anyone's available & interested.

I want to make both nights of Lebowski Fest.

Saturday during the day, that's iffy..we're staying with family and I might spend the day with them. It's kind of up in the air. However, those are the plans..for now.

What'd I miss? Just everything!

Sorry. I had to discipline myself - no internet until I had gathered or made all the stuff for at least two swaps -

1) the ransom (because I need my husband back - I tried to kill a spider with the thumb, but that didn't work as well) so that's done. Just gotta pack it up and mail it, and

2) the Dia de los Muertos notecards b/c the deadline is approaching and I was getting stressed about it. They're really cute and fun. I'll post photos later.

Anyway, I will definitely be there for the Friday night party. Saturday shopping sounds great, too, if I can meet you all somewhere. Not sure, yet, about the Saturday night party. It is at night, right? I'm thinking about making it a "mini-break" and staying in the LA/LB area, too. Depends on the DH and if he's willing to take a day off work. (I might be able to bribe him with a movie at Graumann's before the Lebowski party.)

P.S. A-Team and enchiladas? You call that torture? Make him watch Sarah Jessica parker movies. He can't bear to see her because she reminds him of someone he used to work for. Not that I want my DH to suffer or anything, you know, just trying to help out a fellow marmot with a helpful tip.

Shoot ladies errrr I mean MARMOTS! I prolly(babysingsing family speak) will not be able to make the brunch. I'm putting breakfast aside for my host. She's Cousin RudeNun's godmother and only gets to see Cousin RudeNun maybe twice a year. 'Tis the only request Cousin RudeNun had of this trip. A small price to pay for being kidnapped for an entire weekend. Anywho, anytime after the breakfast we're down. I do hope Eon's Momma will want to meet you all for the brunch tho'!
