Description:

I have been inspired to create a swap after reading the Sunday comics. I save the Sunday comics from the newspaper for wrapping paper but often I put a panel or two I love on the fridge. Now I would love to share them with you!

Let’s do an international, handmade postcard swap, with 4 partners, using a newspaper or magazine comic. It can be in color or black and white, a single panel or a strip and it can be the original or a Xerox or printer copy.

I was able to download a single panel comic from Google as a picture onto my computer and print out 4 panels on a page of cardstock to make 4 postcards.

For this swap you will make 4 handmade postcards using a favorite newspaper or magazine comic panel or strip. It can be color or black and white. You will have 4 partners and the 4 postcards can all be the same comic or you can do 4 different comics on the 4 postcards. The comic can be an original newsprint page from a newspaper or magazine, new or old comics (does not have to be current). You may use a Xerox or printer copy of your comic of choice. Please include the name of the comic i.e. “Garfield”, your swap-bot name and the short name of this swap "comics". No need to translate any language comic will do!

From the US Postal web site www.usps.com about postcard stamp prices: “Postcards sent in USA are $0.28 the Size limits are: Minimum: 3-1/2 inches high by 5 inches long by 0.007 inch thick Maximum: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high. Additional postage required for larger postcards that are over 4-1/4 inches high X 6 inches long X 0.016 inch thick are considered oversized. They will be charged as a letter or large envelope depending on the size.” For International:” First-Class Mail® International Postcards are $0.75 to Canada, $0.79 to Mexico, $0.98 to all other countries”

You will send 1 handmade postcard to (1 each) 4 swap partners. Your postcard should be appropriately postage stamped and sent “naked” to your 4 swap partners. Remember to include the name of the comic, your swap-bot name and the short name of this swap "comics".

This is a PG rated swap, nothing too racy that my kid couldn’t retrieve from our PO BOX and I would be OK explaining.

NEWBIES WELCOME! But I do reserve the right to exclude anyone I think may not be able to fulfill this swap.

Please communicate with your partner and myself if you are running late. I hope we can work out any problems with your partner before giving a 3 or 1 rating. I will angel if you need me to.

If this is similar to anyone’s swap I apologize in advance. I did a search didn’t find a newspaper comics swap and went for it!

Comment or PM me with any questions. This should be fun! Tricia pacificquest

Sorry to be picky, but why does it have to be an existing strip? I would love to send an old classic Sunday spread, like "Krazy Kat."

No problem! By existing I mean not a comic you made up and drew. A commercial comic. There is a current swap for comic artists right now, this is not it. Good old Sunday Funnies for us!

So yes! By all means use any newspaper or magazine comic you want! I love the oldies!

I'm hoping to get some foreign comic strips..I don't care if they're translated or not, but how cool would that be??? So, all you international folk, get on board!!!!!
