Description:

Dear Lost and Found Regional Offices,

It has come to our attention that our organization has recently acquired a number of articles belonging to certain persons who have wandered through The Hundred Acre Wood.

Such articles may include (but are not limited to):

  • a writing kit for a budding novelist
  • tools for spying
  • weapons for combat of magical creatures
  • items of clothing from a favorite outfit
  • food rations preferred by notable characters
  • accessories suitable for an important school dance
  • other similar items.

These articles were sent to our offices around the world accompanied by a letter explaining the contents of the package and how it came to be in the finder's possession. It is your duty to now return the articles to their rightful owners with all due haste.

As you can imagine, their owners are most anxious to have their properties returned. I have already had numerous calls from many of the parties involved, and I won't even tell you the sort of language the 12th princess used to demand her missing slipper.

You will have 6 weeks to carefully pack and ship your package, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. It is our hope that you will give this matter the attention and care it deserves.

Best,

L & F Service Headquarters
Los Angeles, CA, United States

The fine print:

Book items and props are sender's choice, and may be handmade, vintage, thrifted, altered, or purchased, but must show creativity in how they're put together. Handmade or thoughtfully-chosen vintage/thrifted is of course strongly encouraged wherever possible. And although it is sender's choice, it's always nice to check your partner's profile for likes and dislikes.

There is no minimum size, dollar amount, or specification for materials, but all must be significantly related to a book character, well-made, and of good quality. To be clear, this swap should include items similar to those listed above, something the character might have owned or is strongly associated with (not just book-themed bookmarks, etc), so please plan to put some time and thought into making your item or seeking it out. Please feel free to ask any questions if you need clarification.

You will also include a letter to the owner/recipient/book character. This may either be a letter from the L & F office explaining what it is and how we came to acquire it, or from the actual finder, it's up to you. Feel free to be as imaginative or detailed as you'd like!

Additional Notes & Inspiration

This swap originated in our Once Upon a Time group as a Lost & Found: fairy tale items swap. Do join the fun goings-on over there if you're not already a member--you'll see a lot of familiar faces!

Be sure to check out @Onyx 's amazing letter to @Masterbard from that swap as well. Fantastic and funny stuff.

And yes, since we're a book group and not a movie group, those slippers in the swap image should be silver. But they're harder to find than you'd think.

My apologies for the delay in partner assignments! I've extended the deadline by two days to make up for it.
