My "tag" line on twitter says "I'm a Martha Stewart Girl in a Mr. Roger's World".

I love Martha's crafts. Here's a cute one:

treasure chests

So, find a small box --fits in your hand.. a gift box.. jewelry size? and decorate it. Fan fold several strips of paper to fit --see picture above--to make pages. Glue the first page into the lid and the last page into the bottom of the box.

Each participant, in the comments below must list five types of things that YOU would like to have a "treasure chest" full of. Pictured are stamps, stickers .but can be other things as well. Pictures of whatever, ATCs, Inchies or twinchies, old photos, charms, baseball cards?, weird business cards, whatever your fancy.

From that list, you are to pick one category and make a mini treasure chest for your partner. Make it using as much recycled, collected materials as possible. It is not the goal to spend money on these boxes.

Be careful with postal regulations, I know some countries are very stringent on what they allow in. Please dont ask for something you cant get past the post office.. lol.. seeds or plants for example. I think even dead leaves count as "plants".

One box for one swap partner. Must be member in good standing. These boxes are small so i'm opening it to international.

I would like a treasure chest full of: Inchies or twinchies, old postage stamps, old girlscout or boyscout badges, anything mickey/minnie mouse, or good quotations.

This sounds great. Do you mount the little treasures on the accordian book pages? If yes what to you mount them with? Or do you put the litle treasures in the tin loose with the book?

AGoofyGirl 03/ 3/2011 #

Inchies, trinkets, Disney, keys, dreamcatchers, musicals

Oh...How fun. Cool idea.

Yes mount the treasure to the accordion book pages. you can use tape runner, scrapbook adhesive tape, double sided tape, glue dots, anything that will not screw up the item, but keep it on the "page".

Per a pm about attaching the accordion pages to the top and bottom: if its something like a vintage style tin box, I'd say just leave the accordion folded paper lay in the box. don't mess the vintage tin up by adhesive. Use your best judgment for other things like this.... keeping in the spirit of the swap is more important than following details that wouldn't matter too much.

Amaze me with some old postage stamps, buttons, checkered materials, (fragments of) book illustrations, trinkets! :)

Manurnakey 03/18/2011 #

I'd love anything itty bitty: like stickers, buttons, old stamps, tiny embellishments, or anything small scale. The smaller the better :)

I would love vintage ephemera, trinkets, old buttons, keys and or padlocks or artwork done by you.

Ive already listed, but I just thought this idea would work perfectly for using used tickets and the little book would have its own little story then, of where it has been, seen or done.

I would love: vintage or antique buttons or repro's of, bit's of antique type lace, antique type keys, anything "shabby chic" or "victorianesque" like mourning jewelry type or cameo's. Plastic or glass one's are very inexpensive.
