Description:

You will make 6 separate, individual pages for a 4" chunky fat book page swap. You will mail one 4" page to each of 6 partners. This means you in turn will receive 6 pages from your swap partners to bind together into your own Chunky Fat Book. You will make your own front and back covers and may bind the pages you receive in any way you desire.

The Theme of these pages: "Summer Loves" (document anything that you love about summer - the warm sunny weather, the flowers, vacation time, picnics, fishing, camping out, state fairs, gardening, fireflies on a star-lit night, etc. Because it is a "chunky" swap, it must have a minimum of at least one item of embellishment such as ephemera, fabric, felt, a trinket (button, bead or other dimensional item), a flap, pocket, pull-out tabs or moving parts like a spinning wheel, etc. Be creative!

Page size: 4" x 4"

Finish: Both sides, front and back

Page weight: Please use quality, substantial paper -like cardstock or thin cardboard- as a base to support the weight of the embellishments, decorative paper, painting, chipboard, stitching, etc that you will incorporate onto your page.

Embellish: Use any decorative elements you desire to express your theme. Be creative. This is more than just a stamped image or tacking on a few stickers with some writing. Make your pages artistic and creative. Put some effort into them for a delightful result. You may want to use: paint, decorative papers, fabric, buttons, chipboard, hand or machine stitched elements, sequins, beads, ribbons, charms, glitter, eyelets/rivets, brads, etc. etc.

DO NOT punch holes for binding! But allow for at least a 1/4" area as the left side of the page for the recipient to make their own holes for binding by their own methods. (You will not know ahead of time if the recipient will just use a hole punch with rings or ribbons, a Zutter or Cinch binding tool, spiral binding, or other method for binding). Just leave a 1/4" area/strip at the left edge un-adorned so not to interfere with the chosen binding method.

PLEASE DO SIGN your name and/or Swapbot name somewhere on your page so the receiver has a record who it is from and is able to rate you properly and acknowledge your creative work. Plus, this is your art that you should want to put your name to.

You must have a rating at least 4.89. I will check profiles for participants' current standings on ratings. I will ban anyone with recent 1's or 3's within last 6 months, and/or dependent if those issues have been resolved properly. If you have a compelling reason you think I should consider you even though you have 1's or 3's, send me a message, I'll do my best to be fair to you while protecting participants from likely flakers. Let's make this fun for everyone! I want to ensure that everyone not only sends their 6 pages, but also receives 6 pages in return. Newbies are welcome with a fully filled out profile page - I will check each one.

Your page is based upon the sender's preferences - what summer means to the sender and what the sender likes most about summer. All 6 of your pages may be the same if you like to make them assembly line style . . . or they can all be different if you get bored making repetitive things. The choice is up to you. Because it is sender's choice, you can work ahead of time on your pages and be able to send them out on time.

Postage: It is likely your page will require more than one stamp due to the extra weight of ribbons, beads, chipboard or other heavier embellishments. I purposefully kept the page size small - 4" x 4" - so the weight would not be excessive. If you can decorate your pages artistically and keep the weight down to one postage stamp that's great. However, there must be a minimum of at least one embellishment that is dimensional or the page has texture to it. Use your discretion (and a scale to measure the weight of various elements) as you are creating if you want to hold down the costs of postage.

Have fun creating!

I'm noticing we're not getting as much interest in this swap as I anticipated. Is it the number of pieces to send? What say you if I change it from 12 partners to 6 to make it easier and quicker to fulfill the swap? Other suggestions?

I made an executive decision today to decrease the number of pages/partners from 12 to 6 in the hope that more swappers participate. Hope that helps. PM me if you've been real busy making pages ahead of time, and you have already made your 12 pages. If so, we'll think of something so they don't go to waste.

I edited this swap to be more clear this is a sender's choice swap - this allows you to work ahead on your pages if you prefer rather than last minute. My idea all along is that the pages show the sender's favorite thing about summer, what the sender loves.

I think that this is a great swap idea, and 6 is far more do-able than 12. I just moved, so if I get my "maker station" craft area set up in time, I'm in! Otherwise, happy swapping.

@Audacity - if you want to be in on this swap Yay! another participant! I'm asking that you make each of your six pages different. I am going to still go ahead with the swap. We will split the pages up to send to each participant. If you're in, between the three of us we would each send two to the others. Will wait to see what happens if more sign on. If you don't sign on, no problem. I would just swap all my different pages with Flutterflies22. I had hoped more people would be interested in this swap, but guess that's the way it goes sometimes.

Alright, I'm in! I'm just returning to Swap-Bot after a couple of years away. This is my first big swap project, and I'm so excited! Thanks for hosting it, @Doreen247

Okay swappers . . . we have one more day open before the sign-up deadline closes on this swap. I just want to put a question forward to the four swappers who are currently signed up. If this swap closes tomorrow with only us four swappers (instead of the six I was hoping for as a minimum) would you want to make only one page for each other? or two pages? Has anyone already started with their six pages? I would hate to have your work be non-usable (although you could keep the extra pages for your own book) I am willing to commit to two pages each for the four swappers (eight total) if everyone agrees. I do not want to seem to be pulling a fast one and say you now have to do eight pages instead of six, but we have an odd amount as far as dividing up our pages if no one else signs on to this swap tonight. Please let me know your thoughts on this so we can all adjust accordingly and it makes for a happy swap.
