but not much more"

So says Morrissey, and there's more to this swap than just a book.

For this swap you are to first pick out a book (preferably one you have read and enjoy). It can be new or gently used. You are going to send this book to your partner.

Along with this book you will send along something that represents a part of the book. It can be the title, the setting, a character, anything that reminds you of the book. What you send can be handmade or store bought, but please put some time into what you send.

Lastly, you are to send along a note letting your partner know how what you are sending represents the book.

So, for example, I recently sent a copy of Charles Dickens'"A Christmas Carol" for the Classics' Swap (this was my inspiration). If I was sending this for this swap I might send along sheet music to a Christmas carol I enjoy or maybe a clock that chimes to remind the reader of the clock in the novel. Get it?

I think this will be super fun. I know that with certain books everytime I see something I think about that book. Do you feel the same way? Then this swap is for you.

If there are questions, comments, etc. Ask away.

I love this idea. I love books! I love being crafty! That makes this swap a double bonus!

I'm usually a picky reader but I love the idea of adding a physical reminder of the book! The books I love best are the ones with vivid descriptions of textures and tastes. (As a side note to whoever gets me as a partner, I really like historical fiction/fantasy these days) :) Looking forward to this one!

I'm from The Netherlands, but I would love to join. I can send an English book and wouldn't mind receiving an English one. Please let me know if it's okay to join for me. Thank you. :)

Marloes- I would love to have you join.

anyone sending overseas, you can send surface mail for only $4-5 US, it takes a little longer, so let your partner know , but I am fine with that if you don't want to send air. Any thoughts from others?

I discovered Global Priority mail through another swap. It starts at $4.50ish and only takes 4-6 days, If you can fit it in one of their envelopes (up to 4lbs!) its the minimum price. To me its worth the little extra to get it around the world quickly.

Trina- that's super cool to know and about the same cost as surface. Thanks.

My two cents about international trades--please keep in mind that it may take longer for packages to arrive--sometimes A LOT longer than expected. Swap-bot adds the link to rate your partner about a week after the deadline to mail packages, but if you're receiving / sending something to another country try not to be too quick on the draw. I just got a "1" rating because a package I sent to Canada apparently hasn't arrived yet. This totally bummed me out and kind of turned me off from wanting to do int'l trades eventhough I love corresponding with people from other countries. :(

I haven't sign up yet.... I have a few books in english though the choice here is not the best... but I'm wondering if anyone reads french? it could be a lot more easy for me...

I sent my contribution to my swap-partner in the USA today (oct. 16), by priority mail. I hope it arrives safe and soon! :)

Hey Zie - I haven't heard whether or not you have received a package yet. Can you please respond to me so that I know that you at least got it! Thanks so much! I hope you've enjoyed.
