About Me

I'm an American living in Germany, learning the language, and generally doing alright for myself.

I'm a crocheter, knitter, and sew-er. I have my eye on embroidering. I come from a crafty family but I'm the only one who actively indulges.

I'm a girl of traditional and modern sensibilities. I prefer real letters over email any day. In the age of bills and late notices and adverts, it's like getting a Christmas present on a random day of the year. A true joy to recieve.

I'm an active reader. I am also a pet owner, though my Pembroke Welsh Corgi (rescued!) Baxter is still back in Tennessee, dashing along my parents' big green yard. He trolls around with his little doggie minions--er, buddies.

I enjoy smart humor. I like irony. I greatly enjoy photography, but can only call it a hobby at best. I don't think I'm all that talented, just enthusiastic. :)

Favorite Books

John Adams, Jane Eyre, Lamb, paranormal romances. Romantic comedies. Romances in general. Biographies.

Favorite Movies

The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, both versions of Romeo and Juliet, StarDust, Serenity, The Fifth Element, 1776, Sleepy Hollow, Stargate, Pride and Prejudice, The Sword in the Stone, Flower Drum Song, The Producers, 1001 Arabian Nights, Newsies, The Canterville Ghost, The Saint, Goonies, and...alright, I admit it...Twilight (but I was rooting for Jacob).

Favorite Television

The Golden Girls, Bones, The Vampire Diaries, Ghost Hunters, Firefly, Many Korean/Japanese/Asian dramas, Jane Eyre (1982 with Timothy Dalton), Jane Eyre (2006 with Ruth Wilson), MythBusters, The First 48, Forensic Files, Downton Abbey

Things It Might Help To Know

If we are swapping something craft related, I can never have enough yarn or fabric. Yarn--cotton would be best, but I like acrylic too. I like bold colors. If you have any patterns for crochet or knitting, send them on over!

Fabric--I don't have any. Period. I like novelty prints, but stay far away from animal prints and John Deere. I don't really like stars or planet prints either. Bold colors apply here too.

Travel themes equal big love. I'm not so much into road map type things, but postcards, handmade or store bought journals to write in, good pens (I love those BIC pens, the short ones that you can just squeeze your hand to click?) to write with, handmade or store bought stationary with matching envelopes, envelopes made from magazines, or a handmade city guide would be great.

Stuff to stay organized with teaching--I've been a teacher of English as a Second Language for 3 1/2 years. I was in South Korea for one of those years teaching in a Korean kindergarten. I never got to go to China or Japan, but I will. I now live in Germany and plan to see much of Europe.

I majored in history.

For some reason, I find Christopher Moore's humor absolutely hilarious. Mostly because of his word play.

I like random facts. If they are historical in nature, you are my new best friend. You never know when you'll need this stuff on Jeopardy or during a rousing game of "Dude, Did You Know...?" (it's an ongoing challenge I've got going with my Biology-major best friend. I'm fighting on the side of Liberal Arts majors everywhere, lol)

I do not believe that a person must be formally educated to be considered intelligent. As a university grad, I have been witness to incredible acts of stupidity during my scholastic career.

I'm not very religious. I appreciate religion in all its forms, but I'd rather not get into overtly religious messages or discussions. You've got your way, I've got mine--it's all good.

I have a musical family. Mother--piano, guitar, accordian. Father--guitar, dulcimer, mandolin, drums, piano. Brother--drums, guitar. Me--Zip. Nada. No way. But I love music. Love love love it. I have been the captive audience for years.

Wishlist

Embroidery supplies. I would love a hoop or floss. Patterns are nice. I got a lovely starter kit from a swap-bot swapper and she started a passion that won't die.

Stationery. I'm not really a heart/flowers/puppies/kittens/Diddl/horses kind of girl.

I collect quotes to put in my journal and on my wall.

Index cards of all sizes and colors.

If I could get an embroidered quote, I think I'd die of craft joy overload.

I am a penpaller.

Note

If you don't recieve something, please let me know before rating. Resending is not a problem, especially if it's an email swap. I've been rated prior to being notified of an issue before, and it's not a pleasent feeling to not be given the chance to fix a mistake.

Comment: I had to find an online converted for grams to ounces/pounds so I could know how much of all these things you got. Silly American measurements! You must be a really light eater. I would have been hungry all week.... Also, you used tomatoes, onions, cheese, etc not in your shopping list. Not sure those qualify as condiments.... :)

Hiya!

I really enjoyed reading your profile, so much detail @u It gives me a good idea of your personality! I daydream about travelling all over the place & I'm so jealous of the places you've been! ;P Living in Germany & having taught in Korea..? That must have been a great experience :D As you are now in Europe you should jump on an interail train & see how much of Europe you can see by rail! ^-^

I'm also an avid letter writer & my sisters are both musical (love to sing especially) this totally bypassed me too =u= my creativity comes out on paper xD

Take care and have a nice day!

Sal ^u^

Hello, I am a partner for the leaving a commit on someone's profile. I sincerely apologize for being a day late, I mixed up my days. I must say I love your taste in movies. My personal faves from the list you mentioned are Stardust and The Fifth Element. It must be so fascinating and fun being an overseas teacher. I comend people who have the adventerous spirit to do such amazing things. Myselof, I can do a little bit of Crocheting, but the others are unfortunatly lost to me. I hope you dog in TN is having fun and I think it's wonderful your other dog is a rescue!
