About Me

OFF TO SPAIN, BACK OCTOBER 4, SO PLEASE GIVE ME CHANCE TO RATE OR RESEND IF NECESSARY! Hi, I'm 36. I have a partner and one son, two rats a hamster and a tank of tropical fish. I love to read, you may have guessed and I also like to write. I've had a couple of small pieces published. I love learning about other people and places and love getting stuff in the mail! I've been writing to my penpal in the US for 25 years now, I let her use email occasionally! I'm happiest with a pen and paper in my hand (or a book). I love notebooks when they're new, they beg to be scribbled in! In the real world, Im a support worker to three ladies with learning disabilities. I'm looking forward to getting involved here, it looks like a good site, good as in heartfelt! I would like to add that I rate as soon as I receive as I'm fast discovering how frustrating it can be to hang around wondering if someone has received your package or even your email swap. If I don't rate you and you think I should have the item by that time, pm me. I also read all my messages and reply to them. After all, good manners are free, right? By the way, I reuse packaging, so don't be put off if the package looks a little less than perfect when it arrives. I'm not too bad tho', I've had books arrived wrapped in nothing more than a plastic shopping bag, but I wouldn't go that far!! We now have a new member of the family! As of June 24, we have a 3 month old African Grey parrot. He's gorgeous! Unfortunately my partner has named him Travis Bickle! (I bought him for his 40th birthday and he's a big Deniro fan!)

Favorite Music

My favourite music ranges from Elvis Presley to Pink. I was a big Bon Jovi fan back in the day. I also like The Dixie Chicks. Mostly anything just not dance. I like the lyrics to mean something, to tell a story

Favorite Books

I will read anything. Altho I put a book down for the first time the other day, half read, something I've never done before! It was Twilight. I love Stephen King, Toni Morrison, Jane Austen. Loved We Need To Talk About Kevin. The Giving Tree. The Queen Must Die and Other Affairs of Bees and Men. Jodi Picoult Patricia Cornwell, Helen Dunmore.

Favorite Movies

Bridges of Madison County Seven Pounds I am Legend E.T. Touched By Love, Terminator, 3:10 to Yuma, The Lost Boys, Young Guns, Interview With the Vampire,

Favorite Television

LOST!!!! and 24. But nothing comes between me and Jack and all the rest of the island! I don't really watch much TV, but I like quiz shows, The Weakest Link is my favourite.

likes and dislikes

Food is very much my downfall so it will be easier to list what I don't like! mash potato can't think of anything else right now!! I love sweets and chocolates and crisps.

My favourite colours are black purple cerise but I don't like peach or any pastel colour really.

I like walking, being outdoors. I love animals but I would squish a cockroach because they make me squirm!!

I don't like bubble bath, but I do like body lotions and scented oils, candles.

I'm a coffee drinker and I don't drink tea. I like hot chocolate too.

Favorite Crafts

I used to do a lot of cross stitch and embroidery but I seem to have let that slide as I've been writing more lately. Someone recently bought me this huge scrapbooking starter kit so I may get started on that soon as my mum and stepdad are coming up to their 25th anniversary. And looking around here I think I may well get inspired! I would like to have more time to learn more about photography, but I think you have to have an 'eye' for this kind of thing and sadly I don't think I do! I'm hoping all you people are going to bring out my creativity!! I'm also liking the idea of ATC's which I hadn't heard of till I came on here, but I may try my hand at in the future. I like to cook when I have the time. Well, I cook everyday, but I mean something different and baking cakes is my fave. And I find making bread is something of a stress buster as long as it rises!! I'm teaching myself Iris Folding too and hope to have a go at those cute little pincushions. And lately getting back into drawing, in particular, fairies and manga. I like card making and journaling, I've been enjoying creating a couple of journals since I joined swap-bot.

wishlist...

I don't have a wish list as such. Anything to do with the art of writing or reading will be fine. I'm just looking forward to receiving things from other people and maybe learning a little about them. Just no bubblebath/oil-I can't use 'em I'm afraid. Oh and I'm not very girly either! But I'm not fussy! I like fairies and angels! Just starting to try out Dotee Dolls, so fabric would be welcome too. Thanks to everyone who have sent me ATC materials, I now have plenty, thanks very muchly!

Comment: I agree with you about the book-to-movie thing. They often leave out the best parts and you never get the same feeling and get to experience it as much as you did with the book. Maybe also because I like imaging things MY way, and it often doesn't match up with how they then bring it to life in the movie. I'm always like, no he/she doesn't look like THAT!
