I am a grad student working in a cancer biology research lab.....in another life, I was a really artistic person who played many instruments and did crafts all the time! This site is wonderful, I am looking forward to digging into some projects for these fun swaps....I definitely need the creative outlet and am looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with! But more about me.....I just celebrated my first wedding anniversary, my husband and I bought our first house this year, and we have two cats (Gus and Bella) and a puppy (Teddy). My very best friends are my mom and my two sisters, who I miss and talk to whenever I can....but I am very lucky to have my wonderful husband and great friends here in Dallas to hang out with as well! My birthday is the same week as Christmas, and I am a total nut for the holidays!! My whole life, holiday-themed crafts have been my favorite....so I look forward to making some fun cards and decorations to share with people! Plus I take a million pictures of my garden and my pets, so I like making nature and pet themed cards and scrapbook pages, too.
scrapbooking, photography, needlepoint, beadwork, painting, floral arrangements, and home improvement/gardening (definitely a craft for the artistic-minded!) Plus, I am a total nut for all kinds of holidays, so I look forward to sharing my holiday spirit with everyone!
I am really getting back into scrapbooking and card making/stamping, so I'm on a constant lookout for embellishments, rubber stamps, and stamping/embossing supplies and accessories.
I have about 75 gb of music and I have really prided myself in organizing it into a lot of themes and genres and playlists.....I LOVE music and I LOVE to share mixes! Like I said, my life was very centered around music when I was younger....I truly considered becoming a music performance major (I played the piano and french horn and participated in competitions all over the country....) So, I love all kinds of music.....classical, opera, jazz, indie, country, showtunes, movie scores and of course pop......I really can't think of a single genre of music that I don't care for (except maybe metal/"industrial" and some rap...basically anything that is really harsh and screeching or contains overtly offensive messages).
Medical themed (grey's anatomy, House MD, ER, Scrubs), Sci-Fi (LOST, stargate sg-1, X-files, Star Trek Next Generation), Sit coms (Friends, Seinfeld), "oldies" (i love lucy, i dream of jeanie, bewitched, dick van dyke, etc) any documentary (I love LOVE discovery channel and history channel)
Lately I have been reading the Twighlight series, because my little sister loved them and I have found some of my other favorites through her being in love with books! Other examples of that are Harry Potter....I was totally a skeptic of those books at first (I guess back then I was a literature elitist and didn't think that I could possibly be stimulated by stories about little wizards) but boy was I wrong! That being said, I truly do love delving into some good meaty fiction that makes you think. I loved recently reading the books "Kite Runner" and "Thousand Splendid Suns" because they made me learn so much about the history and culture of Afghanistan. I also like reading popular science books, because it is refreshing to read science written in an entertaining way instead of the cut-and-dry way that I have to read it all the time at work in the research business....
My husband and I watch probably 10 movies a week, we belong to the blockbuster program where you get them in the mail and then can swap them for free at the store....We have been working our way through a book called "501 must-see movies" which has been exposing us to a lot of classics. Basically, I'm just a movie enthusiast.....I'm willing to watch anything, and my interests are varied. I have always loved good stories, whether it be historical, sci-fi, action, whatever.
rubber stamps clear stamps acrylic blocks for clear stamps inkpads embossing powder embellishments (especially holiday ones!) specialty paper any kind of chocolate (but esp. dark and white!) bookmarks bookplates potpourri lip gloss/chapstick.....i'm addicted! mix CDs (any kind of music, I love it!)
licorice green tea ummm.....i guess i'm easy to please, can't think of more right now!
