About Me

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I appreciate it.

Just an FYI. I don't always get my mail picked up every day. So I usually only rate a couple times a week, so sometimes there may be a slight delay in when I get a swap and when I rate it. But I always rate. Please contact me if you do not get a rating, just to be sure I actually received the swap. Also, please contact me if you don't receive a swap in a timely manner. I am always happy to resend if something goes missing in the mail. I believe in good communication on swap-bot, and will not be offended if you ask me about a swap status. If you need to mail late, please just let me know. I am understanding, but only as long as you let me know ahead of time. If you are sending me a tag, etc. from a Group, please include a note as to what the tag is and which Group it is. And thanks for anything you send to me.

I also don't go to the post office every day. I try to limit it to once a week if possible. So if I owe you a tag or something, it may not get mailed out right away. But it is coming!

Now on a more personal note. I am married to a really great guy and my best friend (maybe I should tell him more often...) It is my 2nd marriage. I guess the 1st time was just practice.... I have 2 grown children (no grandchildren) and we have a Golden Retriever named Hunter. And a miniature chihuahua named Mattie. What would we do without our pets?

I love artsy stuff of most any kind. It amazes me the talents that people have and I always enjoy studying other's creativity. If you want to send me something you have made I would love it. I like to think of myself as an artist, but it is really more an artist-wanna-be, and I have so much to learn from all the amazingly talented people out there.

In the past I have painted and drawn and sewn and played piano and written poetry, and probably dabbled a bit in most all arts & crafts stuff. I like ATCs, postcards, journals, dolls, bags, etc. It's all fun to me.

I read a lot, and just know I will never get all my books read! "So many books, Too little time" is what I believe.

I love the theatre and try to go often. I love art galleries and museums too. My husband & I own our own business which keeps us busy and so I don't have as much time to Play as I like, but I try!

Favorite Books

I have to say I love most books. I don't know if I could live without books in my life. I love Shakespeare. And Poetry. But I also love science fiction/fantasy books. Some of my favorite authors are: Clive Barker, Robert Heinlen, Margaret Atwood, Anne Rice, and Charles De Lint. Just to name a few. It always changes depending on what I might be reading these days. I don't really like romance novels, although I used to read them. I like books that make you think! I love large coffee table books and tiny miniature books. I love books about art and artists to inspire me. I will read most anything, or at least give it a try.

Favorite Movies

Favorite Movies? I don't really watch a lot of movies. I like The Big Chill, The Way We Were, Lord of the Rings, Paint Your Wagon, Pirates of the Caribbean. Obviously a wide variety. But mostly because I just don't take the time to sit down and watch movies very often.

But I would much rather go to live Theatre than go to a movie. The Theatre is way more interesting!!!! We have a couple local theatre groups that always have great productions. I don't get to see everything, but I do go as often as possible. I participated in theatre groups in high school, which was an amazing experience and helped me learn a lot about myself. I always want to support live theatre in the community.

Favorite Television

TV? I really don't like TV, but I do watch more than I should. My husband loves TV and so we watch. We watch a lot of sports. And we like the shows like CSI or Bones or Criminal Minds. That type of thing. I don't really like a lot of situational comedy, and defintely do not watch any of the so-called Reality shows or contests like American Idol.

Favorite Music

I love lots of different music also. I guess I am just not able to be put in a box (LOL). Some of my favorite artists are: Elton John, Jimmy Buffet, James Blount, Kenney Chesney, Brandi Carlisle, Loreena McKennit. But really I listen to anything. About the only thing I don't really like is RAP music. If you want to send me music, I would like you to pick out something you like and tell me why. That way I get to listen to new music, rather than what I already know I like.

Favorite Crafts

I am always trying new arts and crafts. I have tons of supplies for a lot of different things. Too much stuff!!!! I have lots of fabric and do different kinds of fabric crafts. I like using beads and charms in the stuff I create. Dolls are so much fun to make. I've been making ATCs and Postcards, which is fun and easy to work with small pieces. And now skinnies, and inchies. I like quilting and applique, but haven't been working on any lately. Zentangles are absolutely addictive!

I want to explore my creative side more, but don't always have the time to devote to it. I have met some amazingly creative people and they inspire me to at least always try something. I wish I could make money doing this fun stuff, so I didn't have to work. HaHaHa I love the magazines "Cloth, Paper, Scissors" and "Quiting Arts".

Things I love

I love the water, the ocean, lakes, rivers, babbling brooks. It just speaks to me. And the colors of water, blues, greens, teals, etc. And mermaids of course, they go along with water don't they?

I also love trees. Anything to do with trees is wonderful.

I also love paisley, and circles, so anything with that type of design is great. Of course, I love chocolate! (but don't send any in the summer, it just makes a melty mess) and caramel and coffee (especially Starbucks). Any kind of funky fibers or trims or beads or embellishments that I can use in my newly developing addition to fiber art is fabulous. I really love the grungeboard product, so if you want to send me some of that, I would love it! And rubber stamps and stamp pads and paints......etc.

I'd really like some old black/white photos. Sometimes you can find them at garage sales and such.

Let's see....I also love sticky notes and notecards.... art books and poetry.... stickers... dolls... wind chimes... beads & charms... stationery... hummingbirds... peacocks.... bags... magazines... journals and notebooks.... nature stuff is always cool....I love quotes, so anything with special quotes is nice, like rubber stamps or stickers....I like those little miniature books you find with bits of wisdom or quotes or photos.... I like vintage stuff but also like modern and art-deco stuff....I am really easy to please.

If you do a particular craft and want to send me something I would love it. Maybe you knit or weave or make dotees or jewelry or bags or whatever. I love to see what others are creating. And I am very appreciative of the time and work involved.

I really love all colors, so you don't need to worry about sending me something in a color that I hate. Anything is great with me.

If you want to send something for my hubbie, he loves T-shirts, usually wears a 2XL. If you send him a t-shirt with beer or a brewery or bar logo on it, he will be very happy.

If you send me something that isn't quite me, that's OK. I'll find somebody who does love it and send it on. I do believe in re-gifting and recycling, and I do try to reuse packaging whenver possible. I hope nobody is offended by that.

Things I don't love

Well, I've taken this list out. If you read my profile, then you probably will send me something I like, and if you don't read my profile, then it won't matter if I have this list or not. I truly will be happy with most things. If you do send something I don't like, I will find somebody who does like it. Of course, that doesn't mean you can send me all your junk, but if you accidentally send something that isn't me, I will try to find a new home for it.

But I really Don't like Spiders, so please don't send anything with spiders on it. That is the only thing that will really upset me.

people who have flaked, etc

I hate to add this category, but maybe it will inspire people to actually participate fully in the swaps. These are people who have flaked on me or on one of my swaps that I hosted.

OregonMeadow, dangerouslycrafty, TheCatsMeeeow, KrissyVB, frustrated20042002, Dani182, sonambula, sukisho100, CraftyDiana, eunbiumma, Paralistocrat, Christa28, cdk51179, Deanna77, ManicSpider, CarriesCorner, nikirniemeier, badgerlore, lumikko, itsawolfparty, aghebert, sydxknee, deenakate

I do have some people who have never rated me or responded to my messages. I don't really want to add their names, but it does bother me that they don't care enough to rate.

Also please remember to put the swap name and your user name on what you send? I have had several swaps where I have had to spend lengthy amounts of time trying to track down what swap the item was for. Most of the time I can eventually figure it out, but I do still have a couple cards that have no swap names or user names on them. I hope these people eventually contact me to find out if I received it, then I can rate them.

And always, Happy Swapping!

Comment: Thank you for the wonderful zentangle! It's so much fun to see an individual's style and compare it to my own! Great job. :)
Response: I admit I love seeing what everyone else does as well. One of my local groups that I belong to has several people who are really into Zentangles and they always bring them to share and it is so incredible how different everyone's style is. Truly inspirational.
