About Me

Profile last updated on Oct 28, 2009

Because I'm going back to school in January and I'm trying to cut back on my expenses I will only be doing private and group swaps from now on. Any public swaps that I host as a series will continue til they're done but other than that I will not be signing up for public swaps anymore.

A note about my Etsy Favs: A lot of items say "SOLD" but the majority of the things on my Etsy are reposted. So while it says they are gone they are not. I'm too lazy to delete and refav so I just leave the sold listing posted. I do go through Etsy once a month or so to make sure that my list is updated in case the item is no longer being made.

I base hearts on the quality of the SWAP, not the extras. If you want to send extras, that's fine, but it will not get you a heart. I only give hearts if the swap shows heartfelt effort and creativity.

I'm a major animal lover. I intend on opening my own shelter one day (probably dogs only but if there's enough funding it'd be open to cats, farm animals, etc). My friends consider me the "crazy dog lady".

My free time is normally spent taking pictures, reading, playing volleyball/soccer, scrapbooking, volunteering...I actually do a LOT of things. I'm pretty much open to anything.

I dream of traveling. I would love to go to Africa and help at a wildlife rehab center. My dream vacation would be in Australia.

LIKES: Color - Green and Blue

Food - Ice cream, fruits, veggies, chocolate (especially chocolate covered gummy bears), pretty much anything. I enjoy cooking and trying new things.

Animals. Especially dogs but I love them all. Horses, cats, cows, wildcats, elephants. You name it, I love it. Oh and I'm also obsessed with walruses. I threatened my boyfriend about having a walrus as part of the bridal party if someone can't make it...hehehe walruses in top hats and bowties!

Travel. I'm really intrigued by Australia, Costa Rica, South Africa. Though I'm not picky. I'm pretty sure if I had the opportunity to go to Iceland, even though it's colder than where I am now, I would go.

Outdoors. As a photographer, I love taking inspiration from nature in everything I do.

Sports. I enjoy participating much more than I do watching. I play in a recreational volleyball team, as well as soccer. I also love broomball, snowboarding, attempting yoga, hiking, swimming, and dreaming about learning how to surf.

Personality - I'm generally shy at first but after that I'm this insanely hyper, bubbly person. I'm always laughing at something, quite often at myself! I'm equal parts spazzy/weird/bouncy. And I LOVE color! I think that's the photographer in me.

Favorite Music

I am a music lover. I mainly listen to alternative rock but I also listen to some heavy rock, christian rock, new agey weird stuff (I like the sounds of monks chanting in the rain...I'm a little weird). I can adapt to most music though if I need to. I once had an opera singer for a neighbor which teaches you a LOT of music tolerance.

Bands I love: Incubus, Yellowcard, Seether, Kutless, Lostprophets, Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin, and a ton more!

Favorite Books

Authors:

  • Jennifer Weiner

  • Meg Cabot

  • Jodi Piccoult

Books:

  • Harry Potter series

  • Guitar Highway Rose

  • Wicked (first two were awesome, don't like the third one)

Tons more that I can't think of right now!

Favorite Television

  • America's Next Top Model - Love the photography.

  • So You Think You Can Dance - I wish I could do half the things they do on that show.

  • GLEE!!! Love it, love it, love it!

  • It's Me or The Dog - Victoria Stillwell is a genius.

  • CSI Las Vegas - I'm a fanatic and I don't know why!

  • Family Guy - nuff' said.

Favorite Crafts

I'll try really really hard to improve my drawing/painting/hand-eye coordination in general. But I'm really more of a photography girl.

I love making scrapbook pages and collages. I like to crochet and sew. I'm up for trying anything once though.

Swap-bot has opened me up to a ton of new crafts. I now LOVE chunky pages, dotees (though I'm still learning), and Etsy, naturally. I'm becoming obsessed with stuffies!

I'm always up for private swaps so throw me a line if you're ever interested. Just because you don't see it here doesn't mean I'm not interested in trying it ;-)

Charities I Love

These are just some of the many organizations I love and support! Please consider dedicating your time to an organization that needs help. You'll be doing yourself and others a heartful of good :-)

Craft Hope The Toy Society Best Friends Animal Society

Wishlist

A good look at my profile will pretty much tell you the general themes that I love but here's a quick peek, in random order, if you got tired of reading through everything:

Animals - Especially dogs and walruses but any animal is awesome to me...give me a variety if there's a multiple item swap

Beach - I love summer so the beach is always awesome to me. I want to learn how to surf, I play volleyball, I enjoy palm trees and waves, I LOVE walruses...the beach is always a safe theme for me.

Travel - I literally want to go everywhere.

Photography - The more personal it is to you the more intrigued I am, so if you send pictures you've taken yourself don't hold back! If you send photography themed items I can tell you right now I will love it.

Sweet foods - This can be anything from candy to fruits. I like food in general but anything that can grab my sweet tooth (or remind me of summer, like fruit does!) makes me happy!

Bright colors - My favorites are green and blue but I love anything that isn't just plain black or white...again, variety!

Anything that smells amazing (although I'm warning you, I own all the smells I love from Bath and Body Works...which is about 3/4 of the entire store's smells...)

As far as specific items go:

Fabric (again look at themes)

Scrapbooking items (for the record I have a TON of those Animal Stacks pages and I don't like glitter so please limit the glitter pages...my dogs will probably eat it again and I don't want to take them to the vet)

Anything handmade

Something from Rimfrost! Especially something McMorbid...I love this cartoonist!

Unique items that you can only find/make in your area (kinda relates back to travel I suppose).

If you can find something from above in my profile feel free to send it! This is just a general guideline for those who require it for swaps. Feel free to stray from this list and use the rest of my profile as a hint of what to get me! I love surprises!

Dislikes/Do Not Need

I don't like/don't need:

I'm allergic to smoke! If you're a smoker or have a wood stove please keep any items for me away from it.

  • HATE HATE HATE SPIDERS!!!

  • Postcards - the occasional one is fine but I don't use them (unless specifically requested)

  • Although I love fantasy and magic and all that jazz I am not a fan of Wiccan/Pagan items. The only time I want something obviously Wiccan/Pagan is if I asked out of curiousity (I like learning other people's beliefs, though please respect my own).

  • No PETA please! I appreciate what they're trying to do but I do not agree with the majority of their marketing strategies (again, I respect your beliefs, please respect mine).

  • Disney Princesses. I don't have anything against them, I've just never been into them. I'm kind of a tomboy >_< Again, unless specifically requested I don't really have any use for them. Though I do like the majority of other Disney stuff.

  • Coffee or tea flavored anything...just...ew...

If there is something you want to send me that you are unsure of, feel free to ask :-)

My Husband

My husband requested a part on my profile. He's been getting jealous. Even though I share he's asked that I put this on here. He would love to get mail (other than junk and bills) and would like:

  • candy from other countries (or cool candy you don't find in normal stores)

  • "cool crafty things"..."you don't craft"..."no, but I think it's cool when others craft..." His definition of cool crafty things is "things that people craft that are cool." He's so vague. So amigurumi, origami, anything car or video game related, etc he'd like.

  • geeky fabric would be awesome. I wanna try to make him a geek quilt someday but have only found a few at the stores here. Computers, parts, electronics, gadgets, things that just seem nerdy or geeky in nature would be perfect :-D

  • darling that he is, hubby has taken up knitting. He's getting pretty good at it too. So any patterns, yarn, needles, or even tips and tricks you've learned through the years would be cool. He loves Magic Yarn Balls!

  • he's also joining the Navy so any form of encouragement would make his day :-)

Comment: Hello Dani, Thank you for the three Chunky Pages you created for me for the letters M, N, and O. The one I really liked was the "N" page that you created the letter "N" with all nuts. The other two pages were interesting, too. I will add them to my Chunky Page collection. Happy Swapping! Barb sleepingrover2010
Response: The N page gave me the most trouble too! I just couldn't think of anything until the toolbox was brought out. Glad you like them!

I have known for years that there are many wonderful people in this world, and a lot of them are right here on Swap-bot. Your kind and generous offer to join a group of special angels --- helping me to make and send a total of 210 handmade ornaments for those who were flaked on in the MEGA Christmas 2009 Ornament Swap --- is VERY much appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If I can ever do anything to help you out in return, please let me know. (“;) Hugs, Terry

Hi! Yikes that is kind of tough...I think keep it at 3 since that is how the rest has been.

Time wise...perhaps P-R due maybe the second week of December and then don't start the S-U till Jan. sometime?

Or if you decide to just wait and do P-R the end of Dec, just PM/e-mail everyone in the last swap and let them know you'll start it up after the holidays. I think the important thing is for everyone to know we are still going to get to do it if we take a little hiatus for the holiday season. =D
