I do mixed media art, scrapbook and love to make ATC's. I've made lots of good friends through my blog and love them all.
My favorite music is classical, country, old rock and roll, don't like jazz. Love Chris Daughtry, Colbie Callat and the Arrogant Worms. Still love Ozzie.
Love the theatre, especially Broadway shows, preferably in Manhattan whenever I can.
I love to travel, been to Cuba, Thailand, Mexico, Barbados, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Antigua, 1/2 of the US states and all of the Canadian provinces, except Newfoundland or the Yukon. I would love to go to Antarctica.
I like cats, especially mine, dogs too, but not so much as cats. Guinea pigs are cute, but they have lousy manners. I think birds should only exist in Art, but Art is always made better with a bird, IMO. I love owls. And clocks, anything to do with Time. I'm a passionate scrapbooker. I love to visit art galleries, Especially the National Gallery in Ottawa, and MOMA in New York. I liked the Art Gallery in Palm Springs and wish I could go back to Washington DC and spend a week in each of the Smithsonian Museums.
Not much into movies, although I liked Avatar and recently went to see the Prophet. I enjoyed it.
I read mainly books on Art, Travel, Art Journals, Art Techniques, sometimes books about the criminal justice system which is my field of work. I like cookbooks with pictures. Not too much into self-help and new age anymore, Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I'm not a vegetarian either and never will be.
I love to horseback ride in the mountains and hope to do the zipline through the jungle again one day. My dream is to visit Jordan and see Petra.
I was raised by the ocean and now live in the middle of the country-I miss the seaside and if I close my eyes, I can hear the waves wash up against the sand. I can smell the salt and hear the seagulls. I live next to the Rockie Mountains though, so I really can't complain. I love boats, any kind. Cruise ships, ferries, submarines, warships, been on them all. Pretty good at driving a speedboat, if I do say so myself. lol Now if there were only some water here...
I love my camera and Adobe Photoshop Elements. I love my computer and all three go together really well for me.
I'm into Steampunk these days (who isn't?) and I learned about Inchies on a Scrapbooking Cruise about 6 years ago-did nothing about it then. Now I love making them and receiving them!
My favorite colour depends on the day, sometimes the hour. You can't go wrong with any colour as far as I'm concerned, except maybe very light pastels, but for the foreseeable future, my fav would be turquoise. I'm partial to purple and gold together these days too. Any rich colours are especially wonderful!
If you are from overseas, or for that matter, the US, I would dearly love any emphemera from your country or state-anything would be wonderful!! I like retro, which is the generation I grew up in, so it's really not "retro" to me.
I spend hours and hour on my own by the river, exploring abandoned buildings in the countryside, or bundled up in cold weather taking pics of the hoarfrost. I do more still life than people. I do a daily photo calendar on Shuttercal. I love Autumn the most, all the beautiful colours, but winter can be beautiful, if I can go inside quickly. :-)
My daughter is in her second year of University in another city. So I live alone now. I'm OK with that.
Dislikes: Arrogant people, people who have no boundaries and no self-respect, yet somehow have a sense of entittlement, people who mistreat animals or others.
I don't like cutesy things, like mice or little country folk. I much prefer edgy. Having said that, I love anything vintage and I'm partial to girly-girl! Sparkly is always good. I love ATC's but you already know that if you're my swap partner!
I'm pretty open-minded about most things, as long as you don't try to shove your religious beliefs down my throat. I have my own, thank you very much.
And I am definitely NOT a fan of the nanny state. I'm sick of people telling me who I should listen to, what I should or should not eat, do, think. MYOB. Having said that, I LOVE all things arty-if you made it, I will appreciate it. If I receive something that I can't use, I'll send it on.
And I have discovered that I LOVE snail mail. who knew? Just when hardly anyone is using it, there are a few of us who have (re)discovered the joy of running to the mailbox when we get home from work to see what treasures are in there today! Could life be any better?
