About Me

My real name is Lindsay and I live in Scotland. I like most colours/designs from cute to contemporary and love to get new and interesting things. If you get me as a swap partner I am really easy to please, if you like what you are sending chances are so will I!

If you are going to be late with a swap or have some kind of personal hic cup please just message me and don’t worry. We all have real worries and swaps should be fun not stressful. I am an easy going person and wouldn’t want anyone panicking about being late or contacting me! :0)

If you want some further details them my likes, loves and dislikes pertaining to Swap-bot are as follows:

My favorite flowers are pansies, sunflowers and daisies. I love postcards of other places; blank cards or notelets (just nothing too small as I am visually impaired so write big nowadays). I like fancy papers I can put in the printer.

I love to write letters but am instantly excluded when a swap insisted on handwritten correspondence. If you are writing me a note or letter or email I will love to read it but please write or type it BIG! :0) I can only read via audio books/speech software but I love poems and quotes and small passages of reading that I can access with a magnifier or mum’s eyes!

Colors: all shades of green, pink, brown, and beige or cream for my home. To wear I prefer: black, brown, green, grey and beige with touches of dull pink, dark red or purple. I like hats, scarves (woolen not sheer) socks and bags made of anything! I don’t wear much make up or Jewelry except the odd pretty broach or bracelet.

Smelly perfumed items and bath things are not ideal for me as I have major skin allergies so use a lot of boring medicated stuff with no smell! I do like trying new lip glosses or balms, and hand creams are usually great too.

I love tea but coffee not so much (and only instant kinds when I am at home! :0). I drink Assam tea now and all the flavored herbal kinds. I love to try new flavours but prefer bags (shop sealed and not homemade) rather than loose teas. I love hot chocolate! I cannot cook but want to learn to bake so woud love baking stuff and recipes for cup cakes, cookies, loafs and cakes!

Sweets/Candy that I love are: jelly beans and gummy bears, coca cola bottles and tic tacs! Chocolate I like mostly milk and occasionally white but not dark. I love Reece’s Peanut Butter (anything peanut butter LOL), Hershey Bars with Almonds from the US, and basically regarding chocolate made in Europe well it is all so gorgeous why specify! :0) UK goodies are: flakes, galaxy mistrals and maltezers, but I love most of the home grown stuff!

I LOVE wool/yarn. Any type and any colour. New (or clean second hand) wool/yarn can always find a home here with me and be put to good use. I use wool I don’t just collect it!

I use mainly Acrylic wool/yarn because I like to crochet blankets for charity and they need to be affordable for me. But I love trying others: cotton, washable wools, fluffy etc. Any brand of Acrylic that is also a multi coloured or textured would thrill me! And please don't panic if I sign up for a fancy yarn/wool exchange you won't get a big ball of Acrylic from me. I would not send inexpensive yarn if I have signed up for a good quality yarn exchange!

IF you are looking for something extra to send me though Acrylic yarn is the way to go! :0) Nothing needs to be expensive.Red Heart or Pound/Euro/Dollar shop is OK by me! Also with yarn ignore my colour preferences as I crochet for babies/children/teens via Project Linus so any colour finds a use and sometimes new colours inspire great blankets.

I would love to receive crochet hooks in plastic, aluminum, bamboo or wood. Bright coloured hooks are hard to find here and help me with my eyes so much! I also love funky or pretty measuring tapes, needle cases, pincushions, scissor fobs/keeps and bags, baskets, small notebooks and pens for project details, as well as tins or boxes for storing my supplies of wool, notions and crocheted squares in!

I don’t have any pets but I love cats and things with cats on them, also butterflies, sheep/lambs, birds and monkeys. Elephants make me sad. I love little houses, doorways and windows as well as anything with pictures or drawings of gardens and flowers on.

I prefer useful things rather than decorative things (unless we are talking about handmade items which I love). I love anything with a mother and daughter theme as my mum is my best friend!

I have done most crafts at some time in my life:cross stitch (even did model stitching for UK magazines), needlepoint, patchwork, quilting, miniatures, scrapbooking, card making, drawing and painting and now because of my eyes I can only knit on very large needles or crochet.

I live to crochet it literally keeps me sane and I make everything with it: blankets, bags, sachets, purses, scarves etc. I now run a crochet and knitted charity blanket project called Little Lamb which gives blankets to babies, children and elderly people in the UK.

I like handmade ornaments and small toys (stuffies and amigurumi fascinate and inspire me). Any new small toys or beanies would be wonderful for adding to my baby and children pocket blankets! I like black and white photographs and postcards from other countries. I don’t really collect anything but I do like small tins or boxes and polished stones.

I Love country music and other gentle music with moving lyrics…that takes in some folk, soft rock, Celtic and easy listening. In music I don’t like being screamed at or abused but I do like to hear new people/groups and to widen my horizons. I am starting to enjoy instrumentals and gentle classical music too.

I was brought up Christian and do love Christian songs and items though I am not devoutly religious more spiritual. I find information and artifacts from other faiths and cultures fascinating and am especially interested in Judaism.

I do not like cruel humour (about how funny it is that we are fat, lazy, drunk, slutty or have a dirty homes) or anything to do with politics in any country! It is bad enough I have to consider it when election time comes here in the UK, I sure don’t want to get involved in what is going on elsewhere! :0)

Things I dislike are rudeness, greed, moaning and nit picking (in profiles this upsets me to read). I have had the odd ‘flaker’ on here and also been disappointed once or twice, but if I don’t get a package or get something which is dirty or nasty in some way then it won’t ruin my life it just reflects badly on the sender (or non-sender).

If you send me something you like and have put an effort into making or choosing then the chances are I will like it.If you are going to be a little late I will be understanding as life has its ups and downs! Most of the contact I have had on Swap-bot has been good and there are so many lovely people!

I know we all have different tastes and that sometimes people have quirky senses of humour which maybe I cannot relate to (God knows I can find odd things funny too), but I always try to rate fairly and I hope others will do the same for me. Happy Swapping!
