I'm quite new to the internet and to Swap-bot. But I am not new to exchanging which I have been doing for years. I wanted to say right off that if you are having trouble getting a swap out to me on time please do not panic about it. Just let me know I won’t be nasty or give you a bad rating just for being a couple of days late. We all have real life problems and swaps are supposed to be about fun and friendship not about stress and upset! :0) I am Scottish but lived for some time in Singapore, Canada and the USA.I'm retired and live with my daughter.
If you want some further details about my likes and dislikes read on:
I love useful things rather then things that are purely decorative. I was very ill in 2006-2007 and it changed my attitudes to a lot of things. I like to keep things simple and minimalist now and live for the moment.
I enjoy: bookmarks, sheer scarves, magnets, any stitching, knitting or craft magazine or gadget that is funny, pretty or funky.
I am not really into music much anymore but I love to read! My daughter and I listen to audio books while we craft and I also read other books all the time! I read mostly crime but nothing too graphic/violent.
I am always open to trying a new authors especially ones set in other countries as I have UK crime fiction pretty much sewn up (no pun intended). I love Robert B Parker’s books and a copy of any of his titles even second hand would delight me as they are not easy to find here at all!
I don't really 'get' the kind of trendy humour that is based on being nasty it makes me unhappy rather than happy (must be my age). I love quotes and sayings and those little cards you tuck into books!
My favorite flowers are hydrangeas, roses, poppies and daisies. I love blank cards or notelets and writing pads as long as they are unlined. I also like magnetic list pads for the fridge and list pads in general as I seem to forget everything nowadays so need to make notes!:0) Roller ball or ball point pens in fun designs are great and whilst I don’t do any card making or paper craft I would enjoy some handmade cards or envelopes very much.
Colors I like are: all shades of blue, green, pink, cream and purple. I wear lighter shades now: soft grays and fawns with pastels or bright warm colours. I don’t wear much black, brown or beige. I hate wearing hats but love things decorated with them!
I love sheer smallish scarves and shopping/clutch style bags made of anything interesting! For jewelry I like bangles, and also clips or broaches for my scarves but modern nothing too traditional! I have pierced ears but only wear smallish stud style earrings nothing that dangles!
Smelly perfumed items and bath things are not for me anymore as I have major skin allergies. I do use pretty smelling soap to scent my clothing in my drawers and in a decorative bowl in the bathroom.
I love tea, but don’t drink coffee or hot chocolate at all. I drink Assam tea now and we like to try all the flavored herbal/fruit teas available. I like bags rather than loose teas.
Sweets I enjoy are those gourmet type jelly beans and for Chocolate I like dark and sometimes milk with no nuts. We usually eat UK chocolate with an occasional treat of some of the lovely ‘made in Europe’ varieties!
I love wool/yarn for my knitting. I am addicted to sock knitting and would love any patterns, books, yarns etc. I also knit for Premature Babies so DK and 4ply in soft pastel colours are wonderful as are mixed coloured wools that give a flecked impression! The fancy knitting needles available are fun and I use sets of 4/5 sock needles as well as measuring tapes, pins, needles, pin cushions, needle cases and thimbles all the time too.
We don’t have any pets as I have developed an allergy to pet fur. But I love funny and cute animals used for decorating things (just not elephants as I hate them) and am trying my hand at making knitted softies and amigurumi.
I have done most crafts at some time in my life: a wee bit of cross stitch, lots of needlepoint which I still love, patchwork, quilting, miniatures, crochet and knitting (I think I have knitted everything in my day!?) I like small handmade ornaments or toys that I can store in pretty basket. I don’t really collect anything as too much clutter gets on my nerves. I do like fat quarters of interesting/fun/novelty fabrics.
I will always do my best to send something my swap partner likes and I am sure if you send me something you like and have put an effort into making or choosing then I will like it too.
My computer skills are still limited and I rely on my daughter to give me a hand when things get technical. But otherwise I love the net for shopping and swapping and it is so convenient for finding information, patterns and recipes!
I will always try to rate my swaps fairly and I hope my partners will too!
Celtic Tenors, Rod Stewart, Crystal Gayle, Tom Jones, Simon and Garfunkle.
How To Make An American Quilt, Murphy's Romance, The American President, Gigi, South Pacific.
Keeping Up Appearances, The West Wing, oldies like LA Law and Dallas. I once loved police dramas like Inspector Morse, Frost, Midsummer Murders and Dalziel and Pascoe but now I prefer reading the books. I don't watch much TV these days too busy crafting!
Needlepoint both designer kits and counted and/or freestyle work. Knitting and Crochet. Everything to do with fabric:dressmaking, quilting, patchwork and appliqué. I like greens, blues and deep pinks, reds and purples best! Love hats, bags, shoes, jewellery and all other accessories!
I do a lot of charity work. Mainly making items for fundraising for my local hospice. I also knit clothing for premature babies, knit socks for my daughter and together we are setting up a charity knitted and crocheted blanket project. We both enjoyed swap-bot in the past and would like try organising but I especially need to get swapping so that my ratings become less sparse! :)
