About Me

I am off doing other things for the moment, hence my inactivity. However I will check in when I can and will get back to swapping soon. Take care, all, and have fun swapping!

I am retired and enjoying the time to do the things I want to do, including travelling, reading, cooking, crafting and catching up with friends. Drinking coffee is fairly high on my list, too! I share a house with a friend, a cat (Coco) and a dog, Meg, so things are fairly busy and lots of fun around here :)

Favorite Music

Probably the only kinds of music that don't really rate with me are heavy metal and of all things, country music. Not sure why! I went to a Lee Kernigan concert once and that was the end of me, never again! Maybe just a song here and there . . .

Favorite Books

Love books and spend far too much time reading! Crime, fantasy and Regency romance (starting with Jane Austen) are favourite genres, but I will just about read anything if it takes my fancy or someone has recommended it. Scandinavian crime writers are a current hit!

Favorite Movies

Favourite movies are period pieces and ones with stories that attract my interest, such as 'Saving Mr Banks' about PL Travers is one example, but there are plenty of others! I also like going to Star Wars movies, loved the Harry Potter series and thought Avatar was pretty special.

I don't watch horror movies at all and will not go to a cinema to see a thriller, mainly because I screamed out loud once and scared people in the three rows around me! Thrillers are now for home viewing!

Favorite Television

I love watching TV and enjoy things like Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, The Connors, Murdoch Mysteries and Vera (the books for both of these series were also excellent) and home shows such as Better Homes and Gardens and The Living Room.

Some of the reno shows are also fun: Good Bones, The Masters of Flip and Home Town to name a few. Not all of them appeal though! Others include Hughsey, We Have a Problem and Have You Been Paying Attention?

Favorite Crafts

Card making is a favourite craft, particularly making Christmas cards. I just love all the bits and pieces you can buy and have quite a bit of stash that just relates to the silly season!

This year I also plan to make birthday cards, something I have never really done and probably should do - to use up some more of that stash! I have made ATCs in the past and occasionally completed the odd scrapbook page, which is something else I need to get into more as there is a trip from 15 years ago waiting to be finished in scrapbook form. It's now done, so I could do those trips to Singapore and New Zealand, as well as the most recent trip that took in Iceland, Greenland and Scotland!

Cross stitching is another interest, along with beading.

Cats, of course!

The dog I share the house with - Meg's not mine, but she is gorgeous!

Buttons: they were a bit of a feature on the Christmas cards I made last year. Fun and a bit different!

Most colours, just not pink. Lime green is a favourite, not that I wear it. Like yellow, it is a very happy colour!

My footy team's colours are red, blue and yellow and they are the Adelaide Crows, playing Australian Rules football. If this helps with anything!

Stickers of cats are always welcome (who knew there were so many?), along with Christmas stickers. Other favourites are ones that say things like 'Happy Mail', etc, that I can then use to decorate envelopes I send out. I like most things, I suppose, apart from teacher, scratch 'n' sniff and religious ones.

I am also a member of Postcrossing and have been for (currently) about 200-odd cards! I enjoy getting cards from around the world, seeing the sights I have yet to see and even ones I already have! I love it that people share bits of their lives and that there is such a diversity of people on the site, from all walks of life. It is so very interesting!

Please avoid sending

Food items. I have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (and can't say I am thrilled about it, either!)

Flavoured teas or coffee. I am boring and just drink my preferred brand of black tea.

As for coffee, I tend to go to a fabulous coffee shop less than 5 minutes walk away for a daily cappuccino. I only have the one, just every day!

Favourite Postcards

Cats (domestic) would be the all time favourite, followed closely by those of dogs! Just love my animals!

Another favourite are postcards that feature nature rather than man-made structures.

Other than that, I like seeing where other people live or a place of interest to them.

Comment: Hi Tracy! What wonderful Happy Mail you sent! Not only your reading list but the lovely card with the awesome cat and the pcs - love everything and wish I could give more than one heart! I read/listen to a bunch of crime books as well - you are right, they are easy reading while still being enjoyable! I have to say I do miss Book Club though because it did stretch my reading genres - maybe someday! Sigh! Wishing you all the best! Hugs, Happy Reading, and Swapping! ;)
Response: Thankyou! I am glad the mail brightened your day. I have been spending too much tie reading of late, but I love it! New-to-me author: Kate Ellis. I am currently wading my way through her list and enjoying every minute! All the best, Tracy.

Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcard! I’m impressed you’re a cross-stitcher! I am not detailed enough to make those! I have been sewing a lot too! Stay healthy!
Response: Yes, there will be a lot of stitching around my house come Christmas! I think any form of sewing is therapeutic, especially if you can do it listening to the radio or music. Enjoy your sewing! Tracy

Comment: Hi Tracy. Your letter arrived today after a long and I'm sure perilous journey! Thanks! Great letter and I love your homemade card. Hope you are doing well. Stay strong. Stay safe.
Response: Good to hear the mail arrived! It does seem to take a while! Staying home, staying well and have just heard on the news that some restrictions are about to be lifted - yay! All the best to you and I hope things are going well for you and yours. Tracy
Comment: Thanks so much for interesting article and card you sent. Happy days!
Response: I am glad you found it interesting! At the time I sent it, it was hard to find something that wasn't virus related. Now even the content of the 'letters to the editor' have returned to a resemblance of normal! Hope all is well with you and yours in your part of the world. Take care, Tracy.

Comment: You didn't answer my message from April 30th. But see you read it. But letting you know, no need to re send anyway. As the PC came today. What the heck though! I see you sent it March 27th. Where the heck was it all this time?! Geesh! Thank you for the lovely mountain view PC. I hope you have been well & keeping safe.
Response: Sorry about the message, I must have been off with the fairies that day! I am pleased it arrived, our PO workers have been advising people that mail is very slow! That said, my mother got her Mother's Day card a week early! All well and safe here, hope you are too. Glad the PC brightened your day! :) All the best, Tracy.
Comment: I just got this today—May 4th! Thank you for a postcard and the fun message. I grew up with horses, on a farm, but never liked them. I wanted to live in a big city! The grass is always greener...;)
Response: And I always wanted to be a farmer's wife! No luck there! Funny how it works out. Hope all is well with you, all the best, Tracy.
