Have been taking a Swap break, with two graduating kids and their bdays this year, plus my taxes being a shock, I'm too broke to swap. :O( My mailbox has been so lonely, but hopefully by Xmas-time it'll improve. Waaaah! (Updated April 201)3
I live in a dinky place, don't drive, am a recluse in real life but can be charming online, have been known to be crotchety. ;O) Have been officially vintage for a year or two. I have 2 sets of almost grown twins, over the legal limit of cats, and one defenseless husband.
Christmas card swap preferences - please no religious cards, if possible! I respect my religious partners by sending religious cards to them, so I'd be so grateful if you respected mine by not sending them to me! I adore spiritual people with open minds. :O)
Random Stuff You Didn't Know You Wanted To Know:
Love thrifted, kitschy, retro, vintage, mid mod, flea market, creepy, snowflakey, Day of the Dead, Victorian Gothic, Halloweeny, sparkly & fierce, possibly in that general order. Christmas - it's the old fashioned traditions, memories, family, lights and colors of the holiday I love, no religious overtone, but I still love steepled glittery churches.
I dig pinups, vintage greeting cards, Somerset style, shabby, rusty, well loved, and uniquely original handmade stuff.
You know all that crap you probably watched your mom haul to the curb after cleaning out grandma's attic and taking the silver and valuables? I love that stuff.
I have big ol' wrists and wear 8" bracelets and loooong necklaces. Not into earrings.
I apologize beforehand if I tend to repeat myself throughout this profile, I just want to be sure you're paying attention, and if you're not it won't matter as I have reiterated so many times it's drilled into your brain now. :O)
I'd always prefer something thrifted or vintage than something new, go figure.
I love to receive 'stuff', especially buttons, embellishments, ephemera, etc.; in the colors TURQUOISE & AQUA, robin's egg blue, shades of pink, peppermint striped, minty or lime green, teal and cream, red and pink together, I adore shabby and distressed.
If you remember nothing else, remember I love VINTAGE, HALLOWEEN, CHRISTMAS, ICE SKATING, SNOWFLAKES, BUTTONS, GLITTERED anything, THRIFTED, and sparkly papers, postcards, vintage & retro playing cards and greeting cards and tallies...(just one is fine!)
CHOCOLATE!!! I don't care for hard candy.
I am a Weirlandian. Send me anything Johnny Weir and you automatically get a heart. Make me a postcard! Anything! :O)
POSTCARDS!!
I DO NOT CARE FOR TOURIST POSTCARDS unless the swap calls for them or they are specifically to my taste or fave theme, or vintage.
Oops, I repeated myself? If I'm ever your partner and I accidentally send you a PC I've sent you before, let me know and I'll send something different! :O)
I've collected PCs my entire life and I believe the randomness of posties is part of their charm, but I've also developed a fondness for some more than others. Duh, don't we all! I recently received a card from a partner in Germany with a vintage restaurant with my maiden name on it, serendipity is sweet!
I LOOOOVVES me some vintage postcards. Any theme is better in vintage. If you're my partner in a swap you can ALWAYS send me a vintage card, even if the swap says NO. I also dig vintage PCs that have been Used (written on by someone long ago).
I don't like touristy cards, not into maps and multi-views, but a beautiful picture is always nice. Prefer them to be funny or unique, altho a touristy card involving any of my fave themes is always awesome (like snow scenes or autumn leaves or vintage).
Please fellow CO swappers, if you have anything other than CO cards I'd be grateful.
I'm also not crazy about homemade cards, unless they're incredible.
I love retro cards, odd/quirky, funny ad cards, creepy stuff, graves, skulls, skeletons, ICE SKATING, old (or new) celebrities, media or pop culture (meaning music, movies, tv, advertising, etc.), Eiffel Tower, cats (especially black or humorous cats), vintage Hawaiian and vintage or retro beaches/beach scenes/beach babes, and giant or humorous fish cards, cards with just a touch of red, ladies in red, winter/snow/ski scenes and autumn leaves (I don't mind touristy if there are autumn leaves or snow!), swimming pools and 60's kitsch. If you make me a Johnny Weir card (American figure skater, Olympian), I guarantee a heart! blush I actually love about 99% of the cards I receive so don't panic. Apparently I have a long wish list. :O)
POMEGRANATE _not such a big deal.. I think I have every Pomegranate package deal postcard that there is, and doubles of some. I'll send those along to someone else if I get them, but if I have my 'druthers I'd rather not get too many!
I DO consider Etsy, ebay, cafe press, Zazzle and the like storebought quality.
Reading:
King, Koontz, Terry Pratchett rules my heart, Dave Barry, Garrison Keillor, Christopher Moore rocks. I don't read as voraciously as I used to due to malfunctioning stoopid eyeballs. :O( I love vintage books.
I am a lover of the PRINTED WORD. REAL BOOKS RULE!
Music:
The Samples, best band you've never heard of.
Idiot Box:
SUPERNATURAL!! GLEE!! BE GOOD JOHNNY WEIR!! ONCE UPON A TIME!! Ru Paul, Antiques Roadshow, Being Human (BBC version), Top Chef, I Love Lucy, Dexter, Torchwood, Runway, Survivor, American Pickers & the like, Fantasy Island, Six Feet Under, Outer Limits, Tales From the Crypt, Dick Van Dyke, Bob Newhart, Carol Burnett, Andy Griffith, Tales From the Dark Side...very excited to find the Doris Day Show on netflix!
NO REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ANYWHERE!!!

Big Screen:
Movies: I like 'em. All of them as long as they DON'T include Chuck Norris, Sly Stallone, or Steven Seagal.
I love horror (not gore), and old black & white films TCM!.. Danny Kaye, Robert Downey Jr., Doris Day, Cary Grant, Tony Curtis, Bing, Robert Montgomery, Van Johnson. I don't do movies with animals in them, they will inevitably make me cry.
Crafty Coolness:
Vintage!!! Altered anything, mixed media collage, chunky books, assemblage, shrines, shadowboxes, Button THINGS, itty bittie collaged books, tag books, mixed media /altered jewelry, anything made with buttons or vintage jewelry bits.
Eclectic complicated thought provoking unique original NON-cookie cutter or greeting card cricut/cuttlebug type Art...
I also love to receive... *unique or spooky dolls (any medium, cute or scary or both for preference), address lables, beaded charms & jewelry makings for halloweeny/DOD/Victorian mourning bracelets.
ATCS & other mixed media preferences: I don't like abstracts and 'modern art'...not too fond of digitals unless they're extraordinarily unique or humorous or kitchy... LOOOVE: ATCs, Art & collages with the themes of DEAN WINCHESTER or Supernatural, Johnny Weir, Doris Day, Robert Downey Jr., Danny Kaye, Tony Curtis, White Christmas (the movie), I Love Lucy, vintage Halloween, creepy dolls, Day of the Dead, sugar skulls, Vintage halloween ATCS, Vintage sparkly Xmas ATCs, Witch/witches/witchiness ATCs
Nothing modern religious, bless your heart, but I do love retro, vintage, kitschy religious stuff.
My space is soooo teeeeeny. But I DO love my CRAFTY CRAP!!

I love my thrifting! I am always on the lookout for anything awesome and kitschy. To please me in a thrift swap, everything mentioned anywhere above is a favorite! I prefer not to see dollar store stuff in thrift swaps though. Unique or vintage is the way to go! Made in Japan is a good sign I will love it also. :OD
...things I don't like much: Dollar store candy, FOAM CRAFTS are BAD, preachy scripture/religious stuff, ANGELS (other than kitschy catholic stuff covered above), zombies (except on PCs), tea and coffee, people who don't at least leave a HOWDY in their swap package, recipes and recipe cards, eyelets (I don't use 'em), bookmarks, alcohol-referenced stuff, BUTTERFLIES, Asian themed, Barbie, Disney, sports, cuttlebug/cricut craft punches, abstract modern type 'art' postcards...
I also am suspicious of swappers who say "I don't ever read profiles because it stifles creativity" - it also stifles the level of enjoyment your swap partner experiences! Remember my aversion to dumbassery!
I LOVE swappers with Flickr pages, swap hosts who check their spelling, and all the supercool peeps who live outside the box, and cake.
I won't let anything go to waste, I'm a recycler, re-user of packaging and regifter.

Hey! Just stopping by to say hi and see how things are in your world :)
I just wanted to post another thank you for the random envie and the note you sent with it. :) I love the postcards and will probably be framing 'em to hang. As for horror movies, the only ones that I can get to really get to me are by Japanese directors. If you can find it (it may still be on Netflix), check out an episode of Masters of Horror called 'Imprint'. It was directed by Takashi Miike. :)
