Hello!

My name is Lea. I'm a graphic designer. I live outside of Washington D.C.; being able to take the metro in to visit museums and galleries is wonderful. Thanks to my mom I've been crafting since before I could hold a pair of scissors! I’m always looking for a new technique or material to try. The main craft forms I rotate through are beading/jewelry making, crocheting and papercrafting (scrapbooking, card making, letterpressing, book making). Reading is my other obsession, particularly historical fiction and science fiction. Books in all forms catch my attention, from miniature and oversized to historical. My latest creative adventures have been in baking and cake decorating.

I love handcrafted items made with care and attention.

. lettering by hand and computer (greetings, personalized items, etc.)

. scrapbooking (I like to make my own accent elements)

. card making (letterpressed, collaged, painted...)

. small sewing projects

. creating anything miniature (books, food, furniture...)

. making tassels (I just adore tassels... all the thread and beads!)

. making ATCs, postcards, inchies, rinches, twinchies...

I admit to being a pack rat...

. scraps of papers (fancy or just cool colors or typography, I even save envelopes if they have a pattern printed on the inside)

. wrappers and packaging in other languages or from unusual places

. broken bits and pieces which I incorporate into jewelry or other objects (my latest works have used broken shells I collected this summer)

. beads and buttons in all shapes and sizes

. ribbon of all sizes, patterns, and ages

. DMC floss... any color, you never know what a project might need!

. used postage stamps: any type, from everywhere

. decks of playing cards specific to different places (my dad started this when I was little, bringing me a deck every time he went TDY somewhere)

. miniature tea sets
