Let's have fun!
By day, I'm a horticulturist, so as you might imagine anything related to plants, flowers, vegetables, trees or nature are of interest to me.
Special Note: Please contact me if too much time passes after a deadline and you haven't received my swap. I take pride in what I send and would want the chance to make it right.
When all is said and done, these are the types of crafts I return to over and over:
*repurposing/upcycling existing items (I stash trinkets, papers, and ribbons away that I can remake into something else. General s-crap)
I seem to gravitate to crafts done in minutia. For example, teeny tiny knitting
A recent focus of mine is metalsmithing. This is a craft I've done before, but put on hold because I don't own all the tools necessary, mainly a blow torch for soldering. I have my mom's old kiln set up and need to make time to experiment more with enameling.
Time Period Dramas (Examples: Bomb Girls, Call the Midwife, Miss Fischer's Murder Mysteries)
I also watch a lot of documentaries. My most recent "pick" was Chasing Coral on Netflix. I was floored by the by never-before-seen, time lapse footage of coral reef bleaching.
*1920s style/Art Deco motifs
*mathematics themes (such as fractals & golden ratio)
*animals, all sorts: hedgehogs, bugs, reptiles, cats/kittens
*nature theme (particularly in the style of Gwen Frostic or Japanese)
*natural wood, stone, beach glass, outerspace/stars/planets
*ancient Egyptian-style art/motif
*retro games (Mr. Do!, Centipede, Tetris, Dr. Mario)
*modern games (Pokemon, Sims, Prof. Layton, Mario, Tekken Tag) Also,Togepi is one of my all-time favorite pokemon. Other favs include: Unknown and Magikarp - so useless!
*nautical theme (anchors and such)
*matryoshka dolls (aka Russian nesting dolls)
*Pokemon, Yotsuba!, Keroro Gunsou, Tamagotchi, Gundam, Squid Girl, Princess Jellyfish, Studio Ghibli
I've always been an avid reader and lover of books. I participate in a website for swapping used books, Paperbackswap . My nickname is Tamawi if you want to add me as your friend.
I participate in a social knitting group, which meets at our local coffee/wine bar. We have a good time talking about this-n-that while we knit.
What's on my needles currently?
I'm now working on a small blanket that is Prairie-style (Frank Lloyd Wright type stained glass pattern).
Are you a Raveler? Then you can find me on Ravelry. My user name is Tamawi.
*used cards, to cut out words and pictures
*writing with fountain pens
*tea (I love herbal, red, green, and black)
*stickers (to use on envelopes or in scrapbooking)
*50s or atomic era style (think sputnik)
*I like when postcards are mailed to me without being inside an envelope. (of course unless it's necessary for the swap, such as Pass-N-Paste cards)
