I'm the mama of 6 goofball kiddos, ages 12 to 22. I spend a lot of my day driving them to and fro, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and general problem-solving! I still homeschool the youngest (the older ones graduated from my school and moved on to traditional high school and college) and I try to squeeze in a little time for crafting in between the flurry of activity. I'd rather craft and blog than clean, that's for sure!
FOR THE 12 MONTHS CHRISTMAS BLOCK swap: I'm hoping to really put this together into a large quilt, so I would love it if the blocks had a similar color scheme. I love brights! True red, pink, apple green, kelly green, true white, and any other brights that might fit with your pattern. When I say bright, I don't mean neon ;) just true, clear unmuted colors. Take a look at my flickr account to see some of my work. I don't have any of my quilts up yet, but I think the other items might give you a taste of what I like!
I like all kinds of music! My current faves are Glen Hansard, Jason Mraz, the Fray, and Coldplay. I still like the oldies too--James Taylor and the Eagles!
I love to read, read, read! In my former life (before kids) I taught high school English and I still read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. It would be easier to tell you what I don't like: trashy romance novels and poorly written religious fiction. I'm a sucker for history and historical fiction.
Love Actually, Once, Pride and Prejudice (the Keira Knightly version), Last of the Mohicans, About a Boy
I don't actually get to watch much tv. Remember I have 6 kids, 4 of whom are boys! Consequently, we watch A LOT of sporting events. (Well, they watch and I wander off to do something else.) I know way more about all sports than is really necessary. American football is the current passion for the family, with Green Bay Packers being the favorite team!
I have dabbled in many crafts over the years, but enjoy sewing and quilting the most. (Stop laughing, Mom.) I also like to make cards and envelopes and have quite a stash of paper, stickers, embellishments, stamps, ink, etc. I haven't caught the ATC bug yet....
Lately I've been working on learning to crochet. Not good enough to share with others, but I'll keep practicing ;)
I have so many favorite colors! I guess I should say my favorite colors are actually color combinations. I love all shades of brown and green--the whole nature thing! I also love bright, happy color combos, especially if the colors are clear and unmuddied without too much gray. (Remember dusty rose, mauve, and dusty blue? Don't like those!) Right now I'm loving turquoise and orange.
Coffee, not tea
panda bears
fat quarters--100% cotton, love bright and bold colors!
Japanese fabric
Japanese craft magazines, books
vintage Disney (I used to work there, back in vintage days, okay the 80's, that's vintage to some of you!)
vintage buttons
vintage postcards
40's era kitchenware
Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, and Kaffe Fassett
I love felt stuffies and amigurumis! Someday I'm going to teach myself how to crochet so I can make my own amis, but for now I'll just keep drooling over at flickr and etsy.
I don't like tea. (yuck)
I'm super sensitive to smells. It's not that I don't like scented stuff, but it makes me sneeze. (My kids make fun of me all of the time about this.) So I prefer unscented stuff.
If you live in Wisconsin or anywhere near...my 14 year old is looking for some particular Green Bay Packer cards to complete his 2008 set. He would absolutely flip if you could track down any one of these cards: Daryn Colledge, Scott Wells, Korey Hall, or Brady Poppinga. He has also started a Jordy Nelson collection, sooo...there ya go!
But please don't feel like you have to buy football cards for my kid! This is strictly a wish list (the things I keep my eyes peeled for when I'm out and about). I figure someday I'm gonna run across some random mom who's football-fan kid has outgrown his cards...is it you? :o)

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I mailed off your "Letter in a Handmade Envelope #2" swap this afternoon. Hopefully, it will get to you soon. :)
Hi! Thanks for joining my Vintage/thrifted Sheets as Fabric swap, and I hope you had fun with it! If you're interested in more, I just started up Round 3!
Awesome Lori, Thanks so much for both of the kitty fabrics that you sent me from the NFS YGFM #3. I have neither of them! How in the world did you fold the one FQ, I took it apart gently, but couldn't figure it out? I love the kitty notecard, thanks to you and whomever made it. And how in the world do you think I would forget you? I see you have been a very busy swapper! PS. I am following you on Twitter, also. Hugs, Glenna
