Happy 2012 to all of my swap-bot friends!! Sorry that I haven't been around for the past few months; I have been dealing with some health issues. Doing okay, just don't have a lot of extra time or energy these days for much. So I have backed off on most of my extra-curriculars, including swap-bot. Hoping to get back in a few months, tho.
So, here’s a bit about me....
Been on swap-bot since August 2008 and it's definitely much better than therapy. I've met so many new people with similar interests, and enjoyed trying new things outside my "craft comfort zone". I am continually amazed by the talented people I receive swaps from. And grateful for the friends I have met through this group.
Married for 38 years to a great guy who doesn’t “get” why I love crafts, but puts up with it anyway. Four grown (pretty much, anyway) children, and an 11 yr old golden retriever named Sandy. No grandkiddos, just grandpuppies.
I am very family oriented, and spend alot of my spare time doing things with and for them.
I chair the Service/Friendship committee for our local quilt guild. We meet monthly at a local church to make quilts for local charities and also to make up quilt kits from donated fabric for our members to use to make service quilts. One of my favorite patterns is the Heart String Quilt block, because it is so versatile and so much fun. I am the swap coordinator for the Heart String Quilt Block monthly swaps here on swap-bot, and hope that you will join in.
We live in the suburbs north of Chicago. I've lived in the area all my life, and altho it sounds crazy, I love having all four seasons. My favorite time of year is late fall through the holidays. Once it gets cool, I love to cook – comfort foods like easy breads, homemade muffins and homemade soups.
I am very traditional in taste. I am a CPA by education (have to pay the bills), and a Mom and crafter because I want to be.
Just about anything Mary Engelbreit makes me happy.
And I believe in guardian angels.
I have ALWAYS loved anything sewing related, and my current passions are quilting, paper piecing, craft sewing and machine embroidery (which I am just learning). I’ll admit it - I do LOVE fabric – especially 100% cottons for quilting. My husband thinks I have way too much fabric, but that can’t be true because there is still space in my sewing room. Okay, so now that I look at it, I have enough projects to keep me busy for a long, long time!!! (o:
ALL ABOUT FABRICS: MY FAVORITES (100% cotton quilt shop quality, please) I love cool colors, pinks, and cheery pastel yellows. I also love 1930s reproductions, Batiks, and most fabrics by RJR, Kaufman and Moda.
FABRICS I REALLY DON’T CARE FOR: Kaffe Fassett, large scale prints, oranges/golds/browns, black & whites.
CRAFTS THAT I DON’T HAVE ANY INTEREST IN: Scrapbooking, Stickers, ATCs
Definitely, chick flicks – Pretty Woman, Ghost, Sweet Home Alabama, Coyote Ugly, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Pride and Prejudice, Legally Blonde.
Don’t watch much, but…HGTV, Hallmark Channel movies, quilt shows and sometimes Oprah. Love my TIVO!
This will be my year to finish up projects that I have started...(see procrastination in the dictionary for a more detailed description)!!
I take this seriously - I do not flake, and I try to send out my swaps ahead of the deadline. However, life happens. If there's a problem, I will try to be in contact with my partner as soon as I see that I have one. I try to rate others as soon as I receive a swap, and I try to make every swap I send out equal to one that I would love to receive. If there is a problem, or if by chance I have forgotten to rate you, please let me know. I assure you it was unintentional.
