i am a 3rd generation southern californian:) i was born here, met and married my wonderful husband/best friend 37 years ago here, and have raised 2 amazing daughters here (and my youngest met her devoted husband here!!...)...in the past couple of years we've had some additions to our family, a beautiful granddaughter, eiley, and our oldest met and married a wonderful young man...interestingly enough THAT was all on the east coast this past summer...but we won't hold it against them:)
this is eiley grace with her trusty pal buster...

and this is my oldest on her wedding day with her trusty pal drewster;)...

california has also been the adoption spot for our new rescue dog, 8 year old "sweet-pea" who is the cutest little thing i've ever seen, (her tongue doesn't fit in her mouth) we are very "over the moon" in love with her...

besides being the "place" where i live and love? southern california literally harbors some of my major creative inspirations...waves, blue/gray sky, crazy tourists...it's all good... i finally finished my B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in ABA (applied behavioral analysis)...i currently work as a behavior interventionist for autistic children, so my creativity can really get a workout... i LOVE what i do...many times i'll run into a child that will open up because of art, music or poetry and that's when i get VERY happy...as human creatures we all have an innate desire to connect...communication, through whatever means, is essential to our well-being...i feel extremely privileged to be a part of helping individuals learn how to "connect"... this also leads me into my latest creative endeavor, writing, blogging, exchanging ideas, and NOW swapping:)...so fun!

i've been an exercise instructor for the past 20 years with 24 hour fitness, so ANYTHING with a great rhythm gets me going... lyrics are huge, so on the flip side, ingrid michaelson, jason mraz, these are great choices... i'm also an avid movie composer buff...love playing "name that composer" to whatever movie... so my ipod has a lot of classical and musical scores... i just enjoy interesting rhythms and combinations and it's pretty rare that i don't find something great within the music...

TIME TRAVEL!! it all started with a little book called "wrinkle in time"... from there i met h.g. wells and landed in a time machine...sci-fi is really fun but it needs to envelope me... horror can be quite a diversion as well, especially when it's tinted with sarcasm and humor...huge fan of "frankenstein" and all things dean koontz, stephen king...i also enjoy children's books, original and unique illustrations and mediums are very intriguing to me as well as some twists and turns on old original's, fables and fairy tales however grimm they may be... ;) some particular fairy tale favorites? rapunzel and rumpelstilskin both have excellently flawed young women, but i enjoy those flaws and the lessons they learn:)...
to add a bit of a footnote here? i have discovered the wonderful world of KINDLE...now i can carry an unimaginable amount of reading material around all for the price of oh, let's see 2 ounces?? maybe my biceps won't get the workout they once got from "supporting" my reading habit...but hey, that's what the gym is for!!
this could be a lengthy list...but i could pare it down by just mentioning my creative inspiration...tim burton:)... color, whimsy, story-line!...
then there are the standards: buffy the vampire slayer (soooo cheezy) firefly goonies adventures in babysitting
most old black and whites, ultimate favorite? "enchanted cottage":) sigh

anything by j.j. abrams or joss whedon... sytycd, bones, cash cab, jeopardy, haven, chuck, warehouse 13, fringe, castle...the list goes far and wide as long as there's quick, witty writing and an intricate plot-line!
to quote the interesting little guy that actually hooked us up with our tivo (hence the icon above??)
"tivo changed my life" (true story...)

i go in spurts...felting weird creatures, fimo clay, (combining these two)... altered journals, knitting, crocheting, origami (new passion)... the underlying continuity is always some form of doodling...usually an odd creation that morphs somehow... i literally go into another world when i'm creating something, HUGE time warp...

i am greatly enjoying swap-bot and would love to continue to build "bot" relationships... that said? i would like to encourage you to PM me if you do not receive something from me...OR if you do not receive a rating from me (i'm on the computer a LOT so there are ample opportunities for me to rate)... i don't want to leave anyone standing and staring at an empty mailbox:( sooooo not fun...
i must admit, THIS is what i feel like when i get mail, and i really hope it's contAGIOUS!
