Want to make your own cool, swirly, one-of-a-kind background papers?

Here's what you will need:

scissors

tape

wax paper

unlined white paper

plastic fork

acryllic paints

water

Directions:

1 ~ Cut a piece of wax paper bigger than the size of the unlined papers you are using.

2 ~ Tape down the four corners to keep the paper from slipping.

3 ~ Take your paint, and using the colors you wish, squeeze out a dime-sized blob of each onto the wax paper.

4 ~ Add a few drops of water (not too much) to the paints, and mix it in, leaving each color as it is.

5 ~ Then, using the fork, "drag" the prongs through all of the colors to create swirly designs and patterns.

6 ~ Take a piece of the white paper and place it lightly, but firmly on top of the pattern. If you pull it up quickly and evenly enough, you should have a similar design to what you created on the wax paper.

7 ~ Allow it to dry and cut as needed for atc's, collages, etc.

Some other techniques you may want to try, are using coffee filters in place of paper, food-coloring in pace of paint, toothpicks in place of a fork, straws (for a "splatter" effect), and paintbrushes for creating flowers and other designs. Sponges also make unique patterns. I have also mixed in a bit of glitter glue to give it a bit of sparkle. The possibilities are endless, and you end up with something that nobody else can duplicate exactly. :)
