About Me

Hi, my name is Cindy and I am a middle aged woman (50-) living in the beautiful Netherlands. Living as a happy single, no kids. No pets anymore, I used to have tame rats as a pet. They ruined my sofa and clothes, so no more. I do voluntary work in an elderly home. I used to be a secretary but now on disability.

My hobbies:

art journaling, mixed media, making greeting cards, minizines (only originals!), gel plate printing and crafting in general. I have one penpal in Holland. I am addicted to YouTube. I also love reading books and walking (preferably in our lovely Wildlands Adventure Zoo).

My favorite YouTubers:

Kagedfish (glue books), Lets make a mess today, CreativelyFree2Bme, HomeBirdJen, Shemi Dixon, Maremi SmallArt, Tammy Brackett, The Rebookery, KissMyCreative, Diane H., LittleRavenInk.

Lately I am very highly interested in "Minimalism". I read books about it, watch youtube videos and listen to audiobooks. And of course, I am cleaning up my house in the meanwhile.

My favorite movies:

fantasy, drama, action movies. I really loved to see Avatar, the Matrix, Eragon, Hunger Games, Riddick.

My favorite themes:

I love the vintage romantic style, birds, forest animals (fox, deer, owl etc), butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, feathers, the black and white combo, but also lots of colour, craft color and turqoise blue. I like bird cages, keys, hot air balloons, zentangles, art, airmail, nature, dogs, cats, cute things, Paris, spiritual and chinese/japanese items, Snoopy. Furtherly I love bling bling and metallic. I also have a thing for fashion models and nice artistic photographs.

Brands I really like:

  • Papaya Art
  • Tim Holtz
  • 7 Gypsies
  • Gorjuss girls from Santoro Londen.

My favorite magazines are Flow, Happinez and Daphne's Diary. I am really excited to see your crafty endeavours.

I also like quirky things, strange things. I mean that you have to look twice.

What I would like to receive:

washitape samples, embellishments, die cuts, ephemera, doilies, photo negatives, inchies, twinchies, beautiful napkins for backgrounds (only top layer is fine), shaped paperclips, stickers (no childish, no foam stickers or puffy ones - only flat stickers), your painted papers, your altered art, anything for my junk journals, letter set to write my penpal, quotes, cut-outs from magazines. Flat items only please.

For backgrounds in my art journal I use bookpages and I have already several languages in my posession (some took years to find): I have dutch, english, french, german, italian, chinese, russian. If you are swapping with me and you have a very different language I would love to get some bookpages if you have it. I don't need to be able to read and understand it, I just like the look of other languages.

I am really turned off when things have a cigarette smell.

Spiders scare me.

Anything religious (except boedda's).

Wooden embellishments or other thick items.

Teabags (unless required in a swap I am joining).

Postcards (unless required in a swap I am joining).

Post-its (I really have so many, but hardly use them).

Mail out/in Netherlands:

I can send out mail from Monday till Friday. (So Saturday & Sunday mail goes out on Monday).

We receive mail on Tuesday till Saturday. (Sunday & Monday we get nothing.)

Comment: I have to have some painting done inside my home this summer, I hope the price is reasonable!

I went to chiropractor on Friday and it's a titch better but not a whole lot. Blah! It hurts to sit and I have a swap letter to get finished TODAY. Yikes! lol

ESG: Quick Friendly Profile Comment from FritosMom in Bethlehem, Georgia, USA. I don't know what your disability is but I strongly encourage to rescue and older dog-not puppy. They add so much to your life. I currently have 3 dogs and 4 cats. Since I retired I spend hours on YouTube-so educational. YouTube is a window to the world. Merry Christmas.

Hi Cindy,

Greetings from America! I’ve lived here all my life but my grandparents were born in the Netherlands in Groningen. I have yet to visit The Netherlands but it’s certainly on my bucket list.

I see you used to have pet rats. That’s cool, I always thought they looked like interesting creatures. I used to have guinea pigs and gerbils.

Have a nice day and Happy Holidays!

Song Lyrics #4:

Tool - Lateralus

Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come. //

I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me. Whatever will bewilder me.

And following our will and wind We may just go where no one's been. We'll ride the spiral to the end And may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going.

Some of the reminders I need most. Hope they can help you, too.

Song Lyrics #4 Electronic

Well I know they say all good things must come to some kind of ending We were so damn good I guess we never stood a chance Go on & find what you been missing and when the highway's tired of listening You'll see I'm not that easy to forget

Song Lyrics # 3

And I'll rise up, I'll rise like the day, I'll rise up, I'll rise unafraid, I'll rise up, and I'll do it a thousand times again, And I'll rise up, High like the waves, I'll rise up, in spite of the ache, I'll rise up, and I'll do it a thousand times again, For you.

Rise Up - Andra Day

Great powerful song to lift your spirits :D It's been helping me with my personal struggles, hope it can do the same for you!

Song Lyrics #3 Electronic

Kesha - Rainbow

I used to live in the darkness Dress in black, act so heartless But now I see that colors are everything Got kaleidoscopes in my hairdo Got back the stars in my eyes, too Yeah, now I see the magic inside of me

I really like the lyrics in this song. For me it means that she's coming from a bad place and finally sees the light in her life again.
