I am in Amsterdam until the 1st of September, so please forgive me for not rating or replying
I'm just a regular girl, I guess. Live in Leeds, born and bred. Strangely, I have only recently got into the crafts after finishing spending three years at Leeds College of Art and Design. Absence makes the heart fonder, I guess. But truthfully, I am really excited to be able to make things just because they are innately beautiful, rather than trying to justify or explain my motivations or concepts behind it like I had to do at college. It is liberating in a way.
I'm moving up to Glasgow in September to do an MA in Film and Television Studies. Which should be fun, if slightly terrifying. If you live in the area, hit me up. It's always nice to see a friendly face : )
My life at the moment revolves around cups of tea with friends, buying and watching old VHS videos that I buy for pennies from charity shops, watching Wimbledon whilst knitting and buying utterly pointless but beautiful knick-nacks from my local market.
If I haven't rated you just send me a quick message, I try my best to rate as and when I receive but sometimes (especially email ones) they get lost in the mix. It's not personal : )
If anybody is interested in doing any private swaps, just message me.
As I have dedicated the next four years of my life to it, you have probably deduced I like films. A lot. Here are some of my favourites. Matilda Drop Dead Fred Mulholland Drive Twin Peaks:Fire Walk With Me Eraserhead Lost Highway Pi Requiem For A Dream Office Space Mallrats Clerks/Clerks II Chasing Amy Dogma A Bout De Souffle Une Femme Est Une Femme Chungking Express In The Mood For Love Ferris Buellers Day Off Fatal Attraction Single White Female Labyrinth Breakfast at Tiffanys Sixteen Candles Breakfast Club Aguirre Wrath of God Trainspotting Shallow Grave Star Wars Trilogy Pretty In Pink American Graffiti Happy Together Three Colour Triology This Is Spinal Tap
Waking The Dead House Documentaries Big Brother Twin Peaks Green Wing The Office (UK) Black Books The Mighty Boosh Flight of the Conchords QI Never Mind The Buzzcocks Wimbledon Teachers Gavin and Stacey
I like all sorts. I know everyone says that, but I do. I have over twelve thousand songs in my iTunes, ranging from undisputed classics, to the downright embarrassing guilty pleasures.
Here is a list of bands that I am not ashamed to declare: Neutral Milk Hotel Joanna Newsom No Doubt Imogen Heap Booker T and the MGs The Doors Nada Surf The Pixies All Time Quarterback Elliott Smith 80's Cheese 90's Classics Northern Soul Motown Placebo Muse Queens of the Stoneage Animal Collective Air Feist Amanda Palmer The Dresden Dolls Bob Dylan Architecture in Helsinki Bat For Lashes Bedouin Soundclash Belle and Sebastian Stiff Little Fingers Old School Punk Billy Bragg Weezer
and of course, film soundtracks.
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY I'd much rather have a small number of items I love, than a load that sit collecting dust in my mums attic or end up throwing or giving away. It's nice to have extras, but if it means the quality of the original swap suffers, then don't bother.
Films and Music Memorabilia See above. I have both DVD and VHS players, and don't mind copies.
Things From Other Countries Stamps, money, packaging, leaflets, books. There is nothing I love more than to wake up the morning, walk down stairs and find a pretty package covered in lots of foreign stamps. The idea that we can send things half the way around the world still kind of amazes me. I like things written in other languages too. When I am on holiday, the first place I head is the local supermarket to gawp at all the strange packaging.
Letters/Notes Preferably handwritten. I don't care if you don't think I'll be able to read your handwriting. That's the best bit. You can tell a lot about somebody from their handwriting.
Purple It's my colour. If it's purple, I am pretty much guaranteed to love it. Bright, violetty purples, not wimpy pastel purples, though.
Things To Do With Tea or Baking I am old before my time. I love nothing more than to settle down with a good cuppa char and a homemade scone.
Matchbooks/Cigarette Cards/Smoking Tins/Lighters You don't see many nowadays.
Photographs Of people, places, anything really. It doesn't matter if you don't think it's relevant to anyone but yourself. As long as it's well taken, I will adore it. I love seeing little insights into other peoples lives. It really makes my day.
Your Art I like to surround myself in beautiful things, yours could be one of them.
Mix Tapes/CDs Make me a mix cd, and you'll make my day. Make me a mix tape, and you'll make my year.
Stationary/Blank Journals I love stationary. There is something about the potential of a brand new journal/postcard/pen/stamp/whatever that just excites me to my inner core. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop at Staples, honestly.
Patterns Polka Dots. Checks. Plaids. Stripes. Gingham. Floral. They make me feel happy inside.
The Eighties I am a child of the eighties (just) and adore the fashion. Patterned leggings, chunky plastic jewelry, bad hair. All of it.
Crockery As long as it's pretty. When I live by myself I plan to have a collection of beautiful patterned dishes, no two alike. Might take a while...
Knitting/Sewing/Craft/Buttons/Badges/Fastenings Anything that is beautiful, or would help to make something beautiful. I'm a skint student, so anything is gratefully appreciated.
Maps/Numbers A complete mystery to me, and probably why I find them so enchanting.
Dead Old Things I like old things. The tattier the better.
Pants/Knickers A girl can never have too many pants.
Bags A girl can never have too many bags.
Random Things Old keys, toy cars, fake moustaches, novelty sunglasses, creepy dolls (pretty much anything really)
Kid's Stuff I'm not really a fan of cartoons characters, and wouldn't particularly like anything to do with them. I never really liked cartoons when I was a kid, and it's not going to change now. I think they are a bit tacky, but hey each to their own. I'm not a fan of culty books either eg Harry Potter, Twilight.
I don't mind the Graphic Novels, Illustrations zines and some of the cute Japanese stuff though. I'm just talking about Finding Nemo Stickers and suchlike.
Stickers I just don't see the point.
Chocolate Not that I don't like chocolate. I invest a lot of time and effort into avoiding it, as I have appalling willpower. I don't think I will be able to resist it if it lands on my doorstep. I mean, I would be obliged to eat it. Maybe one or two wouldn't hurt...
Cheap Metal Jewellry It gives me a rash. Not pretty. Best keep to plastic or wood. If you are sending earrings, I can only wear gold/silver or surgical steel, or else my piercings get really infected and swollen (so much so that I once had to go to the doctor because my lobe had swollen so much it had enveloped the stud, making it impossible to take out. Yuk!)
Glitter It gets everywhere
Religious Stuff (unless gloriously tacky) I am not religious, nor do I want to be religious. End of.
Things containing cows milk or gluten I have just found out I am intolerant to them, and am trying to avoid them as much as possible.
Biros I love really cute pens, but unfortunately I can't use biros. I have really heavy handed writing, so if I use a biro I either cut through the paper or ruin about ten pages beneath it with indentations. Plus I always end up smudging it somehow.
Make-Up I don't wear cheap make-up. I don't wear much, just mascara, foundation and eyeliner (on special occasions) but what I do wear I make sure is very good quality as I have very sensitive skin. Eye shadow makes my eye lids swell up so much the following morning I can barely open them, so that's a complete no no. I hate the way cheap lipgloss makes my lips all sticky, so I tend to stick with lip tint and lip balms. By all means if you want to send me something from Benefit/Urban Decay/MAC, far be it from me to deny you. But at £12.50 for an eyeliner, I don't see that happening any time soon.

I got my bathbombs today, thank you!
I am so glad you liked the family recipes I sent you. It was a lot of fun gathering those recipes from our family members and friends, you definitely should put one together for your family!
Hi! Welcome to my new group, Zombies, Aliens, Vampires, Monsters and Robots! And any other creepy cuteness you can think of :) Take a look at our first swap (sign-up deadline 26 Aug) and get stuck in! x
I received the fabric for the "what I have to offer" tag. Thank you so much! I love them all, and will definitely be able to make use of them in my crafts.
Thankyou so much for the fabric button kit for BB tag. I love the blue fabrics especially, they are very ME. Can't wait to have a go!
Oh, and thank you. These are my first ATCs ever. It's nit that hard to make them. Just try it.
I decided to drop from the swap, too. I just got the answer for the swap amaount today and in this price range I could only buy maybe three pencils from Euro Shops. I would then spent lots more and would be extremly disappointed to get some cheap stuff. I'm not that kind of complicated with inexpensive things, but I think you know what I mean. I would be very happy to do a private swap with you.
Your profile is great, even your movie taste is almost exactly the same as mine. I hope you will join the pencil case swap, I have so many ideas yet just by reading your profile. And the chance that you are my swap partner will be at 25% now.
Mia
Thanks for the great "Guilty Pleasures" :)
