About Me

My name is Arcadia and I'm from Wichita Kansas which is in the United States and very famous for The Wizard of Oz. I am a stylist and I like that. Mostly.

I'm very interested in things of a strange nature. For instance, Tarot cards and taxidermy. I used to be engaged to a guy who's family sells foam weapons at the Renaissance Faire (barbarian battles) and now, I'm in love with a guy who lets me wear his pajama pants and knows how to play keyboards.

I think someday I would like to be able to sing properly in front of people without being ridiculously drunk on karaoke night. I would also like to learn how to organize properly. Something tells me that putting the granola bars behind the cereal boxes isn't really proper...

I've always wanted to be taller and Japanese. I just learned how to crochet and, I'm doing a dang good job of it!

I think that the best boy name for a cat would be Dr. Maximus.

No Music Please!

I'm into one type of music and, it's the kind I like. I'm used to people judging me on what kind of music I like so I'm not going to list anything.

NOTE!!! I SMOKE AND HAVE CATS!

Favorite Books

The best book I ever read was 'Off The Map' which was about two ladies who went backpacking off in Europe. I never been out of the US so, reading their adventure was probably the closest I'll ever get. However! 'Lonely Planet Guide to Experimental Travel' really helped that feeling.

I also like Alice Hoffman, Ayn Rand, Anne Rice, Thomas Pynchon, Clive Barker, Garth Nix, Neil Gaiman, J. K. Rowling and Mercedes Lackey's older work. Creepy children's books are kind of a love affair. Especially Coraline, Wolves in the Walls, The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy, Shel Silverstein's work, and Where the Wild Things Are.

I think Sandman was the greatest Comic book series ever.

Favorite Movies

This is where I set the record straight! If up until this point you thought I was of the 'goth' persuasion you were wrong! I hate horror movies! And this decidedly makes me very ungoth. Yes, ungoth.

I do love kids movies but, none of the actual 'toys' and things having to do with them. The Last Unicorn, Little Nemo Adventures in Slumber Land, and The Dark Crystal are my absolute favorites.

Favorite Television

Pushing Daisies is probably the most adorable show I've ever seen in my entire life. I hope that one day I too will be able to only wear 50's dresses. Anything by Joss Whedon or Bryan Fuller I will watch endlessly. I am especially looking for any Niagara Falls souvenirs that will talk to me.

I also really dig The Elegant Universe series that has been on PBS' Nova. Actually, I love Nova in general. I dig learning alot.

How Missus!

I do lots and lots and loads of crafts. If you're looking for some kind of 'extra' to send me, send me something on a really odd craft, or something for bookbinding. I love the coptic stitch but, am terrible at it!

To Conclude,

I will like anything that is new, different, interesting and informative. I do like other people's ideas a lot and, would be happy if you just sent me instructions on how you file your toe nails. I'm not picky unless otherwise stated (i.e. the music thing..) but, I do prefer to have my opinions respected. That means, please don't send me anything political, religious or soap-on-a-rope. I find them intrusive.

Thanks! Arcadia

P.S.

It has come to my attention that I'm terrible at writing letters. Let's not write letters to each other okay??

Also, please, whenever you participate in a swap do yourself and your partner a favor and read their profile. It's very nice of you and, even if you're broke, atleast you can get some things that relate to them from the dollar store. Feel free to message me if you get me as a partner!!! I'm a bit of a chatter box and am willing to talk your head off. NBD! No big deal. Promise.

Comment: It's unfortunate that the organizer of this swap is the one who did not come through. I did receive an e-mail earlier that she'd gotten a job, but that was months ago.

Comment: Thank you Arcadia for the wonderful package! I love tea and yours smells wonderful. I love the cute jar and the colorful wrapping tissue. The candles were such a thoughtful extra. I am very happy with my "useful" potion!
Response: I'm glad! I wasn't sure if you'd like the tea but, I'm glad you do! I'm currently suffering from stomach flu and, helping me feel settled in the tummy region. Thank you for the heart!

Comment: Woohoo! What an awesome bag! Thank you so much - I love everything in it, especially the ring (which, amazingly, fits - it's very rare that rings actually manage that as I have ridiculously skinny fingers) and the palmistry book (I've been getting back into palmistry recently so it couldn't have come at a better time).
Response: I'm glad you liked the ring! Be careful though as it may turn your poor finger green! Rhymes! Ha! Did it remind you of Tara at all? I had some problems finding specific things but, none the less good deal lady and thank you for the heart!

Comment: We got the bag! Josh loved it, he was suprised and happy and very impressed, we were both very impressed! That was some great work! I hope Luke likes his bag as much as Jush liked his (very much indeed). I'll get it out asap, I'm waiting on various things to dry and still seeking out that perfect bag.
Response: Woo! I'm glad you both dug the bag! I wish I had watched a little bit more Angel before we started this, I hear Wesley turns into a badass! Luke still doesn't know! It's great! I've never been able to keep a secret from him this long!

Comment: These are wonderful re-swapped items. Thank you! You even went a bit by my profile it seems even though it was not required!
Response: Oh wow, you got that really fast! I'm glad that you liked everything! I kinda figured that even though it was sender's choice, what's the point of re-swapping if you don't send the person something they'd like? Silly.

Response: Comments like this make my day brighter! I'm really glad that I got you the little cupcake charm, there was another one shaped like a cupcake but it wasn't silver. I had read your profile saying you wanted charms but, totally didn't see the silver part of that...So! It was only after I got back home that I read that with a sigh of relief as the other charm was plastic. Thank you for my heart! I like them! And I'm glad that my first matchbox was so successful! Thank you!

Comment: OMG!!! You are the BEST!!! I love this package sooooo much!!! Thank you so much for reading my likes in my profile. I am thrilled!!! The tea and post-its are awesome but the infuser was the Greatest thing of all!!! I was just talking about how my infuser will not fit in my little tea pot!! And it is a chili pepper!! Thank you so much!! If I could give you ten hearts I would!!! Hugs, Paula
Response: You're very welcome lady! They had another infuser like yours that was shaped like a star. I got that one for myself and, it is genius!! Merry Unbirthday dear!

Boomshine is a wicked wicked game... and so pretty...

Needle felting critters is really fun. Check out wool pets - she has great directions in her book & kits. She kinda breaks it down like this - if you can make a figure with clay by building its individual shapes, you can do it with wool. Instead of squishing together clay, you are stabbing together (felting with the scary barbed needle) wool shapes. Try it!

Hey, you craft foam junkie - I don't know if you have a JoAnn's near you, but according to the flyer I got in tha mail, it's on sale this week. Thought about you when I was getting felt this morning.

You need to live on the western U.S. here it's weird if you don't listen to it.

And you're wrong about your writing skills, your profile is amazing. I want to read 'Off the Map' so badly now!

Unless the only music you like is Gwar I wouldn't think weirdly about you at all. :P
