About Me

I'm Back! After a year away from the 'bot I am back to have fun. As I hit 60 last year, I spent some time reflecting on my life's journey so far and what I hoped for my future. In response to that I had the biggest de-clutter so far and my house is now easy to manage, fresh and pretty, with a simple decor. I also decluttered my craft and am concentrating on just 2 crafts - Knitting and ATC's. Not to say I won't do anything else but this is what gives me the most pleasure. Finally I de-cluttered my mind and try to live a simple, eco-conscious life style. I have found it enormously satisfying so far.

So ..... I am married with 4 grown up sons and 1 grown up daughter and 8 grandchildren. I was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1981. In my time I have been a librarian, youth worker, administrator and charity shop manager. I have a kind and gentle husband who I married 25 years ago - we celebrate our Silver Wedding on July 26th this year! My beautiful dog, Ollie, is an English Cocker Spaniel - he's loving and protective and funny all at the same time.

Favorite Crafts

I have been Cardmaking since I was young, selling for the past 10 + years. I think I was born with a pair of scissors in my hand. I especially love collage work. I learnt to knit when my eldest was born, teaching myself after my poor Mum gave up on me! I have knitted many baby clothes in my time but now concentrate on hats, scarves and blankets for those who need them more than me. I've also started knitting dishcloths - would never go back to using throwaways. All my 'girls' get them at Christmas! Unfortunately we don't have the lovely sugar n cream yarn in Australia so I get it from USA. I have done many cross stitches in my time - some to sell and many of my family have a sampler or picture I've done for them but I don't enjoy it so much these days. I love all kinds of papercraft and gift wrapping and love putting gift parcels together. I don't scrapbook but am an avid journaller. I also learnt about ATC's here on the 'bot and am now obsessed with them!

I Love

Vintage; 1950's; Shabby Chic; Tea; England; Ribbon; Lace; Cake; Family; Lily Sugar n' Cream Cotton Yarn; Roses; Sweet Peas; Violets; Pansies; Stationery; Christmas; Soap, Polka Dots. Gift Wrapping and Parcels! Craft magazines, Shabby chic magazines, Martha Stewart etc. (But please no scrapbooking magazines as I don't scrapbook - but love other papercraft) I am a 'people' person rather than an 'animal' person

My favourite colours are: Vintage pink and baby blue together; orange; lavender; any pastel greens or blues; pink & white together; purple & gold together; red and white together; all shades of white, cream and taupe.

My Dislikes

  • Witches, wizards, halloween, skulls, skeletons, unicorns, fantasy etc (anything from the 'dark side')
  • Anime or Kawaii
  • Feathers.
  • I am not interested in postcards.
  • I sell ATC blanks on eBay so please don't send me any!

I do not drive nor do I have any desire to do so and get aggravated when people continually ask me! I also get peeved when my name is spelt wrong - it is Jennie with an 'ie'!! I hate Bad Language, but my biggest hate of all is 'Man's Inhumanity to Man'

Favorite Music

Blues; Soul; Rock; World; Classical; Some Metal; but sorry, definitely not Country!

Favorite Books

I enjoy many genres but especially classics and non fiction.

Quarantine Info

Please note that, as I live in Australia, quarantine rules have to be strictly adhered to - they are very strict and remove anything that does not comply. So please no:

  • straw, seeds, pinecones, flowers (even dried), bulbs, corn husks, vine wreaths.
  • Meat or meat products (even tinned), dairy or egg products including egg shells, fruit or veg seeds and skin.
  • Novelties or toys filled with sand, soil, rocks
  • Plants or seeds, nuts, grains, popping corn, lentils, coffee beans
  • Tea containing fruit pieces, seeds or peel
  • Dried herbs or leaves
  • Wooden items with bark
  • Souvenirs made of animal products like hide, feathers, teeth and bones

These are NOT MY rules - but I don't want any of your carefully selected swaps being rejected by the Customs department.

Wish List

  • Christmas tree trims, paper etc.
  • Orange - colour, flavour or scent
  • Christmas Tree ornaments
  • Snow anything
  • German glass glitter
  • Copic pens
  • ATC embellishments
  • Any ATC's you don't want!
  • Stationery from Carol's Rose Garden
  • Blank Hard Cover Composition Books - Don't think we have them in Australia
  • Glassine envelopes
  • Tea Dyed manilla tags (I've tried making them but never seem to get a good result
  • Sugar n Cream Yarn

Anyone interested in a personal swap from Australia in exchange for Composition books, Carol's Rose Garden stationery and Sugar n Cream Yarn please message me!

Flakers who have made me sad

Angels who have made me happy

You are all amazing!

Comment: hello. I received the package over the weekend. I am temped to open it but I think I should wait at least after I move. I don't think I can wait for Christmas. :) ***EDIT: Jennie!! I want to give you more HEARTS. I could not hold off; the package sat in the corner whispering to me "OPEN ME!!, You know you want too". So, I did. I LOVE everything. The detail and thought you put into everything touched my heart. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such a wonderful friend like you. Thank you!! :)
Response: Yay! I am so happy it has arrived safely. I don't mind if you decide to open before Christmas - I know all about temptation!

Comment: WOW Jennie your on the ball...and to think when I posted mine yesterday I thought I was being super organised LOL I will come back and add a heart at some stage through december when im opening them. I have been so good by not opening them, usually Ozzy and I have a gift opening frenzy and open THE LOT all at once, we are so bad at saving things! Neca84 told me to take them immediately around to her place so I didnt get tempted and open them but the willpower I have shown in amazing....oh well only another 50 odd sleeps and I can get into them...surely hope that I dont cave in and open them before hand ( of which there is a high possability LOL )

Comment: The heart ATC you made is wonderful! The green on the hat is not bad at all. It would have to be even muddier than that for me not to like it. I do like most vintage and this ATC is a nice bright vintage theme. Love the card it came in too! Very cute!

Comment: Thanks so much for the great Christian ATCs. I love them. The pass it on ATCs were great too. Some of them fit my collection. Some might get passed on, but thats the point right? Pass until they find homes that fit them. Thanks for a great swap!

raspberryrose on Sep 27, 2011:

Thanks Jennie for the Not Crappy Tag. The weather should be perfect here when you come in December. It is FINALLY starting to warm up after a long freezing winter. We moved here from NSW in 2003 and love it, though it is a bit boring at times but I'll take that over the Sydney traffic anyday!

icrossmyheart on Sep 11, 2011:

Not a problem, so glad you liked them! & thanks for letting me save money on postage :)

Thank you for the letter. I'm so happy for you that both your boys are doing so well with the things they love. You obviously did a good job Momma! Fingers crossed our puppet show does well too!

Take good care Danielle
