About Me

My name is Emma; I'm 22 years old and from Yorkshire, England. I work for HSBC bank and am hoping to do a cake decorating course in college in September! I have a boyfriend of almost five years who I love to bits. My favourite hobby at the moment is gardening! I have a vegetable patch in my back garden where I'm currently gorwing some late varieties of some veggies including peas, carrots, turnips, chinese cabbage, spinach and broccolli.

Interests

Baking, cooking, reading, writing, swimming, penpalling, blogging, surfing the 'net, spending time with friends and family, Stevie Ryan, taking photographs.

Likes...

I'm obsessed with Gothic things, and love the 50's look. I am an absolute food addict; I love doing recipe and food swaps and will eat pretty much anything (so long as it's not banana flavoured!)!

What I'd like...

I've only just joined swap-bot but I want to do more recipe and sweet swaps, particularly as the swaps have a lot of people from the US and I really want to try more sweets (or should I say candy!) from the US. I'm dying to try a twinkie!!

I'd also love magazine cut outs from gardening magazines or printoffs or small passagees from books or just your own advice on vegetable gardening, and swaps for seeds and cuttings for your favourite vegetables.

Please don't send me...

Anything banana flavoured, or recipes with a lot of lemon/lime in. Also, unless you're from the UK please try to not send me recipes with branded ingredients them, like coolwhip or something, because we don't get it over here. Also, I don't really want recipes where the main ingredient in them is "a cake mix" - that's cheating! Hehe! =)

Favourite...

colours: pink and green smells: vanilla, lavender, chocolate animals: dogs, ducks, fish bands: Fall Out Boy, Goldfinger, My Chemical Romance, Britney Spears drink: green tea

Comment: Oh! Emma, your package of treats was wonnnderful! The shortbread cookies are my favorite. I haven't had shortbread since going veg. They are so delicious I wanted to cry a I tasted them. I also sampled one of the cola fizzy straws...mmm! YOu haqve some very nie vegan treats there in the U.K. and you did a fantastic job of picking out things I would love. Thanks so much!
Response: You're welcome! If you're ever in need of anymore of those biscuits, let me know and we can always arrange another one! I got a lot of things from the same place, there are two supermarkets over here which are REALLY good for making things vegan. Like the jelly and the cola bottles... Instead of using gelatine, they use a vegan gelling agent instead! ^_^

Comment: Thank you so much for the easy easy pasta sauce. I have to admit...I've always needed a basic easy sauce recipe...I usually buy by the bottle....but certainly should be making some from scratch. And the funny thing is...I just learned who Jamie Oliver IS...because I was in an international magazine swap and recieved a magazine from england featuring his wife...so had to google him up!! giggle..thank you!!
Response: You're welcome =) I love Jamie Oliver, if you like cooking and recipes you should definitely check out his website, he makes some really nice stuff and it's mostly all really simple and down to earth, which I really like. Some TV chefs cook really fancy stuff with ingredients you can't buy in your local supermarket, but Jamie doesn't! Thanks for the rating ^_^

Comment: Wow!!! Thank you so much. The recipes are great and the extras are fab. The paper is gorgeous. I am grateful for the apple recipes as I have been given apples, today funnily enough, from a man at work - from his garden. The earwax ones are truly disgusting but definately worth giving a go. I think I will use them at Christmas!! xx
Response: You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it. I really liked the earwax ones, definitely disgusting but I thought it was very clever! I'm going to a hallowe'en party so I'm thinking about taking them along for that! =)

Comment: Thanks Emma. I've not made DateNut bread since I was a child. We used to make it in round tin cans for dainty sandwiches with cream cheese. wow ...what a memory.
