My name is Katie :] I love private swaps!
I love it when people use recycled envelopes and boxes! Save the earth! :D
snail mail! Oh, don't we all... I have a few great penpals and really enjoy writing them letters... However, I have recently gotten much more into sending and receiving postcards! They are small, and don't take much time, yet you can really put so much thought and kindness into them.
nature! :D and gardening I would be content with just sitting under a big tree and listening to the rustle of the leaves and chirping of birds all day. I have many houseplants and I love gardening. Succulents, cacti, trees, orchids, daffodils, dogwoods, fruits & vegetables, and green viny houseplants are my favorite things to grow.
all colors! I will run outside and literally "chase" rainbows at any chance I get. :] I love them all, really, but if I do have to choose just a few, I guess "earthy-colors."
music! I play the flute and piccolo, and dabble a little in saxophone and oboe.
college sports! Go Rutgers Scarlet Knights!!!
reading! Especially fantasy (LOTR, Harry Potter, anything by Tamora Pierce), as well as scientific fiction. Margaret Atwood is currently my favorite author. And while newspaper comics are hardly reading material, I looove "Pearls Before Swine" by Stephan Pastis and I'm slowing accumulating the collections.
POSTCARDS!!!!! (See section below)
Anything I can use for writing letters:
stationery
envelopes
kawaii!!!!!
at the moment, I am only looking for sticker sheets of small, FLAT stickers. I use them on postcards. :]
Favorite characters and designs: Tsuginohi Kerori (Tomorrow Frog by San-X)!!!!!, Sabo Kappa (San-X), Monokuro Boo (San-X), Tenorikuma (Sanrio), Landry (Sanrio), clover!, fairytales
Favorite themes:
beach, ocean
fairies, fantasy creatures, castles
flowers, trees, old growth forests
woodland animals, froggies, turtles, piggies, cute cows
sunshine, clouds, rainbow, moon & stars
ladybugs, dragonflies
berries!!! I like those deep, rich color themes, too.
Disney (esp. Eeyore and The Little Mermaid)
Misc. items I'd definitely enjoy:
insightful quotes
real 4-leaf clovers (pressed)
fruity candies (not a big fan of chocolate except Kinder brand or really dark)
I would especially love to receive postcards showing:
UNESCO World Heritage Sites!!! If you are interested to know the sites I am missing, please ask. It's too long of a list to post!
protected nature sites like state parks, national parks, bioreserves, etc. Have any US National Parks, US National Monuments, or US National Forests??? I am trying to collect these.
State map postcards -- I prefer them "clean" in an envelope in case I get doubles. If anyone wants a private swap, I can send New Jersey! (and usually some other random states) Don't worry about sending duplicates-- I love them all :]
I most prefer written and stamped from the country of origin, OR unwritten in an envelope (as mentioned above). I do not care for written postcards in an envelope.
When you write on your postcards to me, please write as much as you can!!! (or draw, sticker, etc...fill it up!) My favorite part about a card is the personal touch you add. You can tell me anything and I will love it, but if there are only a few words or a generic phrase, I admit I get disappointed.
I also enjoy receiving used postcards. Maybe you have some that don't fit your collection, but you think I would enjoy? By all means, send them my way. :]
I'm also on Postcrossing (and the forums there) with the same name.
Kawaii... I have some new things, but mostly grab bag type items (loose memos, stickers, letter sets, etc). I don't have a store to buy it around here, but I've got a stash.
Other stationery, note cards, stickers, postcards (esp. maps!), handmade envelopes
Possibly other things... just ask!

Hi Katie! Wow, I thought I wrote tiny - you sure can fit a lot of words on a postcard. Thank you SO much for the lovely reply to my Ocean Cty PC I sent for the "P.S. Write Back PCs #13" I read "Bonk" when I got a promo copy of it, & have always meant to read M.R.'s others - she writes so well, that you get sucked in before realizing how scientific the topic is. Hope you're enjoying your summer, read as much as you can while you have a bit of free time. ;) Take care ~Lisa
