8/26/18 - Notice: my fibromyalgia is going through a bad phase and have some other medical issues to deal with so I need to need to take a temporary leave. It’s breaks my heart but I won’t take a chance on no being able to follow through. Hope to be back soon.
2/19/19. I’m back! Finally feeling better....
live in Eureka, CA - northern CA on the coast in the redwoods. I was born and raised here and I love it because it's beautiful and green. Since we're on the coast the weather is mild (not like southern CA) and we get a fair amount of rain. I love the rain and fog. I am retired and just married 5 years ago to a wonderful man! I've never been so happy... I was divorced once - we had 4 children, and I was widowed once. I adopted and raised one grandchild.
I love music! I was in my teens in the '60's so I love folk music, Neil Diamond, the Mamas and Papas, Simon & Garfunkle, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Elton John, Cher, and on and on... I like Classical - Beethoven, Mozart, Bach I like most country music. I love anything I can dance to!
I love to read. I love Jane Austen. I started with "Pride and Prejudice" when I was ten. I love biographies. As a kid I read a lot of Nancy Drew and I still love her and light murder mysteries. I've read all of Agatha Christie A favorite over time has been "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", "Eat, Pray, Love"
Added Nov. 2016 - discovered "Boilerplate" steampunk is o.k., but Boilerplate is fascinating!
I have very eclectic tastes in movies. I love mysteries and romances. I do not like horror movies. I've liked a lot of foreign movies. I loved "Lincoln" I loved the Exotic Marigold Hotel and one of my all time faves is Love, Acually. I love, love, love Christmas movies.
I watch a lot of TV (while crafting) Project Runway is a fave, I like DIY decorating shows, house hunting and cooking shows. I love any craft show. I like Bones, Sherlock Holmes, Midsomer Murders, New Tricks, Doc Martin, Inspector Lewis... I love Masterpiece Theater (ooh! and Edward Gorey) We don't miss an episode of "Downton Abbey"
I started doing crafts as a child, with my Mom and Grandmother. I crochet, embroider, sew, tole paint. I just started (in the last few months) doing whimsy mixed media. I've done rubber stamping and ATCs for years. We no longer have a local ATC group and I've been trading online. and stencils, ooh! and Zentangles and altered books and the Gelli Plate printer I forgot to add that I've been quilting for years. I have done hand-piecing but I'm impatient so I like machine sewing best. I love making dolls and stuffed animals, too. I have stuff/crap all over my house, organization is not my skill. I have to see it or I forget it. But I LOVE all my crap, it shows that I'm creative!
I collect elephants and rubber duckies. (Go Oregon Ducks!) I make jewelry - beading, shrink plastic, and paper. We went to London and Paris on our honeymoon and I fell in love with the Eiffel Tower. We want to go to India - the Taj Mahal, painted elephants, and the gorgeous saris and colors. I love earrings, esp dangly (but not too long - I have a short, fat neck-lol) and blingy.
Cute papers (for ATCs and Post Cards) Any thing with cute critters - cats, dogs, foxes, hedgehogs, chickens, ducks... Birds, butterflies Nature - acorns, leaves, trees, FLOWERS, mushrooms Ocean critters - fish, octopus, sea horses, crabs, oysters, coral reefs, jellyfish, boats, anchors (my Dad was a commercial fisherman) Anything '60's The Eiffel Tower (French anything) Nancy Drew anything Colors - teal, purple, pink, yellow, stained glass, rainbows
Christmas and Christmas music - anywhere, anytime! My only tattoo is a music note jingle bell. If you can't think of anything to send, Christmas always works. Papers, ornaments, Dotees, earrings, cut-outs, cards, postcards, notecards...
I don’t sign up for a swap unless I'm positive I can do it, and get it sent on time. I DO NOT FLAKE!
I was given (to rehome) a cute little mini-dachshund. Her name is Cleopatra and she’s 10 years old. We love this little cutie pie!
