About Me

I am a wife and SAHM of two. I received my bachelor's degree in May and hope to start graduate school in the spring. I love to read and work on creative writing projects. I consider myself crafty and always have a project going. My favorite colors are yellow and dark purple. I am a practicing Christian who hopes to become more involved with our new church. I also am interested in homeschooling our children.

Favorite Music

I like classical and opera. I have seen the Romeo et Juliet by Gounod, Carmen by Bizet, Madame Butterfly by Puccini and The Daughter of the Regiment. I have several operas on my wishlist.I do occasionally listen to other types, although not rap. I also like contemporary Christian music; some of my favorite artist are Toby Mac, Third Day, Jars of Clay, and Stacie Orrico

Favorite Books

I like all types: fiction, biography, non-fiction, literature, etc. I used to be a big romance fan when I was younger, but I tend to like more "genteel" stories nowadays, meaning I don't tend to read a lot of bodice rippers lately. I also like poetry. I had a big book collection before Katrina but had to pare it down due to space constraints. I like horror by Stephen King, John Saul, and Dean Koontz. I like a lot of medical fiction/non-fiction. I also like Poe, Hawthorne, and Wilde I like a lot of different genres; I am also a fledgling writer who dabbles in everything.

Favorite Crafts

Sewing, drawing, painting, greeting cards. I like trying new things. I tend to experiment with crafts a lot. I also occasionally make my own sewing patterns.

Favorite Television

I like a variety of television. When we are not plagued with children's dvds, we like to watch House or True Blood. We also watch a lot of television shows on DVD.

Favorite Food

I do not like beets. I had to get that one out of the way! I like several different cuisines, although I've really have like Sushi best lately. When I cook, I like to experiment with flavors and spices. I really love chocolate, the stranger the combo the better!

Trades

I would like to one-on-one trades in the future if anyone (regional US) is interested. Some items I can think of to offer: * Recipes, Regional Recipes * Children's videos-I can offer two versions of The Land Before Time (VHS or DVD), and a Baby Einstein * I have other videos I am willing to trade * Children's clothing (I have some my kids have outgrown that I would like to see go to a good home) I probably can think of more. PM if you have a question or suggestion.

LIKES

I am listing these things because I would love to see handmade items for any of the following:

  • Celtic crosses
  • Christian imagery
  • Vintage painting instruction books
  • Hummels (I would never expect to receive the figurines, but artwork or such is welcome)
  • Old books (before 1950)
  • miniatures, particularly dollhouse miniatures
  • homeschooling supplies
    My son (2 1/2 ) likes:
  • Veggie Tales
  • Thomas and Friends
  • BOZ
  • The alphabet and numbers (bit of an obsession)
  • Items he can make the above out of: pipe cleaners, paper, pencils
    My daughter (1 1/2) likes
  • dolls
  • shoes
  • bracelets
  • purses

DISLIKES

  • beets
  • licorice
  • clowns
  • anti-Christian anything
  • pagan items (I don't have anything against most of them, just consider them inappropriate for myself)
  • toilet humor
  • mean people
  • yucky items that are dirty, ripped, full of hair, etc.
  • stickers-the kids just make a mess with them on the furniture so I'd rather not receive them unless I ask for them.

Comment: Thanks for the inspiration. I liked the ATc style prompts, but maybe a little less glue next time, lol, as they were stuck together as one!!
Response: I think I was a little too enthusiastic with that glue! Sorry about that.

Response: Thanks! I was worried about that one. I kept having trouble figuring about how to put the floss through the spine of the book.

Comment: The heart if for presentation -- the "old letter" truly looked old. The idea of the story is a catchy one. I'd have liked some build up [although folllowing the prompt as a first line that doesn't really work -- but it would have been interesting if we knew about the wife and kid andfelt some foreboding or some kind of story that would make us truly frightened by the old letter and relieved at the end. If you need an idea for writing maybe even a novella, you cold us that, with the 200 year old letter perhaps forshadowed by an old portrait or something. You have a lot of potential.
Response: Thanks for the input! The letter was indeed old; I wrote it on a piece of paper that literaly fell put of a book I own from 1801.

Response: Yes, I am due to read the series again as well. I was flipping through the books trying to find inspiration (the letter)
