I'm a 26-year old native New Yorker with a love-hate relationship with my city. Right now I'm a graduate student, and I also work teaching adults from other countries to speak English. I'm graduating in June, though, and then I'm going to be a full-time ESL teacher in a public school...I'm a little nervous, but excited!

I'm also a wannabe-writer, and I collect cute notebooks and pens and papery things. (Including kawaii stuff.) I love traveling, and have a long list of places I have to visit some time in my life. Airplanes make me happy, and I'm always happy to receive stuff with airplanes on them. I love people-watching, movie-watching, reading, rollerblading, photography, random pictures of strangers, learning random words in new languages, making stuff, giggling, comedy clubs, playing games, wandering around aimlessly, coffee + tea drinking, and being silly. When it comes to receiving things in the mail, anything goes...I love getting little toys and knicknacks, jewelry, cds, makeup, books, handmade things, candy, edible and drinkable stuff, artsy stuff, unusual stickers, journals, pictures of stuff you see everyday, anything creative...It's really not hard to make me happy. I'm not picky at all. : ) Oh, and my favorite colors are purple and silver. I also love combinations of grey with bright colors. But I like other colors, too.

There's nothing in particular that I don't like to get. I just don't like getting packages that smell like cigarettes or are coated in thick layers of pet hair. I DO love to know a little something about the swapper who sent the package, though, so feel free to send a little hello note introducing yourself with your swaps ; )

I like pretty-sounding indie music, cheezy old pop, and anything with unique lyrics (that's so hard to find!) I love getting mix CDs and hearing new artists.

I love Netflix. I just love renting strange movies from around the world, classics, and stuff that never comes on TV. Some of my favorites are Amelie, Chungking Express, Tampopo, Modern Times, Born into Brothels, Ratatouille, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, and Mary Poppins.

Lately I've been watching as much Comedy Central Presents as possibly possible. And I like Larry King Live. And Next...That's the MTV dating show, where kids go out on dates and dump each other, and and say the cheeziest lines I've ever heard...I don't know why, but it just cracks me up. And I like reality shows with people so weird, it's hard to believe they exist (well, they probably don't, but still...). Also re-runs of old sitcoms. And South Park.

I make collage jewelery out of paper. I collect little pictures, paper scraps, stickers, glitter, and pretty patterns to decorate them with. There's a link to my Etsy shop at the top of the page, if you're curious to see what they look like. I like journaling, and I write a lot, so I love little notepads and colorful pens. Also, I love those little kits that teach you how to do new crafts.

I read a lot...both fiction and non-fiction. I usually go for literary fiction (not cheezy romances, sci fi or mysteries). Some of my favorite books are Everything is Illuminated (Jonathan Safron Foer), Breakfast of Champions (Kurt Vonnegut), The House on Mango Street (Sandra Cisneros), and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. I also really like non-fiction books that teach me stuff, fun coffee table books, photography, zines, poetry, crafty books...anything really... :)
