I am a stay-at-home mommy currently living in Northern California. My husband recently finished his Masters degree in Political Science and has embarked on a career in the Army. We have two little girls -- one two year-old and a new little one born in June! I have a bachelor's degree in English Literary Studies with an American Studies minor (and a little piano on the side). Things that make me smile: books, babies, faith, family, cooking and baking, making stuff, travel, music, nesting, quilting, crafty blogs, farmer's markets, amazing fabric, education, homebirth, NPR, cats, dogs, and hugs.

I love making both quilts and small-ish projects -- zip pouches, tote bags, skirts for my girls, handmade cards, etc. Sewing crafts are my favorite!

String quartets, classical piano concertos and solos, opera, the MoTab, The Grateful Dead, and seriously booty-shakin' funk.

Thoughtful young adult novels (The Goose Girl; Speak, The House of the Scorpion) and not-too-dense adult non-fiction (Animal, Vegetable, Miracle; Wild Swans; Collapse; Enrique's Journey). I also relish a good magazine from Martha Stewart, Real Simple, and the like every once in a while.

Pride & Prejudice...and any other Jane Austen-based movie, for that matter, any version! I also love Ken Burns documentaries, The Business of Being Born, Winged Migration, and Les Miserables.

• Fabric! I can never get enough! My favorites are bold, clean, happy, modern colors and designs. I love (LOVE!) all those trendy designers - Heather Bailey, Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, Joel Dewberry, Heather Ross, etc. and would love pretty much anything from one of them. I would also love to receive Japanese fabric (either cotton or linen), vintage bed sheets/linens, or anything with mushrooms, mod birds, or rainbows on it.
• Sewing notions and goodies, like zippers and grosgrain (or other) ribbon and thread and buttons and things.
• Unique or regional foods (support your local economy, woot!), snacks, baking supplies, and condiments.
• Classy, Kawaii, or whimsical stationery (especially letterpress!), notebooks, pens/pencils, etc.
• Deco tape...I've never had any, but I got a package once that had some on it, and I'm in love!
• Chocolate with 64-80ish% cacao is my favorite (interesting add-ins are fun once in a while, too). I love pretty much all candy/chocolate, though...I can't really think of anything my sweet tooth doesn't like. :)
• Body products that smell pretty, but not in floral or sickly sweet scents -- I usually stick to more herbal, musky, citrusy, etc. scents. I love handmade soap and I REALLY love anything Burt's Bees! I don't have much of a need for candles right now, though.
• Handmade jewelry (but my ears aren't pierced). I love natural looks and styles -- stone, bone, earth tone rocks, silver, etc.
• iTunes gift cards!
• Hot chocolate and tea, but I do not drink caffeine or decaf anything.
• I should say that I really don't like most knicknacks/dust collecting type stuff. I love pretty things, but they MUST be functional. I don't collect ATCs, inchies, or Dotee Dolls.
• Surprises! Don't feel like you have to send me stuff that I've mentioned here; if you think I might like it, fire away!

• Cigarette smoke

• Coffee or non-herbal tea
• Knicknacks or dust collectors
