About Me

I love to give and receive handmade things, embroidery/redwork, quilting (machine applique, piecing and quilting, grandmother's flower garden), tote bags, rubber stamping/cardmaking, wool and wool felt, crafts, as well as baking cupcakes and yummy desserts. I love to see what everyone else is making, get lots of great ideas for new things to try.

My favorite holiday is Halloween, but I also like to make crafts for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, 4th of July, etc.

Favorite Television

All kinds of stuff, Dexter, Lost, Project Runway, Top Chef, American Idol, anything where they have crafty challenges.

Favorite Crafts

Embroidery/redwork, felt food and critters, rubber stamping/cardmaking, quilting/sewing, baking... Love trying new things or anything that's a challenge.

Favorite colors/fabrics

Brights (eg Strawberry Lemonade, Butterfly Fling, but any bright spots and dots and prints), batiks, Moda Swell or other 1930s reproduction fabrics, soft cottage pastels, holidays, sock monkeys, lean more towards whimsical than serious. Designers include Michael Miller, Me and My Sister, Bunny Hill, Artisan Batiks by Lunn Studios(Robert Kaufman), Funky Monkey, Dick and Jane. Love charm squares and jelly rolls (though they take forever to use up!) and FQs are always fun.

Not a fan of Civil War, Thimbleberries, dark fabrics

Style

Whimsical, silly, beachy, fun. Sock monkeys rule! Not stuffy, serious or anal-retentive about anything.

Wish list

Re-Ment. Amigurumi, felt cute/ugly creatures/food, polymer clay charms or creatures, ATCs, inchies, or whatever craft you enjoy making, hand made or store bought kits and/or instructions to make new crafts. If you send a craft, I'd love it if you share how to make it.

No thanks

Please no food items, especially sweets or melty things.

No strong scents or incense. No lotion.

No Civil War, Thimbleberries, dark fabrics

Comment: Hello Amy, I said it all when I talked about your black cat ATC. Your witch did not disappoint either. Your use of felt is a real talent. I wish I had the patience you have with this material. You are very detailed-oriented and it is present in this piece just like it was in the black cat. In this one it comes down to the witches black eyes, nose and mouth, even the yellow trim on the witch's hat. Thank you again for the beautiful felt ATC. This will be another special ATC of the Halloween series I was fortunate to receive from you. Hope to meet up with you again soon. Barb sleepingrover2010
Response: She was fun to design. Glad you liked her!

Comment: Hello Amy, WOW! What a great treat I found when I opened your envelope and was greeted with not one but two ATCs as part of Halloween series ATCs. I feel blessed that I got different partners for this 8 part series because my series will be a collection of varied interpretations of Halloween ideas. However, I also feel blessed that I received two of your pieces. The sewn black cat out under the yellow crescent moon is just GORGEOUS!!!! right down to the details of her little white whiskers, little beady eyes, little hump back and little black curly tail. I love that you chose to put it on a purple background (my favorite color) and that you put the two pieces of felt together with a bright orange whip stitch (am I describing the right stitch?). This is one of treasured ATCs I will have in this series. Thank you. Happy Swapping until we meet up again. Barb sleepingrover2010
Response: I really enjoy working with felt. Those were fun to make. Happy Halloween!

Thankyou so much for taking the trouble to look up the softie information I needed. I am so grateful.

freespirit66 on May 25, 2009:

Thank you so much for the huge packet of goodies - items from Peru that I can use with homeschooling my daughters, the cute Mary Engelbreit cross-stitch kits, the lion cross-stitch pattern (I'm going to make this for Olivia's Christmas gift), handmade necklaces for my daughters, and Japanese craft patterns.

The package really lifted my spirits since I'm dealing with my dad's diagnosis of significant memory loss (all signs are pointing to Alzheimer's Disease).

It has been a challenging and emotionally-draining month, and receiving such a wonderful package in the mail like this was much-needed and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Carotte on Feb 28, 2009:

thank you sooo much for that awsome package! I think my dad is jealous of my stack of silly putty now :) .
