About Me

badge Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a happily married, mother of two, Lachlan 7 and Sophie 3. I also work full time in one of the government departments which has lately had me travelling the country. I live in Canberra and have done since I was 18 months old when my family moved from England. I like to spend my freetime doing some sort of craft project which is usually when the kids have gone to bed. A friend of mine does swaps so I thought I would have a look on the net and see what I could find. So here I am and look forward to enjoying some swaps.

Favorite Crafts

Was taught embroidery by an Aunt when I was eight and have been doing some sort of craft since. Currently really enjoying quilting and have started scrapbooking and stamping.

Favorite Books

Really enjoy books by Belinda Alexander, an Australian author and Anthony Capella, loved his book 'Food of love' and looking forward to reading his book 'Wedding Officer' which is next on my list to read after my current book.

Favorite Movies

Not a fan of Horrors at all. Like the old musicals like 'South Pacific' and 'The King and I'. Enjoy watching Disney movies with my kids otherwise pretty much anything.

Some of my favourite movies

The Mummy series - looking forward to the third

Pirates of the Carribean - All

Lakehouse

Speed - The first only

The King and I

Things I love

CHRISTMAS, love decorating my house.

I have no real favourite colour, partial to purple but love bright colours, earthy tones and also the soft subtles.

Violets, love them, I have them planted under my deck at home.

Bushwalking we go whenever we can, I love nature.

Waterfalls, always seek them out when we go away to new places.

Movie night fridays, when we all watch a movie at home and veg around eating popcorn and have take away for dinner. Perfect way to end a week of work.

Listening to the rain on the tin roof.

Spending time with family, I think family is very important.

Charm squares, latest quilting project.

Fat qtrs, you can never have too many.

Scrapbooking and stamping anything to do with it, love embelishments.

Quotes, always on the lookout for a good quote.

Otters, always first on my list when we visit the zoo.

I would really like it if you wanted to send a postcard to either of my children, or add a surprise for them.

Tea, except berry and lemon based herbal teas.

Chocolate - Dark

Cooking love to try new things, muffins are always a favourite with me for the kids for snacks. Although my oven has not been working since February, hopefully to be fixed by August.

Butterflies

Dislikes

Berry flavoured anything, though I do like the fruit, go figure.

Clowns, not a fan at all.

Hard candies like rock candy, Candycanes and gobstoppers.

Thunder storms - freak me out.

Moths, yuck!!!!!

Coffee, tried it - not for me

White chocolate

My Kids

Lachlan - 7 years old (April 2001 child)

Loves Pokemon, Dragons, Lego and his Xbox 360.

Also enjoys trains, going to the zoo (currently wants to be a ranger or zookeeper when he gets older) and riding his motorbike.

He is a creative boy, loves making presents for family at Christmas and drawing.

Plays tee-ball in summer and is keen to play baseball when he is old enough.

Sophie - 3 years old (September 2005 child)

LOVES Dora, Barbie, Faires, Curious George and dressing up. Enjoys having books read to her and she will go to sleep with 10 books in her bed as she likes to read to her toys.

She loves being a pretty girl when it suits and her favourite color is pink. But then can be a real tomboy, especially when Dad goes out to the motorbikes, she has to be on them as well.

Things you can not send to Aus

A big no-no is tea bags or any other plant material! Chocolate is generally ok :) If you are worried a full list is available at:

Comment: Hello Sarah, Well, your recipe is very new to me. I've heard of ginger snap cookies, but never any kind of biscuit that has to do with ginger. However, in Australia is a biscuit similar to what we call a cookie in the U.S.? The recipe sounds yummy and I want to try them. I probably will try them for the Christmas holiday as that is usually when ginger type cookies are served most often. I appreciate you putting the measurements in both metric and standard measurement as in the U.S. we still don't use the metric system. I will proudly be adding your recipe to my ever-growing and ever-unique recipe postcard collection. I look forward to completing this swap and putting the recipes together in some kind of special container. I don't know what that is yet, but hopefully will know by the end of the swap. Do you have any ideas about how you are going to bind or put together your recipe postcards when the swap is over? I hope we have further Swap-bot encounters. Hope you are having a wonderful Spring season. I think I am correct when I say you are in the season of Spring? Barb Brandt sleepingrover2010

Postcard Question Tag -

Thanks so much for the wildlife postcard you sent to Sebastian. He's very sad you don't have Halloween there. Perhaps you could get it started, I know my mother did it in her small community in South America.

Looking forward to penpalling....
