Hi! :)

Please do the courtesy of sending me a PM before rating me 1 so we can talk about it. I live in the Philippines so it may take a long while especially if one lives in the western part of the world. Mails and parcels do get lost and stolen and if ever that happens, I'm willing to make it up to you. Thank you. :)

About Me

I'm Meian and I'm a twenty-something registered nurse. I'm just a simple homebody girl but there are some times that I glam myself up. Lol. I spend most of my free time reading books, playing MMO games, trying out new recipes, and hanging out with my boyfriend and my darling cat, Miyu. I'd love to make more friends and send/receive mail and stuff from all over the world.

Favorite Books

Reading is a hobby that I truly enjoy. I read mostly the Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer types of books - just about anything historical.

Fairy tales are also my favorites. I love them all especially the tales from the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and the stories from The Welsh Fairy Book.

I also enjoyed reading Dan Brown's books and the Harry Potter series. I also love Dewey and if you like books, libraries, and cats then I'm sure you'll love it too! I also read manga and I follow the following series: Naruto, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, and Ouran Koukou Host Club.

For some of the books I've read, you can check out my Shelfari profile. :)

Music, TV, and Movies

My taste in music is eclectic and I don't stick to specific genres. As long as the music's easy on the ears, I don't mind. There are some loud and upbeat songs that I like too. I find myself listening more to songs by Alicia Keys, Enya, Norah Jones, The Corrs, Lenka, The Cranberries, and Sixpence None The Richer. I like Carrie Underwood and Paramore too. Lady Gaga is over the top but there are some songs from her that I dance to despite the fact that I dance like a bamboo tree. Lol. I'm currently appreciating acoustic, country, and nature/tranquil music.

I'm not much into TV. I watch reality shows before like Survivor, The Amazing Race, and America's Next Top Model but not anymore. Aside from the evening news, the only series that I follow now are The Big Bang Theory, House M.D., and Chuck.

My boyfriend and I usually go to the theaters and see a movie once a month. I like a good cry once in a while and haven't cried in the movies since watching The Notebook. Lol. We're into those kids-only-Disney-Pixar-Dreamworks animation movies that even adults love. Sometimes we watch full-of-flinching horror and action movies. :D

Favorite Crafts and Swaps

I favor crafts and swaps that have to do with paper and lots of creativity such as ATCs, skinnys, zines, postcards, letters (penpals anyone?), journals, bookmarks, poetry, fictions, recipe books/cards, printables, stickers, stationery, etc.

I can do cross-stitch embroidery and have learned to do it when I was in grade school.

I'm new to crocheting and currently learning how to make an amigurumi - not successful in this endeavor yet.

I can also sew and I currently enjoy making cute felt food. :D

Random Loves

This is not my wishlist and I've just put it in here so my partners would know what I like and get ideas for some swaps. Anyway, I like what you worked hard for and will appreciate the effort and kind thoughts in it even if it's not influenced by the things listed below. :)

  • chocolate - especially with almonds, dark chocolate, and those ones spiced with chili. :D

  • purple, pink, and earthy colors

  • cats - I have a cat, a mixed breed of British shorthair and Persian.

  • dogs - we have five happy and well-loved mongrels.

  • kawaii / cute things - not necessarily restricted to Japanese things. I love all sorts of cuteness!

  • a starry nightsky

  • fictions

  • fairy tales - I love all of them but for references for the Once Upon a Time group, I'm listing: Hansel and Gretel, The Little Match Girl, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Ugly Duckling.

  • hearts

  • flowers

  • coffee

  • tea - fruity, black, and green tea

  • fruit juice

  • desserts - yes, I do have a sweet tooth. ;P

  • Pocky

  • vegetables

  • seafood

  • anything handmade/crafted with love :)

On swapping...

~ I always rate as soon as I receive your swap. But if ever it's taking me too long to rate, just give me a nudge.

~ Please do the courtesy of sending me a PM before rating me 1 so we can talk about it. I live in the Philippines so it may take a long while especially if one lives in the western part of the world. Mails and parcels do get lost and stolen and if ever that happens, I'm willing to make it up to you and re-send.

~ I always use kawaii and cute Asian stationery with funny english on them as swap notes/cards. I have tons of the latter (accumulated since my early teens) and I'm using them instead of throwing them away.

~ I always use cute deco tape on my packages. I like them looking bright and bubbly. :D

~ I may re-use packaging that is still in good condition.

~ I do mostly private swaps (and also group swaps) so if you feel like having a one-on-one swap with me, I'd be delighted. I'm not that picky and I'm easy to please. Just drop me a PM. :)

~ I'm not into big package swaps because aside from the huge amount of postage, I have been flaked on a few times. I may do it in the future though, I'm not closing any doors on anything. I would love to try out new things eventually.

hana

Flaked :(

I really don't want to list them here in the first place but I put tons of effort in these packages, not to mention the international shipping costs. Sigh. If anyone here is kind enough to angel for me, your kindness will not be left unappreciated. :)

Comment: I am most grateful for the lovely gowns thou hadst most graciously fashioned for me! It is a difficult thing to decide upon just one, but if I must make a choice, then I choose the gown dubbed "billow gold dust." Mayhap I will catch myself a fairy prince dressed in such finery! ~Fairy Godmother
Response: Thank you. Thou art most kind. :)

Comment: Thanks for the wonderful postcard. I love the different scenes from around the country. I like the random facts you included; I had no idea about your flag, and would have never thought of that. I know the USA has lots of flag rules, but I don't think there's anything specific we do when we're at war.
Response: Thank you and you're welcome! Hopefully, we don't have to use that rule in the future. ;)

Comment: Wow! Thank you so much for resending. The journal is gorgeous - I'm almost afraid to use it! :) I also love the postcards - such beautiful scenery. Thanks again!
Response: Thank you! :D Oh I'm sooo glad you finally got it! You don't know how nervous I am because I don't have anymore materials to make another handmade journal! LOL.That's the last, I guess, until I have the budget for them again. :D You are very welcome and I would love to swap with you again! EDIT: Wow. I just saw that you're one of my partners for the Reading Log swap! Nice! :D

Comment: Hey :))) No problem :)) I'm sure you'll like "The Kite Runner." Some parts are very, VERY strong, I even had to stop reading at one or two parts because it was just way too much for me, but the way the writer makes you think about human nature is incredible. You may also find "A Thousand Splendid Suns" interesting. It's by the same author. I bought it for the title because it was too nice to pass and I loved it. Happy swapping :)))
Response: Thanks for the rating and heart! :D I can't wait to look for them on my next trip to the bookstore. :D
