Muses and inspiration in my life include FLB: Francesca Lia Block, and poetry but the kind of James Joyce or even more lyrical to me is James Baldwin, Jessica Hagedorn, and I love passion.
Little things that bring me happiness are stickers, pens, childish toys like finger paints and chocolate cake batter, and cupcakes with perfect frosting or imperfect sprinkles and dancing and going to the beach and digging naked toes into the warm sand.
Chocolates, truffles, sweet sugary things, who can resist? I love Smarties which are like M&M's but sold abroad...
I love looking for smooth glass along the shore and seashells.
I love watching the birds and waves crashing for hours.
I love libraries with free books and smells of little kids running around and arguments about free speech or whatever silly stupid things we argue about that aren't going to change or are going to change the world.
I've begun a foray into biomed & life sciences which I find scary but also exciting and positive.
I love flowers, especially wildflowers and leaves and pressed herbs.
I love art. Performance art. Participatory art. Painting, doodling, graphic design, collage, though I'm not very skilled at collage.
There's little I don't love.
I'm in Graduate School lately. I'm not as active at Swap-bot as I used to be. I'm getting an MBA (an advanced degree in Business). I'd studied History as an undergrad, then Theology a long time ago. (like 20 yrs ago!)
Soon it looks like I'll be picking up more science courses too. And right now I'm drinking under the fire hose as they say, soaking up everything as fast as I can. My brain may turn to sudden mulch soon though! LOL
Rarely watch TV...
My husband loves tv so I watch some with him, like the Food Network, all the cooking shows. Yum.
Giada's Everyday Italian country comforting style is another favorite of mine. I love the environment she creates and the mood of her cooking show.
I also an avid Suze Orman fan (on personal investing) and found out she waitressed down the street here in Berkeley on College Ave for years and years become the Personal Finance guru she is now! I've been reading all her books and following her advice on getting my personal accounting and savings in order.
Knitting. Sadly, I barely have time for knitting these days. Last night I reorganized my stash though! The good news is I'm whittling it down it wasn't very big to begin with. Bought small blocks of cedar to keep the moths away. Sealed the hanks and skeins inside pretty tubs of clear plastic.
In general, I love receiving crafts and creative even graphic designs. Stickers, memo papers or pads. Always need a new pen or too. Vibrant colors are best! Kawaii, exotic stationery or non-traditional Crane brand stationery, which is what I tend to stock up on.
There are hardly any things I don't like. Hope this little summary helps!
The genres of music I listen to are wide and varied. I love all kinds of music there's almost nothing I don't like. For example, I like ambient, classical, jazz, electic, electronica, dub, dubstep, drum & bass, trip hop, hip hop, alternative rock, pop, spiritual, gospel, kirtan, the blues, soul, R&B, classic rock, grrl bands, to name a few genres.
