Paper Artist making my way in the world.
Primarily work in any form of paper projects--cutouts, collage, decoupage, journaling, envelopes, books/book arts, and handmade boxes.
For samples of my work, please visit my craft blog at www.nystarcards.blogspot.com
Holiday Music. I listen to Christmas music about nine months out of twelve. Also, country, contemporary Christian music--not overly religious but enjoy the message of CCM.
Mysteries, psychological thrillers, Agatha Christie, culinary mysteries, biographies/autobiographies and craft books.
I read Kindle books in order to save space in my Bronx apartment. I only buy hard copies of craft books.
Animation. I don't go to the theaters as often as I used to. I don't watch movies on the television.
If you are looking for something to send, please send me a blank postcard. I collect postcards and send them out via Swap-bot or Postcrossing. I enjoy all postcards but really, really appreciate local rural postcards from your area. I will always be able to use any postcards.
The following is copied from my postcrossing profile:
LIKES: food, animals, cards about your city/country, cards about culture, cards showing your holiday celebrations especially Christmas/winter holidays/Halloween, cards showing weather especially snow, nature scenes, funny postcards, art postcards highlighting an artist from your city/country, celebrity postcards (TV, movies, entertainers, dancers, composers, etc.)
DISLIKES: business sponsored post cards, free postcards, vulgar/sexual postcards.
I hope this helps but any thoughtful addition or items from the ideas below are appreciated.
Anything paper. Anything paper. Anything paper and holiday. All holidays--even the minor, nonsense holidays.
Anything Japanese--including Japanese paper, crafts, and gift wrapping.
Starting to get into adult coloring books, doodling, and zentangles.
Hot/Sun colors are my favorites--oranges, reds, and yellows.
I do like some of the winter colors--blues, wine/burgundy/cranberry.
Not a big fan of pastels.
I have a three quarter body suit of tattoos--covered from shoulders to knees (front and back) with artistic tattoos.
If you are offended by Japanese style tattoos, please do not follow. My tattoos do not define me but are a part of who I am.
While I love living in the United States and I am very proud to live here, I love the country of Japan and its people. I lived in Japan for 10 years while I was in the military. I visit there once or twice per year. I am obsessed with anything Japanese--including Japanese crafts and gift wrapping.
Since several of the groups/swaps I have joined are associated with postcards, I have decided to add this section. I will accept any postcard of any size. I prefer handmade to store bought if there is no designation but will accept them all. I do prefer to receive postcards without an envelope (naked).
I usually send handmade postcards if given the choice or if it is unspecified. If you have a preference, please list it in your profile. I always send my postcards naked because I don't want to deprive anyone of the joy of seeing a handmade postcard. Once again, let me know if you have a preference. Finally, I always work in two sizes: either 4 by 6 in or 5 by 7. I will mix the orientation (portrait or landscape) depending on the composition.
In conclusion, if you have preferences please let me know by contacting me or stating them in your profile. I ALWAYS read a profile before making a project because I really do want to give you something you want to keep.
