I am a girly girl with three boys, a superman and a hopeless collector of all things pretty and pink. By trade I am a Vintage China Mosaic Artist and owner of Mosaic Chick Design. I create beautiful mosaic furniture and whimsical wares for romantic, shabby homes out of my PA studio.~~
I love making art...whether it is drawing with my children, creating a beautiful mosaic to sell, or teaching mosaics to children and adults through my art classes, ART is a part of my every day life. Taking the big step to leave the corporate world and start my own business was scary but in the end was the best decision of my life. It has allowed me to stay home and raise my three sweet boys and at the same time to continue to contribute to our families well being. It also gives me the luxury of pursuing other art forms where I can incorporate found objects into mix media form.
Right now I am into:
ATC's, embroidery, altered tins, altered crowns, and dotee dolls, altered shrines, matchbooks, altered bingo cards, mixed media art...it’s endless and I feel like I finding new things to try every day.
My mother introduced me to art at a very young age. From knitting to crocheting to drawing and painting, she made sure we were exposed to art early. We visited museums on our outings and toured artist studios she would find tucked away as we traveled the coast highway in No. Calif during our summer vacations. I think that is where my first love of being an artist started...in those studio’s watching a potter pull a bowl from a chunk of clay or the glass maker blowing a vase. They all fascinated me and I so wanted to be a clay artist that when I was ten my parents bought me my own wheel, which I still have today. I made my first hand sewn doll dress at the age of 6. I can remember sitting on the back porch slowly sewing the seams together. All my school project were made by hand, under her supervision. She taught me to draw free hand, which something I still use today. She was an incredible artist and seamstress and I am blessed that she passed down her artistic love to me.
My favorite color is pink...when I was growing up my room had pink walls with pink shag carpeting (ohh..that dates me doesn't it!). My first apartment had a pink couch!...Luckily for my husband my tastes in colored furniture has evolved and become rather sophisticated, although I think all rooms need a little pink and a little black.
But in the end, I am a PINK girl.
Here are some colors that excited me:
~soft pinks,
~soft blue greens
~robins egg blue/aqua or soft blues.
I like things that are pretty...vintage, shabby, chippy, girly are some of my favorite ebay search tags! Oh, and I am so NOT into grunge.
Here are some things that keep me happy:
~Coffee(warning! don't even talk to me until I've had my first morning cup)
~Vintage dress forms
~Vintage China (that's is obvious)
~Anything pink...well not everything...there are some things I've seen in pink that make me want to puke...especially neon pink!
~Old Photo's as in old Cabinet Cards with children or old photo's from 1940's prior.
~Vintage Rhinestone Jewelry (love it)
~Old sheet music (great for making wings and boarders and layering in collages)
~Vintage buttons (I have a jar of buttons from my childhood that belonged to my mother...just touching them takes me back to those wonderful days watching her sew while I sort them on her big canopy bed)(((smiles)))
~Handmade art~especially made by childrens hands. If you made it by hand, then I'll love it. (I love art that is NOT computer generated. Yeah photoshop is great but I would rather you paint me a "so so" picture then print me something "perfect" off a computer)
~Pretty Papers in soft colors
~Seed Beads (my newest obsession
~Speciality Pens from other countries...and I'm not talking about "bic's" here either.
~Zoo Animals or Safari Animals
~Clowns
~Colors: Primary, especially red, orange, purple...hate mauve (Don't panic...if I've signed up for a swap that has these color in it, I'll be expecting to receive items in these colors)
~earth tones or browns-unless they are paired with pink or aqua.
~Smelly Candles especially Vanilla scented
~Popurri~gives me migraines!
~Political Themed Art
~Dollar Store items
~Food Items...unless this is a specific item to be sent in a swap that I signed up for, I would rather not receive anything food related.
~post-it's...I have more then I can use in my lifetime right now!
I promise to rate you as soon as possible after receiving your swap.
If you haven't received my swap items please email me A.S.A.P., as I always purchase "delivery confirmation" from the post office for packages mailed in the USA...hey, have to CYA.
International packages are at the mercy of your postal system. But in the event that they are lost or damage I WILL create new one for you immediately.
~Those who do not rate fairly ~you are not rating the art but whether the item you received met the swap requirements (size/color/ect). I have received many things that are made poorly or with little effort but have given a "5" because it met of the swap requirements and that is what swap-bot rating rules state!
~Those who do not give hearts when rating... come on...give a heart! IF YOUR PARTNER SENDS YOU EXTRA'S...GIVE A HEART!
