About Me

NOTE: My computer is currently on the fritz, so if I don't get around to rating you or marking something as "sent" on time, I apologize! I'm making due with my computer when it decides to work, but I probably won't have any sort of regularity for another week or so. I promise you'll get your swaps from me when you're supposed to or that you'll get rated in the near future! Thanks for your understanding!

I just graduated college with two degrees (psychology and English), so I'm bumming around for a year before I go to graduate school (for the psychology) and sell my soul again for another 7 or so years. I'm a guitarist, pianist, flutist, film lover, voracious reader, singer, poet, writer, and aspiring novelist. I love foreign languages, even if I can't speak or read them... especially the look of written Arabic. I'm an open-minded seeker of Christ, but please don't lump me in with the Bible-pounding, hate-toting types. I'm pretty easy to please and a generally easygoing person with an eclectic set of interests. Surprise me!

Favorite Crafts

I'm very much a wearable crafts person. I've been making a bunch of my own jewelry and dabbling in clothing for quite some time. I have very fair skin and dark hair, so if you're sending something to be worn, I love darker colours (blacks, blues, greens, purples), but I'm a big fan of bright accents and makeups.

I love yarn and string, but I only crochet as of right now. I haven't learned how to knit yet, but that's hopefully going to be one of my new aims.

I love beads! Beads and buttons and charms - they all make my heart sing. I prefer heavier materials like glass or silver, but I don't discriminate.

I just started doing ATCs, and - dear heavens - they're some of the most addicting things ever. I especially love the ones with interesting found items.

Above everything, though, I'm a writer, so I love pens and notebooks and notecards and notecard boxes and everything in their neighborhood.

Favorite Music

I love anything with a catchy beat and some good, strong vocals. I'm not a terribly big fan of rap or country, but there are isolated incidents of both that I enjoy. I'm definitely a rock/punk/techno girl, but I'm still true to the good old stuff from the '50s, '60s, and '70s.

Here are some favorites:
Motion City Soundtrack
Mindless Self-Indulgence
Modest Mouse
Daft Punk
Maroon 5
My Chemical Romance
Dirty Vegas
Panic! at the Disco (old stuff, especially)
The Killers
The Horrorpops
Franz Ferdinand

Favorite Movies

Okay, so horror, musicals, thrillers (especially psychological ones), social commentaries, and intelligent comedies (as in, the ones that rarely stoop to slapstick comedy). Oh, and zombie movies are always winners with me.

Here are some favorites:
Pan's Labyrinth
The Labyrinth
Wristcutters: A Love Story
Donnie Darko
The Emperor's New Groove
The Silence of the Lambs
The Nightmare Before Christmas
V for Vendetta
Sleeping Beauty
Shaun of the Dead
The Dark Knight

Favorite Television

I like cop dramas, medical shows (but not the gory stuff), comedies without laugh tracks, old Adult Swim cartoons, anime, and Joss Whedon.

Here are some favorites:
The Unusuals
Pushing Daisies
Arrested Development
The Closer
Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
Sealab 2021
Robot Chicken
The Venture Bros.
Law & Order
Elfen Lied
Aquateen Hungerforce

Favorite Books

Reading was my first love and probably always will be. I started off with L. Frank Baum's "Oz" series and continued for a long time down the fantasy realm. Its cousin, sci-fi, wasn't long in following. I'm not really a non-fiction person, though Chuck Palahniuk's "Stranger than Fiction" was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

Here are some favorites:
The Abhorsen Chronicles (Garth Nix)
The Ragwitch (Garth Nix)
Shade's Children (Garth Nix)
The Oz Series (L. Frank Baum)
Queen Zixi of Ix (L. Frank Baum)
The Earthsea Chronicles (Ursula K. LeGuin)
The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoyevsky)
Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoyevsky)
Invisible Monsters (Chuck Palahniuk)
Haunted (Chuck Palahniuk)
Diary (Chuck Palahniuk)
The Screwtape Letters (C. S. Lewis)
The Space Trilogy (C. S. Lewis)
The Chronicles of Narnia (C. S. Lewis)
The Great Divorce (C. S. Lewis)
The Hobbit (J. R. R. Tolkien)
The Irresistible Revolution
Blue Like Jazz
On Fortune's Wheel
Time Cat
Coyote Blue

Here are some favorites:
World of Warcraft (PC)
The World Ends With You (Nintendo DS)
Trauma Center (Wii)
Trauma Center: New Blood (Wii)
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GameBoy Advance)

Sweet! I love Chuck Palahniuk! I'm actually going to read that one when my roommate is done. I'm going to borrow hers. I don't want to rush her or anything since it's her book, but she is lagging. Boo her! Anyways, I'm looking forward for the swap to come in! I love Zombies!!! Bye! ^v^
