I am married, (As of Nov. 23, 2008, my husband died) so I guess I am not married anymore.I'm a 55 year old widow. I have 2 grown girls, and 3 grandbabies, one not so little. HA HA.. My hubby was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer Dec. 29th, and so I am always at the doctor's office, chemo, etc. So postcards is my outlet to just have fun. I like to cook and read.
I am a professional eater, and love all kinds of recipes. HA HA
As to my likes in books, I like Danielle Steel, Barbara Delinsky, Janet Evanovitch (have read every one), Debbie Macomber. More on the romance, although I do like cookbooks and some biographies.
My favorite movies are "While you were sleeping", "Pretty Women", "The Ten Commandments", and more, I just can't think. HA HA...
My favorite color I guess would be red. Not really picky about color
I am an animal lover and especially dogs. I have a beagle, and have had boxers, and poodles, and mutts. I love penguins, loons, and just about anything that won't bite me. HA HA. I like butterflies,
My dream is to go to Alaska. I am fascinated with it. Out of the country, I would have to say it would be Russia, Prague, Budapest, that area.. I have no idea what I'm doing in Florida. HA HA
I collect postcards, recipes, and dust. HA HA HA..
I also participate in Hugs and Hope where I send cards every month to sick children, and when money permits I also send little gifts.
I have a friend whose daughter just went into the military, so I have been gathering things to send to her, and am sending something to her every week, whether it's a letter, a card, etc. We have never met. I "met" her mom on a recipe group about 5 years ago.
I like to do things for people that they don't expect. I get a lot of joy out of that.
I also enjoy jokes and have a good sense of humor. Always up to something.
Anything else you want to know, just ask. I'm an open book, and will share what I can.
my favorite T.V shows are
Desperate Housewifes
The Food Channel
2 1/2 Men
Brothers and Sisters
And lots more.
I have given you two ways to get to my blog. The first should take you directly there, and the second is in case the first doesn't work. HA HA.
If neither of these work, please let me know.

My blog is mainly about my husband and his Cancer. He was diagnosed on December 29, 2006. Not even a year ago. I started a Hat Campaign for him, and this about it and the hats he has worn. Some baseball cap types and some Wacky. He has gotten them from all over the world. Hope you enjoy my blog. It is not sad, as we celebrate each day he is here, and try not to think of the time when he won't be.
I am making a list of things I want to do and learn. I figure instead of the 100 things list, since I'm over 50, just by 4 years. haha, I would make it a list of 50.
A few of those that have to do with crafts is
Learn to make an ATC - learning Learn to knit Learn to quilt Learn to scrapbook - learning Learn to make cards - learning
I can sort of crochet, well the ripple stitch anyway. I have made a few afghans with that stitch.
I love trying my hand at ATC's. I am not artistic but I love to try.
I like lace, buttons, ATC products, stamps, stamp pads, ATC paper, and all kinds of things to get me going.
I have just started scrapbooking and making cards and LOVE it..
I am not a picky person and appreciate just about everything.

I've been thinking about you and holding you in my thoughts. I hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend! oxo love, Laura
It sounds like you've had a pretty full plate to deal with lately, but I really like the outlook you take on things like your husband's cancer. In my experience, the best thing one can do is accept the known facts as they are, try to come to peace with it, and make the most of and be thankful for whatever is good in life. :-)
On that note, I have a good recipe I just tried out today that I thought worked out quite well:
http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=459415
They're called St. Hildegard's Cookies of Joy. Apparently the recipe was created by St. Hildegard over 900 years ago, and she suggested eating them at regular intervals to increase joy and positivity. Not that you need help with that, but they are delicious nonetheless.
Do note, I added about an extra half cup of flour (low elevation or such, I guess, things always need extra flour in this region), used parchment paper instead of the grease thing, and used a cookie press, though I didn't actually time a single batch I made, lol. I kept them at the same temp though and they turned out quite nicely, if I may say so. Also I've had them with chopped almonds and malted flour -- that batch is what motivated me to find the recipe. :-)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the cookies if you make them, and that you get to see Alaska someday! Take care, and thanks for participating in my swap!
