About Me

Hi, I'm from Minnesota now living in Mississippi. Married, 2 boys ages 6 and 8, a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. I homeschool them, am currently putting up and using a high tunnel house (in-ground grren house without electric) and help work in farm/horses/whatever with my husband when he is home from his main job of fireman. Myself, I was raised up on a dairy farm, traveled to quite a few places, seen the city and prefer the country for living. Just a plain country farm kid at heart with wide-open broad range of taste. Love mixed-media, art dolls, handmade books and art journals, zines! Lacto-ovo vegetarian (I use eggs and dairy), not using caffiene or alcohol. I don't wear jewelry but sometimes make it. Love crafts/art of all kinds as long it is not evil-looking, xrated, or nude (my kids see every thing that comes in the door). I do not knit or crochet (I don't know how!). I sometimes sell my art but mostly love to swap.I was raised on a farm in the Big NorthWoods of Minnesota, so I love anything to do with wolves, bears, eagles, deer, raccoons, Pine trees! anything like that- and western/ranch related. Love mountains and the ocean- Maine is a beautiful country all its own. I really love the beauty of a working boat- tugs, sailing, fishing, lobster, etc. and I also love lighthouses. And french country/chickens! I like anything to do with farm or related, chickens, homestead type things, and we do our own canning etc. I enjoy handmade post cards, handmade books/journals/sketchbooks, ATC's, bookmarks, art dolls, aprons, quilt blocks, mini quilts, anything handmade. I am a member of several yahoo groups with whom I trade fiber and paper art. I love anything to do with Nature, retro-style, Northwoods, and especially Native American art. If something is handmade or thought and care is put into it I like it. I love green, but anything is alright with me, I'm not picky. Only one rule- please no subject nudity (erotica), no dark evil/gruesome/ death, foul language, negative. Anything outside of that is great. I enjoy learning any new art form and seeing art from other's perspectives. I love mixed media, book making, and am learning about assemblage.

Favorite Music

classic Country/old Western, (I love the old ballads- Cowboy in a Continental Suit, etc. if it makes you think of an old Western, that's it!), bluegrass, classical, tribal (Native American mostly). Andre Boccelli! Sarah McGlaughlin, Scottish bagpipes, Celtic singing and music. I do like some gospel that doesn't have a fast beat (if it is a ballad style, gospel or country, I will like it), Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Marty Robbins, John Denver, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, oldies (50's, 60's, 70's Elvis, etc.), a bit of Santana, and alot of things.

Favorite Books/Magazines

I love the sketching and anything by Cathy Johnson, Anything CLothPaperScissors, Stitch, Quilting Arts magazine, Create & Decorate, or that style, and of course ANYTHING Stampington and Company/Somerset Style etc. Anything to learn from: how-to gardening, homestead-style, Cookbooks! Does not have to be vegetarian! especially compilations/like a school cookbook, church's cookbook, etc. I am trying to learn more about book making, etc. so anything on creative/art journaling bookmaking, zines etc, even just a printed out instruction sheet, I would love any ideas!

how-to art of any kind, anything about ATC's, zines, painting, pen-ink-watercolor, mixed media, quilting, art quilts, etc. any thing to do with fiber arts and carving/ leather work. I do not knit or crochet. I do like Debbie Macomber.

Anything by Baxter Black and any kind of old country or cowboy poetry, I love it.

Favorite Movies

Last of the Mohicans(the tv clean version), Open Range, True Grit (the original) . Any John Wayne and clean(pg-13 and cleaner) westerns. Clean comedy. Clean nature documenteries. Any art- how to dvd's.

Favorite Television

Mash. RFD-TV. Quilt in a day. Anything on how to in art, quilting, woodworking, gardening. And all of the Law&order. NCIS, Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch, Swamp Loggers, Ax Men etc. Tom & Jerry, etc

Favorite Crafts

ATC's, Zines, fabric postcards, mini quilts, quilt blocks, aprons, hand made post cards, quilties, dotee dolls, art dolls, handmade books, fiber arts, quilting, painting (acrylic, oil, gouche, watercolor), handmade books/journals, inchies, leatherwork, handmade bags, etc. I don't wear jewelry but I do make it. If something is handmade with thought and care no matter the level of experience of the artist I will like it. I appreciate each person's unique artistic vision- my only rule- I have young children- No nudity/erotica, or dark-as in evil- items please. Edgy is fine, and Anything else goes.

dislikes

nudity, foul language, suggestive things, dark-evil looking things. Edgy is fine, I am not all sunshine and roses, just protective of my kids' minds at this young age is all. Halloween is a no in my house except for pumkins bats and "cute" type things.

Just a note.....

just so you know, -I am Christian, I will be thoughtful and respectful to your ways and ideas. We are all creative and unique and that is what makes the world so fascinating...
