As for the felt ~ it is just a small piece somewhere on you rug. I don't think it will be a problem to wash. I read ~

How to wash your felt ~

There are many different opinions on how to wash felt. You have only two options in this matter. You can hand wash it or you can machine wash it. There are pros and cons to both methods. Here is a list of several different ways in which you can wash felt, and then you can choose how you want to do it.

Machine Washing

Set your washing machine to cold on the gentle cycle; add a softening fabric cleanser such as the hypo allergenic brands. You are only going to want enough water to cover the felt completely. Too much water will give it an opportunity to get distorted. Before place the felt into the machine, add a little fabric softener to the water, yes I said fabric softener, directly to the water in the machine before you turn the machine on. Once you have let it run through its cycle, you can then lay the fabric out on a surface that has been cleaned in advance. Let it air dry, rushing it by throwing it into the dryer will distort your fabric.

Cleaning felt can sometimes be easier than you might think. You can wash it with a load of already prepared clothes as long as you use only cold water. You may actually have to shave the felt when you are done, but it is a quicker method for those who do not have time to be particular.

Hand Washing

The safest way to wash your felt fabric is by hand washing it. Start by letting it soak in a mild mixture of cold water and detergent. You can even use a dab of lemon juice for smell and stain purposes. Again, it is VERY important that you do not use hot water. It will shrink. Once you have let it soak for a few minutes, use your fingers to massage the fabric. Once you have finished kneading the fabric for a few minutes, wring it out gently and lay it out on a clean surface, on top of a towel.

This method seems to be popular; however it will ruin your fabric if not done perfectly. Use a soft bristled brush and rub it gently after soaking the same as the above mentioned way. Again, if you have any major stains, it is a good idea to put in a little lemon juice with the soaking solution. When using the brush, make sure you are extremely gentle. If you brush it too hard you will pull up some of the material.

Cleaning felt is a sketchy business. Any of the above mentioned ways can ruin your felt fabric if not done carefully. Felt is a very sensitive material. The best thing to do is get it dry cleaned, but when that option is unavailable, these options will work with very safe use. The important thing to keep in mind is that if you use hot water, you will ruin it by shrinking it. If you use the regular cycle in the washing machine rather than gentle cycle, you will distort the fabric. So long as you are gentle and safe, your fabric can last forever.
