Swap categories: Books  Childrens Items
Number of people in swap:4
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:June 30, 2008
Date items must be sent by:July 14, 2008
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

For this swap we will send our partner (well, their child) one paperback chapter book and one bookmark or package of bookplates appropriate for the age and gender of the child they list below in the comments.

The book should be either new or nearly new condition. This means it is ok if it has been read once and has slightly "soft corners" or slight creases on the spine, but it should not have any writing anywhere in or on the book, any tears, dogeared pages or in any other way look junky. You know what I mean.

In the comment section, participants must list the age and gender of the child to receive the book and bookmark or bookplates, and some general likes and interests, or dislikes. No specific title or series requests however, although it's OK to list series that they have enjoyed as examples only.

An example would be:

My daughter is 11 and enjoys historical fiction, light mysteries, funny books, light fantasy, etc. She would not enjoy very heavy/dark fantasy, or teenagerish "catty girl" books.

An example of what not to list would be: Please only send Magic Tree House books #s 27-39, obscure manga, or books about ponies in eighteenth century Russia;P

So, that's: 1 paperback chapter book in very good condition and 1 storebought or nice "craft fair quality" if handmade bookmark (something others would pay for at a craft fair- not a colored piece of cardstock with stickers on it) or package of bookplates appropriate for the age and gender of your partner's child

This swap is open to all members of the group, so that makes it International Although it is open to all members, I reserve the right as host to go through participants when the swap closes to check for recent poor swapmanship, and will ban accordingly. Also, I know it is always exciting to get partners asap, but please allow me up to 48 hours (max) after the swap closes to check profiles, and resolve any questions. It probably will not take that long, but just in case.

One last note, participants must post their child's info in the comment section. If you have not done that by the time the swap closes, you will be dropped.

Thanks in advance to everyone who participates!:)

OK, my daughter is 11, and some things she has enjoyed in the past are: historical fiction (ex: American Girl or Little House), light fantasy (ex: Narnia, Spiderwick, Harry Potter), funny books (ex: Amber Brown, Ramona Quimby), She has also enjoyed things like Unfortunate Events, but I don't know what "genre" those fit into. Please no heavy/dark fantasy(Phillip Pullman comes to mind) or catty "mean girl" teenagerish books. She's a "young" 11, still into the more "innocent" things (hoping to keep it that way a little longer at least, haha;)

Ok, I have two girls who like very similar books because they are pretty close in age. They like mysteries, spooky/haunted house/scary books, funny stories, fantasy

I forgot to ask, I do alot of crafts and make book marks. Could I make some or do they have to be store bought? I haven't bought cards or bookmarks in years from a store because I make them. LOL

ambritsmom- I originally put "storebought" just because I figured the crafting abilities of the children would vary, and didn't want anyone being disappointed with receiving a piece of cardstock with stickers on it as a bookmark. Since so far you are the only other person who has signed up, I will edit it to say "craft fair quality" bookmark, so, iow, if it's nice enough to be sold at a craft fair, it's ok:)

Thanks TeaNi. I am taking my kids with me to go shopping for the book, so they might just want to pick out a bookmark.
