Description:

Last year the Advent Tea calendar was my very favorite swap. Poofsizzle is no longer with us, so I want to be sure the tradition will continue. This is a big swap, not really in price (tea is realtively cheap), but in concept and effort. The idea is to create some kind of advent calendar gift with one cup of tea for each day. Make sure you go to your partners profile or below in the comment section to determine what kind of teas you should be putting together.

Ideally it should be a different kind of tea for each day, but I realize that may be a bit unrealistic for most people. So I am going to say - bare minimum there have to be 8 different kinds/brands of tea and no more than 3 of the same kind/brand of tea bag overall. If your partner really likes Earl Grey, say, then feel free to send different brands of Earl Grey - but variety is important! Feel free to subsititue loose tea if that suits your buddy's taste. If you want to do more than one bag a day and spoil the other person, I encourage you to. It is the season of giving afterall...

Each tea bag should be concealed in some creative way (whether wrapped, behind a door, etc) and labeled so that it can be opened on the appropriate day. It should be really fun for your partner. Add small inspirational notes and small surprises for hearts, as well. In addition you should include one nicer gift to be opened on Christmas Day.(Christmas tea cup, tea cozy, a set of tea towels, tea ornament, profile surprise etc.) If you do NOT want a hand made item you should let us know below.

I am going to put two weeks between the end of the swap and the start of December. Please make sure that you get things out on time for this swap. (I really want to make sure that everyone has the best chance possible of having their package in hand on December 1st.) I'd also love to see everyone submit pictures of what they received.

You must have 4.9 rating to join. If you have 1's I also require an email/pm explaining the situation and indication that you have communicated with the person who rated you to rectify the situation. If you would be willing to angel this swap with me, please contact me - hope we won't need it, but it's best to be prepared!

The group has voted to open this swap to international swappers.

I love orange spiced teas, chai, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, and good ole Lipton. I also love lemon and honey. I always love to try new teas, but am highly allergic to chamomile!!! I also love good quality chocolate. For more, see my profile.

Hi, I would soooo love an International swap like this one:)

zigg13pra 09/ 5/2008 #

I had so wanted to do this last year and it's good to see it's back!

Lunaria 09/ 5/2008 #

I love loose tea, chai, green tea, and scented teas like Earl Grey, jasmine, rose, and I collect teabags, so anything that's not common in grocery stores would be great.

I don't celebrate Christmas because I'm Jewish, so please no Christmas themed stuff, but my birthday is Dec 21, so a 21 day calendar would be great!

niecedenise 09/ 5/2008 #

So let me get this corrct. A teabag or equivelent and a dollar surprise for each day.

kaypendragon 09/ 6/2008 #

This is so Awesome! My likes/dislikes are on my profile but to recap I like plain blacks and herbals. I don't much like Fruit flavored black teas or licorice.

zigg13pra 09/ 6/2008 #

Do the 'small surprise' for each day need to be bought or can they be handmade?

its4donna 09/ 7/2008 #

I really like the idea of an Advent Tea Calendar! I wonder, though.... could you give some suggestions of $1 items that would fit in a little pocket with a teabag? Personally, I would just prefer 24 pockets with teabags and a nice gift for day 25. Still thinking about joining this one, though...

kgeslab 09/ 7/2008 #

The small suprise could be handmade. Let's take a vote, though. How many would just like a tea each day and a nicer suprise at the end? If your partner is not a "Christmas" person, you could do a winter theme, birthday theme, or whatever they celebrate theme.

kgeslab 09/ 7/2008 #

And I'm all into anything that is nicely hand made!

beaglemom 09/ 7/2008 #

I can go either way - last year I think I did a tea bag and about twice a week I added something special - like a tea strainer, honey sticks, extra tea bags, some rock sugar, a small item from my partner's profile, etc...

I am not really fond of green tea, but anything else is fine with me. I love loose tea or bags. I have stuff on my profile.

its4donna 09/ 7/2008 #

I vote for just tea each day and a nice surprise at the end!

I like black teas (flavored or not), and occasional herbals. I'm not particularly fond of green teas or chai though if my partner would really like to include a favorite one, I'd be willing to try it!

zigg13pra 09/ 7/2008 #

Yeah I like the just tea every day and a nice surprise at the end (although of course random surprises throughout are always fun too and is a good way to try for hearts).
Also, does the nice gift need to be tea themed?

niecedenise 09/ 7/2008 #

Tea each day and a nice surprise at the end for me!

kgeslab 09/ 8/2008 #

I have edited the swap to reflect a tea each day and nice surprise at the end. It should be profile based or tea themed. Thanks for all your imput!!!

kgeslab 09/ 9/2008 #

I mostly enjoy black tea and I'm open to loose or bags as long as they are packed so as not to pick up flavor. I also love orange spice and Chai. I am highly allerginc to chamomile, so no herbals, please unless they are clearly labled.

starrycat 09/ 9/2008 #

I am so excited to see this swap is back again this year! I didn't get to participate last year, but I really wanted too....lol.

For me, loose or pkged tea is fine, I'm not picky in that regard....lol. What I like best is Chai, greens, whites, reds, and black teas....I don't particularly care for herbal tea, and I abhor Bigelowe brand tea.....so please, none of that brand...lol....besides that, I haven't came across any other brands that I dislike. I am not a huge fan of Earl Grey.....and I love foreign/uncommon teas. And if my partner would want to include some extras...I would love some rock sugar....it makes the best chai...lol. And according to my family and friends, I have the largest tea selection they've ever seen...I can probably do a different tea for every day....lol. And check out my profile for more info!

rebeccaljames 09/10/2008 #

I am not picky so any kind of tea is fine with me.

Margrethe 09/10/2008 #

Is there any possibility to let this one be international? I joined it last year and loved it so much!

kaypendragon 09/12/2008 #

I vote for just tea everyday and a surprise at the end. I'm ok with international, if others are.

littleangel 09/14/2008 #

This is so great:)I just love Tea! I like loose or teabags, that s fine.Black flavored ones would be really really great:)i also like herbal teas sometimes.

EarlandMooch 09/20/2008 #

Oh I absolutely love this idea. I will be willing to angel as well.

Gracelovescoffee 10/ 3/2008 #

Hey I figure i should say what i like... this is a GREAT idea! I'm so excited!

I like tea... straight green tea is probably at the bottom of my favorites.. but i still like it.. i love interesting combinations.. like a green earl grey tea... or licorice and mint... anything slightly out of the ordinary not run of the mill.. It's all about the experience of trying something new! Rooibis and peppermint are my two favorites... i enjoy loose tea or bagged tea... I just love tea :)

Aimeejanie 10/ 5/2008 #

Any tea is fine~ Chai and plain green tea are faves. I also love any sort of herbal tea... Just not black. I will be sharing with my son, Devon~ I can't wait!!
