About Me

I'm a 5th grade science teacher. I have a husband, 3 great kids, 28, 25 and 17. I also have two beautiful grandchildren. I love music, reading, and seeing new things. I'm Christian, but open to many religious views. I don't mind used stuff if it is still useable and not dirty or smelly.

Favorite Television

Shows I watch: I love Grey's Anatomy, Victoria, Downton Abby, Law and Order, The Crown, American Horror Story, The Good Doctor, Suits and Cooking competition shows. I also love reruns of Little House on the Prairie and the the Waltons.

Favorite Crafts

I have practiced Zentangle and Zendoodles. Fun and relaxing!

I like to make stuffed journals and long term journal projects.

I knit and quilt as well. I usually have 4-8 projects going at a time.

Just discovered my love of wool felt applique.

These are a Few of my Favorite

I love:

My Green Quaker Parrot, Pickle!

black Teas including fruit flavors, chai and plain. Lipton specialty teas are fine with me. I am highly allergic to chamomile which hides in herbal teas, so I will never drink an herbal . . . just in case.

Reading,

Nice embellishment threads (not DMC, but wool or cotton thicker stuff)

Scraps or pieces of wool felt (bright colors)

I love historical fiction - Esp. English history.

Wild birds are a love of mine. I also love butterflies, garden themes, flowers, heck any nature.

YELLOW

malas or any types of prayer beads- all faiths.

Sock knitting, shawl knitting, knitting. I'd really love some hand-made stitch markers in all sizes to use with my knitting. Beaded or cute charms would be fun.

Charlie Brown and company

anything with your art - not just stickers, but real art.

Zentangle Art

Faith vs Religion

I am a Christian, but I recently have been exploring (not practicing) other world religions. I love anything from any faith. To me Faith is different than religion. And faith is personal. So, while some of my art may express religion or my faith, I am open to accepting you for what you believe. Only through knowledge and understanding of each other can we live in peace and harmony. Two quotes from Buddha express my opinion perfectly:

  1. To force oneself to believe and to accept a thing without understanding is political, and not spiritual or intellectual.

  2. Let all listen and be willing to listen to the doctrines professed by others.

What I don't like

Hello Kitty

Cartoon stuff

postcards unless they are part of the swap or are hand made - I don't collect them.

coffee or coffee flavor

Non- black teas - I'm highly allergic to chamomile and often it is hidden in Herbal teas.

Cigarette smells

Things I'd love to receive

Hand made toys for my pet bird

Fun socks - holiday or any "theme" to wear to school - kids love funny socks!

Pieces of brightly colored (or any colored) WOOL felt - 100% wool please.

Stickers for journaling - esp. themed and holiday.

Anything else to use for journaling or zentangling

anything knitting related.

Comment: Hello Mary Ellen, thanks - got the journal today! Boy, sure was dissappointed to see so many people drop from the swap, especially since we all ended up with sooooo much time to work on them. Gotta say you left me hanging! .???? About your house search and selling. Hope everything didn't fall through because of this virus thing. Thanks for the journal and teas.

CSG ~ Fruit of the Spirit, #6 Faithfulness

Faithfulness

as defined in the bible has two different meanings:

1.If we mean the faithfulness of God or Jesus, it refers to steadfastness, honesty, firmness, and God's utter dependability based on His unchanging character.

2.If we mean human faithfulness, it refers to our steady allegiance to God and our trust in Him. A "faithful" man is "full of faith"; he believes in the reality of God as revealed in Scripture.

Dictionary definition of faithfulness: 1.The quality of being faithful. 2.Fidelity.

The dictionary definition of faithfulness is totally different than the bible definition. This must be taken into account when reading and understanding our bible.

What does faithfulness mean to me?

To be truly faithful to God we must love God more than we love our self. We must also be lovers of God not lovers of pleasure. We must be more interested in pleasing God than pleasing our self. A faithful person is not disobedient, greedy, unloving and without self-control.

Having faith in God is truly one of the most important things to have to be a good Christian. If you don't have faith then there is not much to say about you. You need to believe in Him and trust in Him. When you are in times of trouble you need to have faith that He will pull you through your difficult times. I believe that times of hardship make us stronger because they make our faith stronger.

There was a time that I was very ill with Listeria in the hospital. This was many years ago. Listeria is a deadly disease that most people die from. At the time I didn't believe in God or Jesus. I had absolutely no faith. However, my husband had two churches praying for me. I had a fever of 106 degrees. The nurses told my husband that he should come because they didn't know if I would make it through the night. He couldn't come however because he had the baby and we didn't have a baby sitter at the time. He called both churches to pray for me even though I wasn't a believer at the time. My fever broke in 24 hours. Even the hospital couldn't believe it. That was my miraculous healing and I believe that is when God planted a seed in me and that is when my true faith began because He proved to me that He was real.

The faithfulness of a Christian:

1.God wants you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good.

2.Honor all people.

3.Love your fellow Christians.

4.Fear God and honor the King.

5.If you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God.

6.We are to look to the Lord Jesus as our model of the faith life. We should be faithful and live a good life.

Faith is basically believing in something that you cannot see, having a belief in something that there is no proof of. You believe it's true even though there is no proof of it. It is very difficult to have faith. Lots of things in life do test your faith. But once you have it, it's something strong and powerful. For much of my life I didn't believe in God or Jesus because I couldn't see them, feel there or know that they were real. After my experience at the hospital and after I got saved, things changed dramatically for me. I didn't think life would change after I got saved, but it sure did.

Well that's all I have to say for this time. I hope you were encouraged by my comments. I pray that your life is filled with much faith and it makes your walk with God grow much stronger.

God Bless You!

Blessings,

Yvonne

Thank you so much for the sparkly snowman Christmas card and book reading list from my December Wishlist! So sorry for my late thankyou, we went out of town on Christmas day for a week and I am getting to catch up now on my desk. I loved displaying all of the sparkly cards, I hung up a wide candy striped ribbon and used clothespins to clip all of the cards down the length of it. I loved how it looked and I don't want to take it down. I have read a couple of the books you mentioned on your list, and will look into the others. I am hoping to find some time in 2017 to actually read again, its been a long time.
