EDIT 8/16/2017: I asked for questions and I got them! ha! :) So I'm going to edit the swap to reflect the questions and concerns I received in the comments section as well as in PM's. If there is still something you are un-sure about, please ask! :)

I got this idea based on a swap hosted by @AmericanHeiress called 'shared journal experience' in the main forum, and a poem journal hosted by @draco It's a work in progress! While I LOVE the idea of the shared journal hosted by @AmericanHeriess it's USA only due to sending a journal, and it can get expensive, and they can get lost. I LOVE to get mail from other countries, share ideas and views, have that whole experience. That's the idea of this swap - Internationally share ideas with lower postage costs. For this swap we are not sending a journal book we are only sending pages that we can collect in a folder or binder.

This will be a journal swap, BUT we are only sending pages to each other, not the whole journal. It will keep down costs, keep the time between shorter, and you won't loose your journal! Sounds good, right? I hope so! You will be sending pages you write/type (you may fold them for a standard business sized envelope and mail them like you would a letter)

To keep postage costs down you may use the front and back of one sheet for your entries (see below). Hopefully, this will help everyone interested able to participate. (Thank you to @Star7Lily for filling me in more in the Australian postal system and rates - I hope this helps!) The idea is that you should be able to meet minimum requirements AND send for only one stamp to that country. I hope that makes sense.

You will have 2 weeks from sign up to send by. You may start your entries when you sign up, since this is not profile based.

You may type your entries or hand write them, but be sure they are standard computer page size, (8.5 x 11"/ A4) so they will fit in everyone's binder or folder. Please leave room on the left edge in case your partner wishes to 3-hold punch the page. :) Note: If you type, keep the margins small, and the font at least 10 point. If you are handwriting, you don't have to use lined paper, but be sure your lines are straight enough that it can easily be read. (TIP You can place a sheet of lined paper under the unlined paper and it will help you write straighter lines. My mom taught me that and I thought it was magic. haha!)

Entries should, of course be neat and clearly written or typed. You may decorate your pages if you wish, just be sure they are still about to be clearly read. :) If you choose to add pictures or items like ticket stubs (as a magpie!) you may do that, but pictures or items shouldn't take the place of your written entry. This is, after all, a written journal.

Edit!!>>For each round you will send 1 page (minimum): You can send longer entries if you wish, but the MINIMUM will be 1 full page, typed or handwritten.

(I have changed this from 3 pages to 1 page. The 1 page would be front and back, well filled out.) Part 1 will be a short biography of you, at least a half page or a paragraph (5 sentences is 1 paragraph), but it can be longer. More than just "my name is, my birthday is, I live here".

Part 2 will be a journal entry of your day, at least 1/2 page long, again whatever you wish to share. If you wish to take more, that is fine. Please date your entry, though!

Part 3 This entry should be a FULL page, and can be the back side of the pager containing the first 2 parts. This entry will be a journal prompt reply. Choose from these topics: (If you can't do a FULL page on any one topic, you may use 2 topics to make up the full page of journal entry).

Favorite holiday and how you celebrate it What values are most important to your family? Favorite childhood memory BEST book you've read so far in 2017 TV show/series or movie that you are most looking forward to Favorite cartoon character. Why? Do you know who 'introduced' you to the character? What is your favorite hobby? When did you start? Why did you join swap-bot?
Do you know any details about your family history? How did you learn the details?

VERY IMPORTANT There will hopefully be several rounds for this swap :) You need to include your swap-bot ID and the name of the swap & round number with the page(s) you send so you can be rated. You MAY make that note on the top right or left hand corner of page 1/side 1

You will send those 3 journal entries to your swap-bot partner. :) If you get all 3, you rate them a 5. :) Hearts, of course, are up to you. You can then collect the entries in your binder or folder and add to it with each round.

This swap will be International, and you will have 1 partner.

Swap Requirements You need a rating of 4.98 or higher, NO 1's or 3's since Feb 2017, and 5 type 2 swaps completed and rated. (If you do not meet these requirements, please message me and state your case.) I will angel this swap, but really, who wants to read a bunch of my answers. :) haha

This is to have FUN, share ideas, get some happy mail.
Please don't sign up if you can't follow through and send on time. In fact you can start on the entries when you sign up!!

Sound good? Any questions, concerns, comments? Please PM me (I don't see the comments as often as PM's, so it might take a while to get a reply.) I typically assign partners around 7 or 8 AM (EST) the morning following the sign up date. I almost always send out a group email after I have assigned partners, also, so you will know when to look for that.
Labor Day here in the USA is Sept 4th. That may slow down the mail some, so please keep that in mind as well

If you have any ideas for future journal prompts, please let me know! I'm just using random journal prompts from lists online.

Please specify mailing. Is of OK to mail business size envelope on just reg postage stamps?

damilola 08/15/2017 #

It is one side or both sides of the paper for each entry? Can the back be the other entry, so that you send 2 pages?

Thanks, everyone, for the questions and comments, both here and through PM. I have edited the swap to reflect those questions and concerns, so please re-read the description to see if I've covered everything. I'm trying to keep the postage costs down for everyone, so this can truly be an INTERNATIONAL swap. :) I know postage can be a big factor (that's why I don't send postcards 'naked' Internationally!), and I'm hoping my edits will help with that. Thanks for filling me in more about the Australian postage @Star7Lily ! I heard some of the details from a pen pal there, and am just trying to balance all countries and rates. :) I've heard the parts of the UK get ... creative with their rates as well. So, I hope this edit helps.

If you have any more comments, please PM me. Thanks. :)

What a super idea! I love journal swaps, but they can get pricy!!

USAFwife 08/21/2017 #
