International, 1 partner interested in an email version? let me know!

I came across a copy of the Flow A Book that takes it's Time book that I bought a few years back, and while deciding to keep or donate, I thought it might be a good inspiration for some swaps! You won't need to buy the book to do the swaps! I'm just using some of the ideas from the book. The link above will take you to the book on Amazon's page, though, and it does have some illustrations from the book if you want to check it out.

For this swap you will have 1 partner, and will be sending flat mail to them. You will create a 'beautiful moments jar' for yourself and will share the experience with your partner. So you get to keep the work you do to use for yourself, you will just be sharing your thoughts about the experience of creating this with your partner. Does that makes sense?

The book starts with an activity "Notecards for your Beautiful Moments Jar" and says - "Celebrate those everyday things that make you happy for no reason at all. Write them down on these notecards, tear them out, and save them in a jar. Pull one out every now and again to revisit and cherish a moment." The book contains several pages to tear out and write on small cards. This is for YOU, and YOU can do whatever you wish to recall a memory - write it on slips of paper, use journal cards, create something artistic to remind you of the moment - it's for YOU so it's totally up to YOU what you use. (The cards included are about 2.5 in by 3.25 inches, so I will probably use regular paper so I have enough room to write.) You should create at least 5 cards to start with.

After you have created your memory cards, take a few minutes to write to your partner about the experience. This is not profile based, so you can do this at any time, even before partners are assigned! In fact, it might be a good idea to give yourself a little extra time to prepare for this swap.

Some things to consider sharing with your partner:

  • how did you feel when you started the project? how did you feel afterward? Did you enjoy the project?

-were you able to come up with at least 5 memories? Did you do more?

  • what did you choose to do for your memory jar? Did you use an actual jar or something else? Did you decorate the jar or the papers you included?

  • Can you see yourself using this project in the future, either to record ideas or to pull memories from? Do you think you will continue to record memories for your jar?

Feel free to share as much as you wish with your partner about the process.

Even if you don't sign up for this swap, please leave a comment below and let me know if you like the idea or not, and if you would sign up for future swaps of a similar nature. I will make a point to actually read comments this time, I promise. :) It's good feedback for me to know what type of swaps to create for the group.

For the swap, you only need to send your partner flat mail (letter/notecard at least) with a few paragraphs about your thoughts with this project. That's it, so it should be nice, flat mail to send to your partner. Before you add extras & such, please check your partner's profile to see if they enjoy those items.
You will need to send more than just a postcard for this swap - that's not enough room to write a few paragraphs. But a short letter or notecard is fine.

Be sure to include the swap name and your SB ID with the letter so your partner can rate you.

Questions? Comments? Thoughts? Please send me a PM. If anything doesn't make sense, please let me know and I will explain further. Also, I will try to post some photos of this actual book to the Face Book group so you can see more of it without having to purchase the book. IF you're not a member of the Face Book group, please let me know and I will give you the info. :)

IF you can see it clearly, the swap image is a picture of the book. An image is also included with the Amazon listing.

This is so interesting. Checked out a flip through of the book on YouTube and it seems very intriguing. Thank you for hosting this swap. It would be fun.

I love it! Bella Grace magazine I get quarterly has journal activities and little shares or long stories like this plus I love their photography. It is soul satisfying to read and write in this vein!

When my daughter was little, we had a gratitude jar. We would write down happy moments, just anything we were grateful for. On New Year’s Eve, we would empty it & read all of our memories. It was so lovely.
