Dear Friends and Neighbours of the Parish, It is with the greatest pleasure that I address you from my morning room, where the sun is just rising over the shrubbery. As I sit here, with a fresh pot of tea, preparing my quills, my thoughts have turned most fondly to the world beyond our quiet lanes. How vastly we enjoy the simple pleasure of hearing of the travels of our family and friends. Whether your recent duties have carried you no further than the bustling market at Bexford, or fortune has favoured you with a grand excursion to the dramatic peaks of Derbyshire, the waters of Bath, or the busy streets of Londonโyour experiences are of the highest interest to us all. Therefore, I most earnestly invite you to take up your pens for our next exchange. Let us embark upon a Travel Log Swap. I request that you compose a letter detailing a journey, undertaken by stagecoach, carriage, or post-chaise, or indeed, a fine walk. Pray, do not spare the particulars! We desire to hear of the trials of the road, the state of the weather, and the comfort (or lack thereof) at the wayside inns. Those most agreeable characters, and especially, the more eccentric folk who shared your carriage will make your missive eagerly read. Do include your impressions of the passing landscape or of those sites you wandered through. To ensure our correspondence is fitting for the post, let each letter be written upon a single sheet, and secured with your finest wax seal (or a pretty sticker). I look forward with the utmost anticipation to the arrival of the post-bag. I remain, as ever, your obedient servant, Lady Elizabeth Particulars Write a one page letter about a journey your character has made, whether grand or simply visiting a neighbouring village, give details of your travels. Fold your page and use a wax seal or sticker as a closure to emulate a letter from our era.. If there are any queries, please leave a message below or contact the founders, we are always happy to help. | |
