That reminds me of a line out of my profile, and sounds like one of those things I'd say :) Heck, my profile could probably be yours, if you give me another 10 years or so. I love altered art, although I haven't tried making any myself. I do love to look at it.
Speaking of giraffes, have you seen the DirecTV commercial with the petite lap giraffe? It's hilarious, and if you look up "petite lap giraffe" or "opulence, I has it" you'll find it :)

Like you, I adore paper, and bring on the vintage cookbooks. Mail art passions are also shared! I just finished a big bunch of PCs and I cracked myself up with some of the images and captions.
Nature themes are evident in your profile, and I share that, too. Now if the snow would melt faster I could see some nature!
Just before I clicked over to the bot, I was perusing the cheapest way to get to NYC from Cape Cod, where I am. I want to see an American in Paris. I think I will have to save my pennies up because I refuse to take the Chinese bus to make it worthwhile in the budget dept. Do you go to the city much? I visit Boston as much as I can because my family is right near there.
Lastly, I too am a fan of the Goddess. Kuan Yin is presently on my radar for spiritual development. Healing compassion feels good. Have a great weekend! jan
