About Me

Hi, my name is Katie. I live in Michigan. I have been a long time crafter and recently discovered junk journaling & bullet journaling. It has been a great way to use up my long ignored scrap-booking stash and helps me relax after work. I enjoy finding creative ways to upcycle old books and non traditional crafting items. And bullet journaling helps keep me organized and on track with my goals while giving me a chance to draw and doodle. Recently I have been trying some watercolor painting as well. My other hobbies include weaving, cooking, gardening, and yoga. I especially like cooking healthy meals from the vegitables that I grow.

I also enjoy traveling, but don't get to do it very often. I hoped to go to Colorado for a yoga retreat. I hope to eventually visit every state in the US. I enjoy visiting National parks when I travel. I spent a semester after collage studing art and French in Paris, but I still don't speak French. It is still a skill I would love to learn.

I joined this forum as a way to connect with other crafters and swap some happy mail. I'm not interested in swapping tea or food. I am loving reading peoples profiles and trying to find or create things that I think they will like. I also enjoy working the contents and envelopes from swaps I recieved into my junk journal.

I saw the best idea from someone else's profile, they suggested that people send a picture of the landscape around where they live. I thought that sounded like a great idea, so I'm borrowing it! I would love to see your local landscape.

I am also starting to get into post card swaps and am trying to build a collection of postcards.

Favorite Television

I tend to watch a lot of nature or cooking shows. I don't really watch any new series, I used to love Project Runway and What not to wear. Now I watch a lot of YouTube. Some of my favorite channels are CHACHA NOTE asmr, Gaile Agostinelli, Girl with Quill, Good Eatings, Mic the Vegan, Plant Based Bride, Pick up Limes, Shayda Campbell, Tiny Acorn, Torryn Marie, Wheezywaiter, Yoga with Adrienne.

I guess that just shows that I like to learn new thing about my interests.

Current projects

My current junk journal is made up of envelopes, cards and other bits that people have sent me in swaps or given me because they know I'm doing this hobby. It's kind of like a collaboration project with all my swap partners from when I first started swapping! I am also working on a journal for a holiday gift for my parents. I'm reading The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni. I have decided to challenge myself to watercolor paint 1000 flowers in 2021 to teach myself watercolors. I'm still only on 262 :-/ Maybe when I have some time off for the holidays I can at least make it to halfway.

Comment: Thank you for the PC. What rare things did you grow in your garden this year? I tried a purple tomato, but it ended up being an orange one! Someone must have been color blind in the nursery!

Comment: Wow! Katie! What a fantastic swap! You certainly made my day! Everything you sent is amazing and I love it all! Those space stickers are out of this world ;) and the vintage Nat Geo page is perfect! I also really love the lyrics you sent - I love Collective Soul and "The World I Know" is gorgeous. I'm saving your interpretation of the song because I think you nailed it. I would give you 10,000 hearts if I could, but the system won't let me... Take care! XO Dana

Comment: Everything you sent was wonderful! I needed loose envelopes to use for an advent calendar swap I'm in right now, so they came in handy. Stickers were an excellent assortment. The vintage papers were a bonus. My favorite is the Autumn tag/bookmark with the cool textured paper used as the background, I'm guessing it was a rub on, love how it was created!

Comment: Howdy! OMG! I received my package and I CAN’T wait until it’s time to open each item. A part of me wants to just open it all up now…you know just in case there’s something I might be able to use like right now…lol. I love that you wrapped mostly everything in natural paper bag color. The way everything was wrapped certainly spoke Autumn to me. Thanks for the envelope that I could open right away. If it had not been for that I probably would have opened everything up already. Ha, ha! Well, I can’t wait, but I will. Thanks a bunch! Take care!

Comment: These envelopes are delightful! Thank you!!! I love the thoughtful care you put into your swaps! It definitely shows! I love the uniqueness each envelope has & the attention to detail you’ve added. That thick wood grain outer envelope is really neat & it’s so cool how you were able to line up the image of the metal brace on the back! Where’d that paper come from? — and the delicate homemade feel of the lightweight crinkly bark-like fiber one? Love it! These are wonderful. I love your letter, too, and how you made it match the envelope. Thanks for the cute origami designed stickers, as well; your swaps are so inspirational. ❤️💕❤️ ~ Z
Response: Thank you for your enthusiastic review. The wood grain paper came from a local independently owned scrap book shop in my area, sold by the sheet.

Comment: Thanks for the paper ephemera. I enjoyed going through them. I grew up in Cleveland Ohio and I can’t believe that a four bedroom home went for less than 15 K in the Detroit area in 1960! Also, I loved the wide washi tape on the mailing envelope .

Your wonderful assortment of vintage ephemera has arrived - the TV guide alone will keep me busy for hours, and I was wondering what car I'd use for a swap I've joined! Love the pennies, too - thanks for wanting to share this bounty of miscellanies❣️
